Captain Lee Rosbach Names Below Deck Season 7 MVP- Besides Kate Chastain

The crew of Below Deck Season 7 was a disharmonious bunch by the end of it all.  The bickering within the deck crew caused strife on every single night out.  Seriously, have we ever seen a season where the cast splits down gender lines to the point where boat-mances fizzle out and no one is trying to hook up?  Everyone except Tanner Sterbeck, of course. He’s just so oblivious to the mood on board, he’ll keep approaching Chief Stew Kate Chastain for a sex date.

Miraculously, the toxic environment did not affect the quality of work on board too much.  Though Kate was often at odds with Chef Kevin Dobson, and Bosun Ashton Pienaar, they maintained their professionalism and their departments rather well considering.  Valor was not completely void of people who couldn’t push the drama aside during charter.

That maturity did not go unnoticed by Captain Lee RosbachWhen asked by Bravo’s The Daily Dish who was his MVP for the season, his answer was not surprising.  It wasn’t Kate, though after 6 seasons together, she will always be his number one.  Actually, he was specifically asked not to name Kate.

Captain Lee chose Courtney Skippon as the MVP this season.  He explained, “hands down.  I always thought it was funny how she would bitch and complain about the work that she had to do, but at the end of the day, it was always done, and it was always done well.  And I think the rest of the complaining and stuff was just window dressing.”

“She’s very, very smart, very intelligent, and I like the way that she didn’t cave into peer pressure- ever,” Captain Lee said of Courtney’s behavior both on and off the boa.

He continued, “When she didn’t want to drink, she didn’t drink, no matter who said what or who tried to coerce her into doing so.  I don’t know how many times after watching it that I would see her off into the corner at the club, sitting there by herself because she didn’t want to partake in the bad behavior of the rest of the crew, which I thought was very admirable for someone her age.”

Captain Lee also singled out Brian de Saint Pern.  He believes Brain has the most potential to improve both professionally and personally.  According to Captain Lee, Brian is the one that is open to learning from his mistakes.  And that toxic stew within the deck team was a simmering of the collective output.

Of Briann and the deck crew, Captain Lee said, “I think the other two see no or feel no shame for their behavior.  They think it’s totally justified, and that scares the hell out of me, that people can actually look at that and go, ‘What?  What did i do?  What’s wrong?’ Please.”
