The Real Housewives of Orange County

OC Housewives

Hold on to your retractable leashes and sis and desist letters! Tonight is Part I of the Real Housewives of the Orange County Reunion, and based on last week’s finale, these ladies are going to have a lot they want to get off of their surgically enhanced chests.

The first half of the reunion promises to revisit Tamra Barney and Eddie Judge’s Alexis Couture (the porn star, not the housewife) bathtub scene causing Alexis (the housewife, not the porn star…that we know of) to call Tamra a bad mother. Alexis also comes under attack for her “traditional views” on marriage, while Vicki breaks down watching a video of Donn discuss their divorce and the pain of seeing it play out on television.

Gretchen defends her relationship with Slade, but opens up about the hardships of dating a man with no job and mountains of child support debt. Just when you think things couldn’t get any worse, Tamra and Gretchen let the accusations fly about the cheating, lying, and meddling. It’s almost as if we’ve been transported back to last season! Clearly these two have yet to kiss and make up over their past drama. Of course, it wouldn’t be a reunion if Andy Cohen wasn’t there to stir the pot referee.

Gretchen recently spoke with In Touch about what to expect from the sixth season reunion (and made sure to name drop the dietary supplement she takes to maintain her figure). She reveals that she and Tamra get into it over some of Tamra’s biting comments. “Tamara said some really harsh things about Slade this season and I wanted to address some of those issues. You really see the claws come out.”

While Tamra can certainly bring the drama, Gretchen is proud of herself for standing up to her. She says, “I didn’t even know I had it in me to fight like [I] did. It was pretty intense. You think New Jersey was crazy, you should see us at our reunion.” And watch, we shall!

Part I of the reunion airs tonight at 9 ET, followed by an all new Real Housewives of New Jersey on its new night. Part II of the OC reunion also airs tomorrow night on Bravo. Watch a sneak peek below!

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE PREVIEW & TONIGHT’S REUNION PART I?

OC Housewives

The sixth season of the Real Housewives of Orange County comes to an end tonight with what the Bravo network is promising will be a very dramatic finale.

And it should be as Vicki will file for divorce though in a very recent interview, she implied she would be open to a reconciliation with Donn. Also o`n the finale tonight titled “Girl Fight,” the season concludes with a bang as we finally get to see the altercation between Jeana and Tamra that Bravo has been teasing us with for months. Vicki comes home from her recent stint in the hospital, but feels well enough to host her annual fall party. At the party, Tamra doesn’t take kindly to what she believes is Jeana bad-mouthing her around Orange County, and all hell breaks loose. Watch a sneak peek below! The episode airs at 10/9c.

Watch What Happens Live - Vicki was the scheduled guest but it seems her appearance had to be rescheduled. Replacing Vicki will be Peggy Tanous and hockey player Sean Avery.

In other OC news, it’s no secret that (much like the ladies on the majority of the franchises), the OC Housewives are not the best of friends. These woman do cliques and cattiness better than most high school mean girls. Vicki Gunvalson is no stranger to the drama, especially this season, but could she be tiring of all the back-stabbing?

In a recent interview with E.Online, Vicki opens up about her future plans and her young co-stars. As for what’s next for Vicki, she has penned a book (because that’s what Housewives do when they don’t fancy themselves pops stars) entitled More Than a Housewife, and envisions herself on her own “Clean House” type show, helping women with clutter and hoarding issues.

However, Vicki’s most telling statements are aimed at her younger Orange County cohorts, Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino. Vicki states the obvious, “Alexis and Gretchen are thirty—we’ve got nothing in common. Nothing.” She elaborates, “[I want to] have more substance behind who I am. I think this show has really gone into an area that—I don’t work out five hours a day, I don’t stand in front of a mirror, I don’t do all things that we’re [supposed to be doing].” Meow. If that’s not a dig (albeit a legitimate dig) at the two youngest, blondest housewives, I don’t know what is.

Apparently, the disconnect with the women makes filming difficult. “[T]hey don’t respect me and I don’t respect them, so it’s tough to film cohesively with that.”

Vicki also goes on the record with respect to Alexis’ eating disorder admission. She exclaims, “Well, obviously she doesn’t eat! It was obvious, she has no body fat…It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know the girl’s got an eating disorder. I mean, really. I mean, she has got the most perfect body in the world, but you have got to eat in order to sustain life. I never knew it, but you can look at her to say, there’s definitely some eating issues.” I mean, Vicki makes a valid point, I mean, even if she doesn’t say it in the most sensitive manner, I mean.

Vicki reveals that she and Alexis get into it on the season’s reunion. However, dear readers, we have one more episode to watch before we get to see that.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON VICKI’S COMMENTS & TONIGHT’S OC FINALE?

Sunday’s Real Housewives of Orange County “Fashion Victim” episode starts off with two scenes which viewers have come to expect: Gunvalson awkwardness and Slade emasculation. Elsewhere, Tamra and Peggy are partying in Vegas and Alexis is channeling her inner Project Runway.

Vicki and Donn are tip-toeing around each other while cleaning house and doing laundry, making no effort to connect other than passive aggressively. Gretchen returns home from San Antonio and Slade’s “Tubbawubba” nickname is ressurected. Gretchen also reminds him that since he doesn’t have a job, he’s basically her do-boy. Slade lets Gretchen know he’s no one’s man-servant, while dutifully unloading her umpteen pieces of luggage.

Peggy has big plans for Micah’s birthday. Vegas, baby! Peggy invited Tamra and Eddie and another random couple, Kirsten and Brady. If I had to guess, Kirsten’s gunning for a spot on next season. Peggy is thrilled that Tamreddie (see what I did there??) are her and Micah’s new biffles. The group disses on Alexis and Jim, and Micah goes off on a rant about people in O.C. who are constantly trying to keep up with the Joneses. He opines about “living within your means” and to “stop trying to be something you’re not.” These are clearly digs at Mr. Bellino, but how awkward for the Tanouses to have to watch that scene now??

Howdy y’all! The Southerner in me has only one thing to say about Sunday’s Real Housewives of Orange County: Good gracious and bless their hearts…Alexis is wasted, Gretchen is hilarious, and Tamra is…human? Don’t shoot the messenger! Vicki continues to struggle with her feelings for Donn, and Peggy unwittingly finds herself in competition with (who else?) Alexis.

This episode, “Cutting Loose,” starts with Alexis and sidekick assistant Dylan shopping for cowboy boots for her upcoming trip to visit Gretchen in San Antonio, Texas. The poor salesman can’t find a boot with a high enough (or sexy enough) heel for Alexis’ taste, but at least she has on a pair of ridiculously tiny Daisy Duke shorts to counteract the conservative boot. Alexis is looking forward to the brief getaway from Jim and the kids, but admits she’s not a cowgirl or a girls’ trip kind of girl.

This week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County is pretty drama-free, relatively speaking. Peggy and Alexis continue to rehash and compete (with a photoshoot face-off being one of the night’s highlights), Tamra and Fernanda make nice, Vicki continues to struggle with her marriage issues, Gretchen heads to the Lone Star State to sell her wares, and Slade’s mom tells it like it is.

Tamra meets Lynne for lunch and Lynne asks if Tamra and Fernanda are an item. Tamra acts shocked but spills more of the details on the infamous kiss. She reveals that Eddie is convinced that Fernanda is in love with her. I am not so sure Eddie feels this way or if it’s more Tamra wanting him to feel that way, but regardless, we learn that the kiss did involve tongue, but thankfully, no “nipple tweaking.” Tamra always has a way with words.

Peggy goes to Alexis’ home to confront ask her why Jim wasn’t at the dinner party. In her interview prior to speaking with Alexis, Peggy says that as long as she’s known Jim “he’s never had a real job” so she’s not buying that “work” kept him from attending. Alexis is (finally) honest, admitting that Jim doesn’t want to hang out with the catty ladies any longer, and Peggy is hurt that Alexis didn’t feel as if she could tell her the truth earlier. Peggy presses to see if Jim has beef with she and Micah, and Alexis rambles on and on about how she’s too busy to have a social life, what with her perfect kids, and working out, and that whole fashion designer thing. Peggy brings up a time when Jim was very condescending to Micah about Micah’s lamborghini knowledge (seriously, who ARE these people??) and Alexis reminds Peggy that Jim has had four lamborghinis in the past. Ahhhh, now I get why this episode is called “It’s Not a Competition.”

tamra and simon barneyeddie-judge-tamra-barney

It seems Tamra Barney has had enough of attempting to take the high road when it comes to her impending divorce from husband Simon Barney.

First the Real Housewives of OC star referred to her husband of 11 years as a deadbeat dad, the latest is now Tamra referring to Simon as a “liar scum bag” in an email she sent to TheDirty website.

TheDirty referenced a RadarOnline article yesterday which showed pictures of Tamra and new boyfriend Eddie Judge on a romantic vacation. Eddie was of course referred to as being a friend of Simon’s in the article, something Tamra denies and accuses Simon of lying about, simply to make her look bad.

The email Tamra sent to TheDirty is below -

Tamra Barney Email to TheDirty

In the email, Tamra references Simon’s new friendship with Gretchen Rossi’s alleged former lover Jay Photoglou. Not exactly certain why Tamra seems repulsed by this considering she was the first one to befriend Jay last year, while he fed her some damaging information about Gretchen. All of which she shared with viewers during last year’s dramatic reunion show.

Jay then sent an email to TheDirty claiming he was with Simon when he infamously ran into Tamra and Eddie together in Las Vegas. According to Jay, Simon was crushed, and Tamra knew beforehand that Simon would be at the club.

Sighs, it’s becoming more difficult to keep up with this OC drama.

Orange County Housewives

The recession has affected most households in this country and even The Real Housewives of Orange County are not exempt.

This season has chronicled the housewives’ financial struggles whether small or major. Gretchen Rossi had a garage sale, Jeana Keough went shopping with her daughter at H&M, Tamra Barney is now doing her own housework, and coming up soon will be the eviction of Lynne Curtin. Off camera, Slade Smiley’s financial difficulty is also common knowledge since the publication of a report showing he owes over $80,000 in back child support.

All of the above is a drastic turn from what we’re used to seeing from the OC Housewives. Long gone are the days of buying yatches, diamond rolexes and harleys. A new article from the Huffington Post details the financial woes of the housewives. “All of them have been very much affected by the economic situation,” explains the show’s executive producer, Douglas Ross.

Ross discusses the upcoming episode that will show Lynne’s family being evicted. “We try to treat it as gently but as honestly as we can,” Ross says. “We happened to have been there with our cameras … as part of our normal schedule when they were served the eviction notice. It’s one of those great reality TV moments that happened to be caught because we were in the right place at the right time.”

And though money can be a sensitive issue, the OC housewives don’t seem to mind sharing their struggles with millions of viewers. “It helps people across the nation because they realize it’s not just them,” says Jeana. “I’m pretty open. … There’s not too much I’ll hide. It was difficult for my husband … but the world’s in this place right now and I think people are going to relate to it,” adds Tamra.

Though the housewives get paid to appear on the show, Jeana says the amount (rumored to be $100,000 per housewife) is not enough to support a family. “It’s so minimal. It’s not enough to make your house payments. It’s more like a location fee to keep your house clean.”

Vicky Gunvalson is however one of the luckier housewives as her insurance business is booming more than ever. “When I first started (on the show), I was working out of the house with two employees and now I have a huge office with 10 employees, 700 agents out in the field,” says Vicki, who plans to retire comfortably at age 55. Interestingly, the HuffingtonPost article quotes Vicki as saying she is 42 years old, which is false as she is 47.

Despite her very public eviction, Lynne says things are looking up for she and her family as she predicts they will be able to build a house next year. “My husband is a builder in Southern California. It’s not like he doesn’t try. He’s not sitting at home watching TV. He is going out and making an effort. … I’ve been married for 20 years. … We’ve had the high life we’ve had the low life. It’s just reality.”

oc_housewives_jeana_keough

One of the original Orange County “Housewives,” Jeana Keough is leaving the show to focus on work. Due to the chanllenges of the real estate bussiness, the Wisconsin native and former Playboy Playmate wants to focus her attention on short sales and escrow disbursements.

Tonight’s episode will highlight her exit from the show. Though she is off the show, Jeana plans to tune in every Thursday. In a recent interview, Jeana opens up on her departure, plans to return to TV, what she really thinks about Vicki, Gretchen & Slade’s relationship plus the possibility of a wedding.

These are excerpts from Jeana’s interview below:

Well, now that we’re on the topic. Explain a little more about why you decided to leave the show.

Work. My real estate just went down two-thirds because I wasn’t around the summer to do the open houses and do the things that make me successful. I mean, you can have 15 listings but if you’re not the one sitting on them on the weekend and telling the people the positive things about the houses and why they should buy this house instead of another house — it just … me not being there hurt my sales. The market changed horribly anyway. And me taking off four months in the height of the season was just really hard on me. I needed a summer to get my business back on track. I took a few other jobs. I’m doing, like, three spokesperson jobs. I needed to focus on my income. Loan modifications and short sales take an extraordinary amount of time over a normal sale. So I had to do four loan modifications on four properties. Plus helping all my clients do their short sales. I really didn’t have time to do the show. I had to move Kara from Berkeley down to UCLA. I had to go college searching with Colton. The kids were at a point in their life where they wanted a break from it. They really enjoyed their break from it … but now they miss it.

Over the seasons, we see the ins and outs of your relationship with Vicki. You guys bicker occasionally, but you always seem to work things out. This season, we learn that you asked to borrow money from Vicki and she didn’t help you out. And it seems you sort of lost touch. Talk a little bit about the situation.

It was a small amount of money. It was a deadline for summer school and I didn’t get a check for a week. It was a small amount of money for a small amount of time. It meant nothing. I picked up the phone and called my next friend. It didn’t bother me at all. It just … I don’t know. It hurt my feelings just for a second. But I didn’t dwell on it. I don’t even know why she mentioned it. It was an insignificant thing. I’m not sure. It didn’t hurt my friendship with her. We just got busy. You see in the next few episodes, she traveled a lot this summer. She had to go to a whole bunch of different states for work. And she traveled with the show to a couple of different places. She wasn’t around. Normally, I went on vacations with her. If she was going to Mexico, we’d go. But I’m on a Mexican moratorium so I didn’t go this year.

What do you think of the Tamra-Gretchen feud?

I told Tamra many, many times: “It’s none of your business. One guy woke you up one night. Get over it. Say you’re sorry.” We actually did an appearance where she apologized on TV. She wanted to do it on TV so everyone would know. She did apologize. She wanted to move on. But, of course, the episode came out and it brought up bad feelings. Hopefully, it’s done now and we can move on.

What about Gretchen and Slade’s relationship? True love?

I have a feeling they will be the next wedding. They’re very, very close. And they’re so cute together. Gretchen’s a girlfriend kind of girl. She wants to be married and have kids so … I think they’re in it for the long haul.
