Whether you love her or you hate her, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills really hasn’t been the same since Lisa Vanderpump quit the show. Puppygate was the downfall of LVP’s career as a housewife, but she seems to be doing just fine. Vanderpump Rules is finally filming its ninth season, minus a few OGs that up and “left” the show. She’s got a new show on E! that seems to be keeping her busy. And she’s still throwing shade at her old castmates, whether it’s regarding Erika Jayne’s disastrous legal problems or Dorit Kemsley doing literally anything. Like I said, regardless of your opinion on her, LVP just brought the shade to RHOBH that it’s been missing in recent seasons.
But there’s hope for Season 11, mainly for the aforementioned saga that is Erika and Tom Girardi’s fraud and embezzlement allegations. Sutton Stracke, with her new diamond in hand, is stepping up (or maybe sacrificing herself) to get to the bottom of all the tea.
Major bore Teddi Mellencamp is out, and really will not be missed. As is Denise Richards, but I, for one, will miss seeing the Raggamuffin sipping Casamigos on my screen. At least we have Kathy Hilton as a friend-of, which is likely to cause some friction for her sister Kyle Richards. We all know how RHOBH went last time Kyle had a sister on the show.
For the most part, none of us really know what to expect from Vanderpump Rules Season 9 since so many key players are missing from the equation. But now, we at least know of one major storyline.
James Kennedy proposed to Raquel Leviss. And considering that the cast just started filming, it’s safe to assume the big moment was captured by the Vanderpump Rules cameras.
Fill up your baby bottles because Vandepump Rules is filming. This means we’ll actually see Season 9, but it’s going to be drastically different. Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired for racial profiling Faith Stowers. Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright were axed too departed the show because it was “too scripted.” And a bunch of one season wonders were also fired.
Returning cast members include Scheana Marie, Lala Kent, Katie Maloney, Tom Schwartz, Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, and Lisa Vanderpump. Some of them either have babies, are hoping for babies, or just trying to furnish their expensive homes. It’s going to be interesting to see how the show handles these changes. One thing will always remain though – LVP helped make these people famous.
The silver lining in the mess that was 2020 was that Bravo gifted us with the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. And they didn’t just launch a new show, they knocked it out of the park with Season 1. Jen Shah’s outbursts. Heather Gay’s loyalty. Meredith Marks’ disengaged attitude. Mary Cosby in her closet with her step-grandpa. We loved every minute of it.
The show stood so well on its own after Season 1, fans probably forgot that a few Vanderpump Rules stars made an appearance at the beginning of the show. Katie Maloney-Schwartz and Lala Kent, both from Utah, are pretty tight with Whitney Rose and Heather. They made an appearance at the Shah Chalet, which may or may not have been just a set up by production. It opens the doors for more VPR cameos in future seasons, now that we know Pump Rules isn’t dead and gone for good.
There have been a ton of changes for the cast of Vanderpump Rules since Season 8 wrapped. In June of 2020, “OG” stars Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder were fired for their alleged racist behavior.
Pump Rules viewers also wanted Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright held accountable for their past racially inappropriate behavior. In 2018, Jax implied that his co-star, Faith Stowers, was “AWOL” from the military and stole a car. Faith alleged that Brittany made racist comments about her appearance.
In case you somehow haven’t heard, several Vanderpump Rules OGs (half of whom “left” the show) have become parents throughout the mess that was 2020. Scheana Shay is the most recent mama in the group and joins Stassi Schroeder, Lala Kent and Brittany Cartwright. The pregnancy pact was real AF. And yes, Jax Taylor is embracing dad life now and combatting fake Instagram accounts for his baby boy Cruz Cauchi. And I truly wouldn’t expect anything less.
Britt and Jax have been fully enjoying the beginning of their parenting journey. And honestly, good for them. Pump Rules is moving on with Season 9 without them, but they are unbothered and enjoying their little family. They’ve taken Cruz on playdates to meet some of the other VPR babies, and truly seem very happy entering into this phase of their lives.
If you are like me, you probably are anticipating Season 9 of Vanderpump Rules to be a bit of a snoozefest now that half of the cast has been fired or is entering an entirely new phase of adulting. Lala Kent and Scheana Shay are new moms who definitely are past their days of clocking in at Sur. Katie Maloney-Schwartz and Tom Schwartz are trying for a baby of their own, and I wouldn’t even be surprised if James Kennedy and Raquel Leviss were next. As for Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix, let’s just hope they’ve at least bought some furniture during the past year and a half.
What’s left of the OG cast truly seems to have settled down from their days of Vegas getaways and back alley fights. But apparently, that doesn’t mean they’re going to hold back on the drama. Lala and Scheana Marie’s back and forth feud boiled over, with Scheshu claiming Lala was not being supportive during her miscarriage last year. Now that they’re both moms, they’ve apparently been talking strictly about mommy stuff. But it seems like this feud will have to come ahead as Season 9 preps for filming.
