Who doesn't love to watch strangers meet, get whisked off to exotic locales, fall in love and find fame get married? It's a tried and true formula, and it almost always works…the fifteen minutes of fame, of course–not the marriage.
ABC's new Bachelorette is hoping that the show's odds are in her favor (or not in her favor…whichever makes her more likely to find a guy she actually likes) after failing to find love with BachelorSean Lowe. Desiree Hartsock, like all the other true believers before her, still thinks that the process can work. Sure.
Speaking of finding love, the shows' host, the dapper Chris Harrison, has apparently done just that. And not with me. Curses!
It’s been quite the “are they or aren’t they, will they or won’t they” relationship for two-time Bachelor contestant Brad Womack and his fiancee Emily Maynard. The most recent of the franchise’s manufactured relationships engagements has been in question for a while now, following speculation over the single mom’s relocation with her daughter to Austin, Texas, and accusations from Brad’s ex-girlfriend.
US Weekly is now reporting that Emily, 25, is the one who finally broke things off for good following a trip to Texas a few weeks ago. Sources say that the long distance relationship was too much for Emily, and she has no plans of uprooting her daughter Ricki from their home in Charlotte, North Carolina. I’d say that is probably a good idea, seeing as Brad’s attempts to woo back his fiancee involve drunk dialing her to profess his love. One source reveals, “Brad and Emily are over, and Brad keeps drunk-dialing her. [He] is such a loser.”
Recently, post-split, Emily has been seen sporting a bare left ring finger. While running errands last week near her home in Charlotte, Emily was spotted sans sparkler, leaving many wondering what became of the ring Brad proposed with on the show’s finale. A source close to the ABC hit divulges that Emily has returned to the ring to the network, adding, “It’s completely over now.”
With these two, it seems the writing has been on the wall for some time now, although I’m sure it won’t be the last we hear of Brad and Emily. Even with several insiders confirming the break-up, a source close to the couple still believes a happy ending is in store for the pair. The friend insists, “They are still together and engaged. They are on and off, but there is a lot of love there. This is just a rough patch.”
Luckily, while we hope they go away wait with baited breath to learn more about the couple, there is an entirely new crop of singles looking for love with Brad’s castoff Ashley Herbert on the newest installment of The Bachelorette. Perhaps the newly single Womack will make an appearance in “the most ridiculous rose ceremoney ever.”
TELL US – DO YOU BELIEVE THEY’RE OVER FOR GOOD? SURPRISED THEY DIDN’T LAST?
In less than a week,The Bachelorwill premiere on January 4th on ABC. And as usual the bachelor, Jake Palvelka is at a dilemma as he struggles over who to keep and who gets to go home first out of the 25 ladies.
Fortunately for Jake, during the season premier episode former Bachelorette Jillian Harris and her beauEd Swiderskicome to his rescue. Let’s not forget that Jillian and Ed are making history since they are one of the very few success stories to emerge from several years of ABCs The Bachelor and Bachelorettes shows. The couple appears on the premiere and offer advice to Jake .
If this isn’t the blind leading the blind, then I don’t know what is.
Jake Pavelka is speaking out on being chosen to be the new Bachelor. The official announcement was made on Tuesday’s episode of Dancing With The Stars.
Jake reveals to UsMagazine that he is “honored” to be given a second chance at love as the latest Bachelor. Jake was dumped on the last season of The Bachelorette by Jillian Harris. “It’s such a unique opportunity,” Jake, 31, revealed after the DWTS show taping in Los Angeles Tuesday. “I still cannot believe this is happening. How did I get here?”
When asked about the drama from last season including the accusation that Wes Hayden had a girlfriend back home, Jake reveals he hopes that’s something he will not have to deal with. “I hope that’s something we don’t deal with this season,” he said. “I’m going to give everybody a clean slate going in, and I think over time [contestants] will weed themselves out. I’m hopeful.”
So who is Jake’s dream girl? “I’m going to look deep into the heart for character,” he said. “The four most important things to me are similar qualities — someone who is romantic, passionate, compassionate and protective … and will laugh at my jokes!”
The Bachelorette’sJillian Harris and fiancé Ed Swiderski appeared on the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Thursday. Amidst all the rumors, the duo seems determined to stay together.
“We want everybody to know we are extremely happy and in love,” Ed tells Ellen, so much that the couple packed up Jillian’s home in Vancouver this past weekend and are officially moving in together next week.
“I’m all packed up and ready to go,” the 30-year-old smiled.
Ed attempted to explain away his alleged bad behavior by saying – “In every sense of the word, I was a bachelor before I went on the show, but I am not perfect. I am a human being.”
Ed goes on to say that he and Jillian have their struggles like any normal relationship and he is sure that fans of “The Bachelorette” would love to know the details, but there are things that should be kept private.
Ed also talked about the two women who started the “cheating allegation” controversy about him in the media. He says, “I don’t know what motivates someone to do something like that. I did have dialogue with these women and I know them pretty well. I don’t know what caused that.”
In other news, Jillian dished to E! News on Thursday at the Rosa Cha show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC. Interestingly, Ed was unable to attend the event with her. Oddly enough, It was Ed’s idea for Jillian to be accompanied by Mike Steinberg, New York baseball camp owner that was eliminated in episode four of The Bachelorette.
The new issue of UsWeekly reportsThe Bachelor star, 26, is set to wed insurance-agent beau Tye on Dec. 12.
“We aren’t doing much. I think small, we plan small,” says Melissa, who got engaged less than six months after being jilted in January by then fiance & Bachelor star, Jason Mesnick. “But whether it’s going to turn out the way we have it in our minds, I don’t know!”
UsWeekly is also reporting that Melissa has invited her former Bachelor costars, Jillian Harris and Naomi Crespo. Her former Dancing With the Stars partner Tony Dovolani, also scored an invite.
The couple is currently enjoying some time together in Canada. They both attended Jillian’s cousin wedding this weekend. You can see photos of the wedding here.
“We’ve got a Jet Ski, so we’ve been spending lots of time on the lake,” says Jillian, who is still planning to move to Ed’s home city of Chicago in September.
Jillian’s friends also back her decision to stay with Ed, “Jill was aware that there was a risk of this kind of tabloid attention when she got involved in the show,” reasons Shannon Long, who speaks with Jillian every day.
It was reported a few days ago that money might be a motivation for Jillian and Ed staying together.
If you recall, the first BacheloretteTrista Rehn and then fiance, Ryan Stutter, got paid the amount of $1 million to have their wedding televised back in 2003. There’s obviously a huge amount of money at stake if Jillian and Ed make it down the aisle.
An insider toldIn Touch Weekly that both Ed and Jillian plan to stay engaged and work through the problems, specifically the cheating allegations. “When Jillian accepted Ed’s proposal, she was starting to fall in love,” the magazine reports.
The insider continues, saying it wasn’t until after accepting the $60,000 ring that Jillian started to hear rumors that Ed might have kept company with a past girlfriend, among others.
A lot of people are wondering why Jillian has agreed to stay with Ed despite all the evidence pointing to him cheating. Former Bachelorette contestant, DeAnna Pappas believes money might be a factor.
“Hours after my finale, I was bombarded with offers for endorsements, special appearances and more,” Pappas told In Touch. “But the catch was they wanted both me and my fiancé (Jesse Csincsak).”
Four months following the final rose ceremony and proposal, DeAnna and Jesse broke up. Both were offered $10,000 to appear at a nightclub and $5,000 to appear at a mall.
“If Jesse and I stayed together, we could have easily cashed in,” Pappas said. “But for me, it felt like selling out.”
UPDATE – Edited to add that ABCpaid the first Bachelorette, Trista Rehn and husband Ryan Sutter, $1 million to televise their wedding back in 2003. So Jillian and Ed making it down the aisle could mean big bucks for the couple.
