Fraud Charges Dropped Against Teresa Giudice…In A Different Case

Real Housewives of New Jersey Teresa Joe

Well, at least there is some silver lining on the Guidice's excessive legal issues. A Bergen County, New Jersey Superior Court judge has dismissed the charges in a fraud case against Teresa Guidice. Woo hoo!  Oh wait. I guess I should mention that they weren't those charges in that case. Small victories though, right?

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star was cleared of any involvement in the mortgage fraud allegations brought against her by Juicy Joe's former business partner Joseph Mastropole. Fortunately, most of the charges against Joe have been dropped as well. Unfortunately, this case has nothing to do with the multitude of bankruptcy fraud charges which could mean jail time for Joe and Tre

NJ.com is reporting on the case which began long before Teresa was flipping tables on Bravo. While Mastropole's accusations stem from the the mortgage on a commercial property owned by he and Juicy during their partnership. When the pair uncoupled professionally, Juicy assumed the mortgage and refinanced. Mastropole claims he never received the $260,000 he was due from that transaction.

Mastropole's lawsuit did become part of the Guidice's story line on RHONJ when he filed papers hoping to exclude the debt from being lumped in with Juicy and Tre's 2009 bankruptcy filing. Two years later, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Morris Stern agreed with Joe's former partner, calling Juicy "unbounded as a prevaricator in spinning a tale," and citing that "the extraordinary web of lies and misrepresentations woven by Giudice to implement and cover his misconduct reflects on his approach to business matters, and suggests his disregard for legal restraints which would bind others."

Fast forwarding to this week, the judge in Mastropole's case ruled that the proceeds from the property's subsequent foreclosure paid Mastropole what he was owed. The judge further declined to award attorney's fees as they exceeded the amount of the debt. The judge also found that nothing connected Teresa to Joe's real estate ventures at that time.

Well, maybe the outcome of this case will be foreshadowing for the next?
