A former American Idol contestant has been accused of murdering his wife. Caleb Flynn, who appeared on the show in 2013, is sitting in an Ohio jail for the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn. According to the police report, he may have tried to stage her death to make it look like a burglary.

The Ohio news station WHIO first reported details of the arrest. The chaos started on Monday, February 16, when the police received a 911 call indicating that someone had broken into the Flynns’ home. That’s where they found Ashley, dead from a gunshot wound.
According to the 911 dispatch logs, the person who called the police, presumably Caleb, told them that someone had broken into the house and that a woman had been shot. They also told them that children were in the home at the time of the incident.
Four days later, police caught up with Caleb and accused him of murdering Ashley. They said that he staged the crime scene to make it look like a burglary. They arrested him and charged him with homicide, two counts of felonious assault, and two counts of tampering with evidence.
Years before these murder charges, Caleb appeared on American Idol Season 12. On the show, he opened up about his work as a “music pastor” and said the Lord inspired him to pursue music. He ultimately failed to make it past the Hollywood Rounds.
In a resurfaced interview from the show, Caleb gushed about his wife and her good looks. He said she’d look just like his favorite former contestant, Carrie Underwood, if she dyed her hair blonde.
“I love the Lord. I love my wife more than anything,” Caleb said in the interview.
He continued, “She is very, very pretty just oof. I love her, but you know I’m just a normal person who absolutely loves to sing more than anything in the world.”
