There has been a lot of immaturity on Vanderpump Rules throughout the seasons. To be fair, it was kind of the whole premise of the show – a bunch of twenty-something friends who were living, working and most of all, partying in L.A. But I don’t think anyone on the show has taken immaturity further than Tom Schwartz. Let us not forget his 15 minute shift as a Pump bartender that ended with a near nervous breakdown due to the sheer responsibility of pouring drinks.
Alas, times have changed and so has Schwartz. We saw him
sort of be faithful to Katie Maloney, then get engaged, get married and finally buy a home. Heck, they even upgraded their Bubba art. Most importantly, despite not having a real job for the entirety of his run on VPR, we saw Schwartz become a bonafide business man. He is now the proud owner of a bar with his name on it and all the revenue a 5% stake in the business will bring you.
I think it’s safe to say most of the kids (can we still call them that?) on Vanderpump Rules are pretty open when it comes to their lives. They’ve showed us the good, the bad and the ugly. A lot of that good, bad and ugly has involved their sex lives, which have also comprised many story lines on the show. There was Jax Taylor sleeping with Kristen Doute when he was still with Stassi Schroeder. Then there was Ariana Madix and Lala Kent hooking up in the backseat of a car, all while boyfriend Tom Sandoval drove them home. Throw in the countless cheating scandals and sexcapades that this group have shown us on VPR and it’s hard to figure out who HASN’T slept together.
But two cast members that have been extra open about their sex lives are Sandoval and Ariana. Ariana especially since she recently came out as bisexual. I mean, if a young, good looking couple wants to tell me what’s going on in their bedroom, I’m ok with it. There could definitely be worse information coming out of that show.
If you’ve been watching Real Housewives of Atlanta this season, you would know very well that the marriage of Kenya Moore and Marc Daly was in pretty poor shape. On the last episode, that fact imploded during a train wreck of a charity event that the couple supposedly threw together. I say “supposedly” because anyone who watched could see that Kenya did all the work. Meanwhile, Marc did all of the complaining (and none of the thanking). As if their on-air tension wasn’t high enough for us all to see the writing on the wall, producers decided to spell it out for us. At the end of the episode, we were told that the couple announced the very next day that they will be seeking a divorce.
I can’t imagine anyone being surprised. Every on-camera interaction between the two felt tumultuous. Every off-camera story about him implied that he didn’t care for or appreciate his marriage to Kenya. Seeing it on screen was one thing. But, the castmates who saw it live had plenty to say about it as well. Some of them even questioned the validity of the marriage to begin with.
Few Housewives have the ability to move past their respective franchises and shine on their own. But Kandi Burruss of Real Housewives of Atlanta has done it not just once, twice or even three times. Kandi has had FOUR, count them, four spin-offs. Since her debut on RHOA in 2009, Kandi quickly became a fan favorite that everyone was rooting for. She didn’t get caught up in the drama but she didn’t run away from it either. Remember her and her fabulous short hair telling NeNe Leakes to “bring it on down”? Now that was some classic RHOA.
Bravo producers clearly saw what Kandi was bringing to the table, handing her multiple stand alone spin-offs over the years. First there was The Kandi Factory in 2012, where Kandi discovered and developed new talent. Then there was a wedding special, which put her tumultuous relationship with now husband Todd Tucker and Mama Joyce on blast for the world to see. There was the forgettable Kandi’s Ski Trip and finally, Xscape: Still Kickin’ It, a four episode series about Kandi’s reunion with her R&B group Xscape.
Lately it seems like it’s impossible to have any Vanderpump Rules content without a wedding being discussed. Between Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s nuptials to Lala Kent and Randall Emmett’s upcoming day, it’s like everyone has suddenly decided that getting married is the thing to do. Even Stassi Schroeder got engaged last year. Not that anyone cares what I think but personally, I’m not here for all the wedding story lines. I like my Vanderpump Rules as God intended it: a bunch of drunken kids going out, fighting and all sleeping with each other. If I wanted to see weddings in my reality shows, I would just change the channel and find them. But enough about me.
Lala and Randall have been engaged for some time now, so it’s only natural that Lala has some upcoming wedding events to keep her and her friends busy. One of those such events is her bridal shower. But much like everything else she does, Lala is planning on doing it her way.
When it comes to Housewives we can’t seem to get rid of, the first person who comes to my mind is Danielle Staub. Ever since she first graced the screen on Real Housewives of New Jersey, she has held on for dear life. Even when she was demoted to a “friend,” Danielle made sure every scene she was in was all about her. Who could forget her whining over and over about her wedding for all of last season? You know, the wedding that lasted longer than her actual marriage.
Part of why Danielle is so entrenched in RHONJ is her ability to have longstanding feuds with a main Housewife. For years, it was OG Teresa Giudice. Once they finally made up in what could only be described as a story line of extreme convenience, she moved on to a feud with Margaret Josephs. Things really went sour when Margaret didn’t roll over and kiss Danielle’s ring over the whole wedding. It just went downhill from there. So downhill that it culminated in an epic showdown of water being thrown, ponytails being pulled and purses being dumped, all while the rest of the cast
chugged sipped and wished they could just get back to buying $600 candles.
Scheana Shay has been a staple of Vanderpump Rules since its inception. Sadly, we have some heartbreaking news in her life to report on: her cousin Phil Tate has been missing since February 25th. He was last seen at the Westmont Village retirement facility in Riverside, California and a Silver Alert has been issued by the California Highway State Patrol.
Scheana issued a plea to help with the search Friday on Instagram, telling the public that her cousin suffers from dementia and diabetes. He has been spotted three separate times in the Mission Grove Shopping Center on February 26th but there have been no leads since.
There have been many fights over the years on Real Housewives but few are as epic as the one between Real Housewives of New York’s Bethenny Frankel and Kelly Bensimon. Mention “Scary Island” to any Bravo fan and they will instantly know what you’re talking about. In fact, if you watched, it’s impossible to forget Kelly’s colossal meltdown. With the beautiful backdrop of St. John, she accuses Bethenny of “trying to kill her” while munching on a bag of gummy bears. Kelly went on to call Bethenny Al Sharpton until Bethenny finally snapped, shouting “GO TO SLEEP!” It’s actually one of my favorite gifs to use to this day.
Needless to say, it’s been bad blood between these two for as long as we can remember. They were never meant to get along and it made for the golden years of RHONY.
