TLC

Kate Gosselin is grasping at purse strings – literally – to keep herself on television. Her newest scheme to get the viewing public to extend her 15 minutes is to cry about how much she needs the money and TV is the only possible way to support her children in the lifestyle she they have become accustomed to!

Last night was the final episode of Kate Plus 8, so expect Kate to be all over the media pedalling her story to anyone willing to listen in the hopes of procuring a TV gig! The wannabe C-List celebrity says she is concerned about her children, as supposedly upon being told TLC canceled the show “Their first comment was, ‘No more fun trips?’” Kate says. “For them, no more job for Mom means no more trips, no more fun.”

“I read what we apparently make and it’s hysterical,” Kate tells The Huffington Post. “That would be a dream come true times two million. So it’s certainly way less than people think. We are not set for life. You know I need to work as soon as possible — as in yesterday.” Kate continues, explaining: “[I've saved] for a little while. People think we made gazillions of dollars, and we didn’t.”

While Kate insists that she’s “saved,” it sounds like her definition of saving is the same one used by RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice, because a quick peek at her reported yearly expenses (not including gym and tanning!) is not painting the picture of a hard-working mom just trying to provide for her family! Let’s have a look, shall we?

Staff: Kate employs two housekeepers, two full-time nannies, a personal assistant, and a bodyguard! Well, he’s “technically” a bodyguard… The total bill for her hired help? $500,000 per year!

Hair: Kate gets her hair cut, colored, and styled by celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson (and a quick look at his celebrity client roster leaves me wondering why he bothers with Kate), who also stars on What Not To Wear. Allegedly Kate spent $2,000 on one trip to the stylist’s NYC salon! Now times that by how many trips she makes per year!

Home: Kate owns a massive 6,000 square foot, five-bedroom, 1.3 million estate in Wernersville, PA which sits on 24 acres!

School: To put 8 children through private school at $5,000 per month, the yearly tab totals: $500,000!

Shopping: Apparently, Ms. Gosselin who is often photographed with a slew of shopping bags, is quite the shopaholic. And while TLC often picked up the tab for her fashion binges during filming, now she may have to *gasp* stop buying countless inappropriate halter tops and shortie-shorts.

Kate describes herself as a “worker,” recalling that she went back to work when her children were 15-months-old. And singing a very different tune from last week, when she called average jobs like nursing “mediocre,” she now begrudgingly states she’d go back to nursing: “If nothing comes up, I’ll do it. But the scary reality is, 12-hour nursing shifts every day wouldn’t let me continue to provide well for me eight kids.” Well, given how much she is spending on hair, I doubt nursing is going to let her provide for herself – let alone her children!

Kate is also adamant that she won’t be changing her childrens’ lifestyle, as she informed us last night, during the show’s final episode. “I refuse to pull them out of their house. I refuse to pull them out of their school, so I better figure something out to keep them there.”

Kate insists she’s not “bitter” that TLC pulled the plug, even though she would like to finish one (or 10) more seasons. “I like to finish things until they are done but they make their decisions for their reasons and I will move onto bigger and better things,” she explains. “I have a lot of stuff I could be bitter about but I don’t waste time.”

Thoughts on Kate’s expenses and her desperate measures to stay in the public eye? Did you watch the final episode?

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned – by reality TV!

Kate Gosselin, soon-to-be former star of TLC’s Kate Plus 8, is spitting mad after ex-husband and former co-star, Jon Gosselin called her out on her perpetual quest for C-List celebritydom. Slamming Kate’s aspirations to be the next Kris Jenner, Jon advised: “Reality television is not a career. Get back to normal life, simple life, provide for your family, and go from there.”

Well Kate isn’t willing to retire retaliated, of course, by calling out Jon’s parenting – even though hers basically consists of hiring a bevy of nannies while she works out, tans, and buys $50,000K two-seater sports cars. During a Today Show interview with Matt Lauer, Kate remarked: “It’s a situation where Jon may be accepting of mediocre for his kids by working a regular job, but I want the best for my kids and to give them the best opportunity.”

Kate continued to deride Jon’s aspirations of a normal childhood for his children by stating: “It would have to be the right [show], but the best opportunity would be me continuing in TV for my kids,” she said. “If the right thing came along, I’m sure you will see my kids at some point.” As for the end of their her show, Kate wants everyone to know she’s not just using her children for money and attention; it’s her career.

“There’s fear because this has been the start of my career and my job and how I’ve been providing for my kids for six years.” What she really means to say is this is how TLC has been providing for her kids for six years!

Kate confirmed: “I think at this point, the best opportunity for all of us would be me continuing on TV as a way to provide for my kids. Something that’s exciting and challenging for me has been TV, and I wouldn’t be opposed to it. I’m sure you will see my kids again at some point.”

After Kate’s snarking received backlash from the public, she is now recanting her statements, claiming Jon isn’t so bad after all – it’s just his career choice that is. Kate Tweeted: “2clarify re ‘mediocre’ – I meant this job is not a career acc 2 jon but tv is 4 me & is hard but will prov best opps 4 my kids vs nursing!” If you can decipher the Twit-diction.

Well a fan snapped back, wondering if TV was the new qualifier for a exceptional parenting: “So, because my husband and I aren’t on tv constantly like @Kateplusmy8 , we’re only providing a “mediocre” life for our daughter?” Prompting Kate to reply: “That’s not wut I said @all. Was responding 2jons comment only re ME getting a ‘normal’ job–which would not work$ bc I hav 8!” She needs television to feed and clothe her 8 children!

Don’t expect Kate to go away anytime soon, because remember TV is her J-O-B and her fans need her! “I feel sad for fans, because they’re devastated,” she explained to Matt Lauer. “They’re saying, you know, you’re the neighbor moving far away and we won’t see you again.”

But fret not as Kate promises she and her plus 8 will return! She also feels bad for fans who might be “devastated” over the show cancellation. “I feel sad for fans, because they’re devastated,” said Kate. “They’re saying, you know, you’re the neighbor moving far away and we won’t see you again.” Not delusional at all that Kate!

Thoughts on the latest Jon vs. Kate drama? Whose side are you on? Are you ready for Kate to retire or would you watch her on another TV show?

While Kate Gosselin attempted to put on a happy face following news that her TLC show Kate Plus 8 had been cancelled, a new report is now stating that is far from the case.

According to the Hollybaby blog, Kate is “very depressed” by TLC’s decision and was blindsided by it.

“Kate didn’t even learn about the cancellation from TLC until a few minutes before the story broke,” reveals a source. Ouch. “Kate is devastated. She had no idea that her show was going to be cancelled, she thought this was something they’d film on and off until the kids went to college.”

Another source close to the TLC show echoes the same sentiment. “Kate thought the show would go on forever, she expected it to.” Unfortunately for Kate, ratings for the show fell sharply this season bringing in less than a million viewers per episode. This apparently wasn’t worth it to the TLC network, which reportedly pays the mom of eight a lot of money.

In the meantime, the sources reveal they do not know what Kate is planning to do next. “Kate doesn’t know what she’s going to do, she’s getting lots of offers but hasn’t settled on anything.”

Perhaps the next step in Katie’s life is becoming a stage mom a la pimpmomager Kris Jenner and Dina Lohan! Moments after her show was cancelled, Kate hinted on twitter that she has no plans to stop making money off her kids one of her eldest kids, 10-year-old Mady Gosselin, is interested in acting, specifically on the Disney channel!

“Aww that Mady… So well spoken! Wants to do MORE tv!!! Disney anyone? Lol” And when a fan tweeted her that “Mady is a star in the making,” Kate replied “AGREED! MADY SAYS ‘THANKYOU!’”

Kate also had an interesting response when a fan wondered if she planned on going back into nursing. Kate replied, “I plan on staying on tv :) but if I have to to provide for my 8 lovelies, of course!” She plans on staying on TV? How entitled is this woman??? Good luck with that Katie!

As for Kate’s ex-husband Jon Gosselin, he made it clear he no longer wants his plus eight to be on television. Jon revealed last week that he was “very relieved” the show was cancelled. “I hope they can have more private family moments,” said Jon. “I hope that this will bring more privacy to my children and that they can get the proper attention they need for any personal issues they might have in the future.”

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE LATEST?

Ding dong the witch is dead Kate Gosselin’s reality TV career is officially over!

Just moments ago, the TLC network announced it has canceled Kate’s reality show Kate Plus 8.

“TLC has decided not to renew another season of Kate Plus 8,” the network said in a statement. “By the end of this season Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark (including Jon & Kate Plus 8); an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future.”

The cancellation of Kate’s show comes as no surprise as we reported back in April that ratings for the show were at their lowest in years. At that time, new episodes of Kate Plus 8 were averaging just over 874,000 viewers per episode.

Earlier this year, a report came out stating – “If her ratings drop to the 1 million mark this will be her last season, and then Kate would have to get a real job.”

Well folks, it now appears Kate, 36, will indeed have to get a real J.O.B to care for her plus eight.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON KATE’S SHOW BEING CANCELED? WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE’S GOING TO DO NOW?

In today’s shocking news, Jon Gosselin has found himself a new job as a — gasp — construction worker!

Yes, TMZ is reporting that the 33-year-old father of eight began working with Green Point Energy, a Pennsylvania-based company that specializes in renewable energy, earlier this week.

The above photo was taken as Jon was hard at work installing solar panels on the roof of a storage building. Jon, a onetime technology worker, had reportedly been unemployed for over a year before a brief stint working for a real estate developer back in December.

In other Gosselin news, Kate Gosselin appeared on CBS’ talk show – The Talk this week, during which she refuted any comparisons of her TLC show Kate Plus 8 to Disney show “Hannah Montana” which Billy Ray Cyrus, father of teen star Miley Cyrus, has now said “ruined” his relationship with his daughter.

According to Kate, “the big difference” between “Hannah Montana” and “Kate Plus 8” is that on her series, “We’re not scripted, we’re living it.”

Kate also claimed the show has never interfered with her parenting her children. “I am still the parent on camera and off camera,’ she said. “I have zero regrets.”

She went on to credit her TLC show with being able to afford her family “amazing experiences,” such as the recent trip to Australia and New Zealand. “My kids have traveled the world,” she said adding that the film crew has become part of the family.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON JON’S NEW JOBS AND KATE’S COMMENTS ON THE TALK?

It seems NYC Housewife Jill Zarin is back at it again! Well, we’ll just let you read this story and be the judge.

A new report by Popeater’s Rob Shuter reveals Jon Gosselin has finally landed himself a job! Yes, a job, a real job with no relation to reality television. And according to Popeater, we all have one Bravolebrity to thank.

“Jon is very close with Jill Zarin from ‘Real Housewives of New York,’ ” an “insider” tells Popeater. “It was Jill who told Jon to stay out of the spotlight and get himself a real job. Fame is fun but doesn’t pay the bills.”

So what exactly is Jon’s new job? Apparently, Jon is now working for a real estate developer. A source adds that Jon has gotten his life together and now sees his children three to four times a week.

“Jon is in a great place,” a friend of Jon’s reveals. “He is happy and knows what a fool he made of himself after his split from Kate. He has been getting a lot of TV offers, including interest from ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ and has turned them all down. If he never sees a TV camera again in his life it will be too soon.”

Meanwhile, the report adds that we should not expect to see Kate Gosselin off our TV screens anytime soon. Despite the fact that the ratings of her show Kate Plus 8 continue to drop, the show is still doing well enough for the TLC network. Her show continues to remain in the top 10 for TLC and the network reportedly isn’t looking to part ways with her anytime soon.

“Even if her show did get canceled, Kate would find a way to still be famous,” a friend of Kate states. “She addicted to it.”

Who would have thought we would see the day when Jon would become the “normal” parent. Also nice to see Jill is still as crafty as ever.

TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON JON GETTING A JOB? SHOULD KATE QUIT REALITY TELEVISION AS WELL?

A year and a half after quitting her job as the Governor of Alaska for reasons we’re still uncertain of (her rambling speech didn’t quite make it clear), Sarah Palin continues to ride high.

An ABC news report estimates Sarah has earned over $12 million dollar since quitting her gubernatorial position last year. $7 million of that amount came from her book deal with $2 million coming from TLC. Sarah reportedly received $250,000 per episode for each of the eight episodes of her TLC reality show – Sarah Palin’s Alaska. No wonder she agreed to go on the camping trip from hell with Kate Gosselin. Sarah also earns $100,000 per speaking engagement.

According to a new Popeater report, Sarah’s show was a major success for TLC and the network is now trying to sign her for a second season. Her show debuted to over 4.96 million viewers and the episode with Kate Gosselin brought in over 3 million viewers. Kate Plus 8 on the other hand is only bringing in 1.3 million viewers per episode this season.

“For sure the network is doing everything it possibly can to convince Sarah to do another season, but at the end of the day it looks like it will all come down to money,” a TLC insider tells Rob Shuter of Popeater.

“Sarah knows to strike when the iron is hot and started talking about season two right after the show debuted to huge numbers,” a friend of Sarah reveals. “She knows that celebrities get millions of dollar for each episode of their shows and thinks she’s worth it too. Jennifer Aniston took home millions from ‘Friends’ and in Sarah’s eyes, she’s no different.”

A TV expert adds that if Sarah plays her cards right, it would not be impossible for her to get $1 million an episode for a second season, though we at Reality Tea highly doubt that.

TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON SARAH POSSIBLY GETTING $1 MIL PER EPISODE? DO YOU WATCH SARAH PALIN’S ALASKA?

Is Kate Gosselin’s reality empire about to crumble?

According to the latest issue of InTouch weekly, TLC has decided to cancel Kate’s reality show, Kate Plus 8. The reason? Well, it all has to do with Kate’s ex-husband Jon Gosselin.

Sources tell the mag that Jon has refused to re-sign a contract allowing his children to be filmed for the TV show, apparently telling his friends his kids hate being on camera 24 hours a day.

“Kate is beside herself,” says an insider. “She is obsessed with fame and being on TV, so this is making her miserable. Not only that, but she wants more money! She won’t last at home with the kids.”

The insider adds that Kate, 35, is now scrambling to find new ways to prolong her 15 minutes. “She’s buddying up with Bristol and Sarah Palin, among other famous friends,” reveals the insider, adding that Kate “fears that her fame is coming to an end, but she’s more worried that her income seems to be drying up.”
