The federal government alleges that the Real Housewives of New Jersey stars intentionally withheld and falsified financial information in order to obtain mortgages they could not afford then they failed to honestly report earned income to the IRS. Then upon filing bankruptcy they lied about income, assets, and potential income. All in all they are in biiiiig trouble, little Jersey!
It's interesting that despite Teresa being a stay-at-home wife and mother during that time she signed and submitted loan applications claiming she had income and a job.
Another interesting fact: Teresa and Joe have SEPARATE attorneys in the matter. Which is uncommon considering they are a married couple who filed Chapter 7 together and Joe was presumably the sole breadwinner during the timeframe.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars were officially charged this afternoon with a 39-count indictment of "allegedly conspiring to defraud lenders and illegally obtain mortgages, federal authorities said this afternoon," reports North Jersey.com. In addition they are accused of hiding assets and income during their bankruptcy case.
Teresa, who according to witnesses, displayed a subdued attitude, continued to stand by her husband who is accused of the bulk of the issues. “Today is a most difficult day for our family," Teresa told the judge. "I support Joe and, as a wonderful husband and father, I know he wants only the best for our lovely daughters and me."
So last night's episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey was, dare I say it, fun! And positive. I was clearly watching the wrong show. Or I fell into the Twilight Zone.
While Teresa Giudice and Poison are practicing their "I Feel" statements with Dr. V in the anti-psychotic chamber, the rest of the crew (with Caroline Manzonow in attendance!) is discussing Jacqueline Laurita. Yes, Teresa blames Jacqueline for the Mayan Calendar failing to drop a house on Melissa Gorga's head. And yes, Jacqueline blames Teresa for her spontaneous combustion which left nothing but some wine corks and a pile of old tweets on Chris' pillow.
So anyway, Jacqueline is here in spirit. Evil spirit!
After Dr. V convinces Teresa and Poison they need to like spend time together not arguing and everyone hugs, Melissa comes in. I was really confused about when Tammy Faye Baker was cast on RHONJ, but there she was sitting there with Dr. V and Poison tearing up and refusing to take responsibility for anything. Huh… OH – wait – that was just Teresa with the worst, most ridiculous eye makeup ever. Seriously, she is so much prettier without the crazy eyelashes and the bad weave.
Teresa Giudice and Dr. V were together on tonight's episode of Watch What Happens Live. They spent the episode reflecting on the retreat and dishing on everything from Caroline Manzo coming up to help, and Teresa reverting back to her "I'm not to blame" mentality. It left me smacking my head against the wall just a little bit.
Dr. V starts off about her first impression of Teresa, "I met a very whole hearted person, a very vulnerable person." She says she was inspired by the entire family by the time she left.
When Andy plays a clip ofJoe Giudice being the voice of reason, Teresa tears up, saying "because I know my Joe's a sweetheart."
The first caller asks Teresa how it felt to be hugged Joe and Melissa? And also why she called Melissa a bitch? "I was kidding, first of all. It (the hugs) felt really great. It felt good. That's how we are, we kid around. My husband and my brother always bust each others chops. Me and Melissa don't do it that much, but a little bit. That's how we are. And hello, you see Richie. He's like that alll the time."
Real Housewives of New Jersey is right in thick of serious drama. Last week Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga tepidly began to process their issues with the help of the formidable Dr. V (there isn't enough alcohol in the world for me to try and tackle that mess – so props to her!).
Caroline Manzo was also brought on by Teresa to try and mend the issues. "This is a tough bunch. They are very passionate people and very stubborn," Caroline dishes to The Hollywood Reporter.
However Teresa admitting she needed help shocked Caroline enough into going! It's not often Miss. Everything's Fine admits there's a problem, as we know… "I was very surprised to hear from Teresa," Caroline admits. "She's a strong girl and doesn't usually ask for help. I knew something was up."

TELL US – ARE YOU GOING TO TRY OUT TERESA'S NEW PRODUCTS?
You know, I have mad respect for how hard the ladies of the housewives' franchise work. When they aren't filming drama-licious episodes, they are on a constant media tour, touting their products, and giving a whirlwind of interviews. Of course, we all know that no housewife is on her game more than Real Housewives of New Jersey'sTeresa Giudice, and you have to give her mad respect for that!
Speaking to Out In Jersey, Tre dishes on everything from her favorite dishes (what a segue!) to her family dramz. Of her latest cookbook Fabulicious On The Grill, Teresa opines, "It's really refreshing right?! This book is all about eating clean, and exercising of course. You are what you eat, people need to get that by now," adding, "I've been exercising for the past two seasons and it's been great, they really go hand in hand. I cook the way you see in the book, simple and easy, and always with fresh ingredients. That's really what people need to understand, it doesn't have to be fancy. You can make a great meal with fresh and simple ingredients."
Teresa also reveals that she's always had a passion for cooking, and she hopes that her girls will share her love of all things culinary. She says, "I'm first generation Italian, it's definitely what I love to do. The cooking, the cleaning, all of the traditional things like that, like the old days. I really think that the new generation loses that, and it's really important. Those are the things that were instilled in me, like keeping a good house and having old school values. I want my daughters to do these things for their families, which is what really inspired me to do the books. It's a memoir for my daughters to have for the future."
