Tonight’s finale of Teen Mom 2 gave us the ending this season deserved – happiness after a whole lot of drama. So much happened from start to finish, this season actually felt like two rolled into one. Kailyn Lowry started out finalizing her divorce with ex-husband Javi Marroquin after so many contentious back and forths about everything from him coming over unannounced to her surprise pregnancy with another man. Leah Messer dealt with mild yet frustrating behavioral problems with the girls, all while trying to get her new dream of motivational speaking on track. Chelsea DeBoer and husband Cole settled into newly married life, dealt with the increasing drug use issues of her ex and navigated the newborn stage of baby Watson with ease before finally getting the wedding reception they always wanted. Briana DeJesus joined us as the newest Teen Mom and the drama she brought didn’t disappoint as she dumped baby daddy Luis in the middle of her pregnancy. Unfortunately, her worries about Luis not stepping up to the plate, just like Nova’s dad, proved to be right and her stress levels rose over every single episode. Jenelle Evans and boyfriend David Eason welcomed baby Ensley, moved into their dream home and got engaged. But it wasn’t all sunshine thanks to Barb winning permanent custody of Jace and with it, permanently damaging her relationship with Jenelle so much so that she wasn’t invited to their wedding. Now that we are all caught up, let’s get started with how everything wraps up tonight!
After a one week hiatus, Teen Mom 2 is picking up right where we left off from the last episode. Briana DeJesus is still fighting with her ex Luis about his level of involvement in their newborn’s life, Leah Messer is trying to figure out how to accommodate all of her girls and their own unique needs, Chelsea DeBoer is planning for her upcoming wedding reception, over a year in the making, Kailyn Lowry is stressing over the impending birth of her third child and finally, Jenelle Evans is fighting with everyone as usual.
After a recent trip to the ER and discovering that baby Stella has holes in her heart, she seems to be doing much better but baby daddy Luis still hasn’t come around to help out or check on her, which comes as a surprise to no one. It definitely isn’t a surprise to Briana, who tells her friend Shirley about his lack of interest while out for donuts. Briana thinks he is staying away because he’s intimidated with her mom and sister always yelling at him when he’s over and that sounds probable given how hard they come for him. I’m not saying it’s not warranted but maybe they could recognize that busting his chops every time he walks through the door might not be the most inviting environment. This is all looking more and more like Devoin and Shirley wants to know if Briana filed for child support like she said she would. Briana has all the paperwork filled out but is hesitant to do so since she knows he is spiteful and it won’t go over well.
Looks like we made it! Shahs of Sunset season six is officially finished and tonight’s part two of the reunion did its best to leave no stone unturned when it came to the burning questions of the season like what’s up with Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi’s marriage? Is she a less angry, better hearing version of herself thanks to rehab and a hearing aid? Is Mike Shouhed still seeing ex-wife Jessica Parido? Does anyone still care at this point? Is Reza Farahan faithful to husband Adam Neely? Does anyone care about that either? And finally, why is Asa Soltan Rahmati on the show? I guess people care about this one. OK, so none of these were really burning questions but Bravo loves to drag out these reunions so whatevs, here’s the breakdown of it all.
We resume from last week’s cliffhanger about whether or not Reza believes his soon-to-be-ex-best-friend Asa’s claim that she didn’t do IVF to conceive her son. Reza, being the slime ball friend that he is, says he does believe her but he has doubts. So he doesn’t believe her? No, he believes her but he hates himself for having doubts. Ohhh I see, he wants so badly to believe his friend but he is also Reza and therefore cannot be trusted and wants to roll with everyone who is pushing Asa out this season, so he can’t stand by her. Are you all following this? I think this is the end of Asa. Because as much as she can be annoying with her magical diamond liquid gold baby organic priestess-ness, she is probably the only one on the show who does value her friendships and now that her friendship with Reza is fractured, what is the point of it all?
The reunion venues for the Shahs of Sunset are getting bigger and so are the accusations. We barely make it through Andy Cohen greeting everyone before the gloves come off, or as Asa Soltan Rahmati observes, the Uzis come out. Asa was of course, a big, pregnant target this season and even in the glow of new motherhood, her cast mates aren’t about to let her off the hook. Even Vida, who usually likes to reserve her most blistering commentary for her own daughter, comes for Asa and trust me when I say her Uzi was fully loaded for that exchange.
Before we go there, I feel like I’m sitting down with a totally different cast than what I saw this season – long gone are any blonde highlights from Mercedes “MJ” Javid and Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi. Instead, their hair is dyed as black as their little hearts. Another thing that’s gone is Reza Farahan’s mustache, along with 43 pounds, to be exact. Mike Shouhed and Shervin Roohparvar are bringing the 90s back, with Mike’s emo eyeliner and Shervin’s slicked back little ponytail with the sides shaved.
Tonight’s episode of Teen Mom 2 reveals what’s wrong with baby Stella after Briana DeJesus had to rush her to the ER, while a very pregnant Kailyn Lowry ends up in the hospital with her own complications. Chelsea DeBoer moves forward with plans to change Aubree’s last name as well as wedding planning, Leah Messer tries to keep growing tension between the twins at bay on vacation and Jenelle Evans’ relationships with her mom Barb continue to deteriorate.
Kail and the boys are still in St. Thomas on their last family vacation before the baby comes but at 35 weeks, Kail is feeling uncomfortable and notices some unusual swelling in her feet. As the day progresses, her hands and face start to swell, so the producers call a doctor since she’s worried about pre-eclampsia. If she does, that means Kail wouldn’t be able to fly home and she debates on which island she could get to in order to have the baby still be a U.S citizen.
Well, another season of Shahs of Sunset has officially drawn to a close and instead of Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi ending up as the outcast of the season, instead we find Persian Pop Priestess and staple cast member, Asa Soltan Rahmati, exiled from this group of overgrown hooligans.
I think we all saw it coming when bestie/worstie of friends Reza Farahan didn’t exactly jump to Asa’s defense during her falling out with Mercedes “MJ” Javid over whether or not Asa used IVF to conceive her “miracle baby.” But let’s face it, MJ wasn’t really mad about Asa using IVF or not, she was really just pissed that Asa beat her to the punch when it came to having a kid. So MJ just found the weakest link in the Asa Chain (the fact that Asa isn’t forthcoming with all aspects of her life) and exploited it with the rest of the Shahs to get them on board with casting Asa aside. And it actually worked!
On Teen Mom 2, it’s more of the same and it seems like some issues will never get resolved in the long term. Jenelle Evans is still at war with mom Barb, despite the custody agreement that was supposed to make everything easier. Kailyn Lowry and ex-husband Javi Marroquin are in the same boat but instead of custody, it’s child support that is dragging out. Briana DeJesus doesn’t have a custody or child support issue yet but likely will in the near future since baby daddy Luis is starting to disappear. Chelsea DeBoer has plenty on her plate between wedding planning, possibly modifying custody and changing Aubree’s last name at Aubree’s request. Leah Messer has her hands full as twins Ali and Aleeah’s fighting escalates. That seems like a good place to start so let’s get going.
Leah is driving the twins to see their dad and they are in the backseat, slapping and hitting each other while they argue over sharing beef jerky. Once they are with dad Corey Simms, the fighting doesn’t stop as Aleeah catches a fish and Ali complains that she’s bored and wants to leave since she can’t really partake in catching fish at the lake. Aleeah reels one in and wants to stay, but they opt to leave and Corey has to break up another fight that starts the second they are in the car with one another. Aleeah is in tears and Corey knows she is acting out because she is getting less attention.
We are in for yet another New York edition of Shahs of Sunset this week, but finally get to see what is going on in L.A. with those left behind – Shervin Roohparvar, Asa Soltan Rahmati, and Destiney Rose, who I keep forgetting is a cast member.
It doesn’t look like L.A. is missing the Shahs much and I’m pretty sure New York will be happy to get rid of them but first, we have to suffer through Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi’s life-changing, earth-shattering, coming of age bit part in an off Broadway play that she keeps talking about. In case we haven’t been taking her seriously up to this point, she has learned her lines and thus, turned her chaotic life around in one single unpaid job opportunity. To quote Reza Farahan, it only took 35 years.
