Dina Manzo hasn’t appeared on the Real Housewives of New Jersey for several seasons, but maybe that’s because her personal life is like a scene straight out of the Sopranos. Since Dina left the show, she married a new man David Cantin and moved to Malibu to live her best zen life. She’s still close with Teresa Giudice, even though that worries Tre’s ride-or-die Dolores Catania. And while it sounds picture perfect, her ex-husband Tommy Manzo is making her life a living hell.
Back in 2015, Tommy allegedly hired a soldier of the Lucchese crime family, who plead guilty, to attack David with a slapjack outside a strip mall. No, you’re not reading the synopsis from the Godfather movies. The mobster, John Perna, received a discount wedding at the Brownstone, owned by Tommy and Albert Manzo, in exchange for the “job.” And Albert Sr. says they have no mob ties…
Dina Manzo is angry. The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum has a lot of brewing family turmoil. On the positive side, Dina is happily married to new husband, David Cantin. But the road to Dina’s happily ever after was plagued with ugly obstacles from her past. As you know, Dina and her sister, Caroline Manzo were cast on the inaugural season of RHONJ and both were married to brothers in the Manzo family.
According to urban legend, Dina joined Real Housewives to gain financial independence from Tommy Manzo so she could leave his allegedly cheating ass. Dina ultimately got what she wanted, but the demise of her nuptials came at a big price. Dina and David have both been victims of violent assaults and Tommy got popped for hiring the attacker(s). Big sissy Caroline went against her blood to protect her last name. Now the sisterly feud continues to boil as Dina checks Bravo for being “insensitive” during her difficult time.
We could all use some kindness, but the last place you expect to see it is on Bravo. But damn it, call your friends and family because this story managed to melt even my hardened, dark, barely beating heart. Go ahead and grab a tissue because the sun might get in your eyes or you could be at risk of suffering a spontaneous allergy attack after this one. Bravo and the shows on Bravo are many things to many people, but sometimes it’s everything to one person. Today we meet Miss Bella Pape.
Bella loves reality television and all that it implies, her favorites are the Real Housewives and she’s quite familiar with the franchise. But Bella isn’t binge-watching shows on a rainy day, she was born with a disorder that has kept her in long-term care for most of her life. In 2020 Bella was hoping to attend BravoCon, but it was cancelled due to the pandemic. The event has returned in 2021, but Bella’s health is deteriorating and traveling is no longer an option. So the troops rallied and brought BravoCon to Bella, thanks to Real Housewives of D.C. alum, Mary Amons.
The Godfather music is playing on a loop in my head and if I wind up wearing a pair of cement boots that I didn’t order, here is my swan song. For the record, this situation has absolutely nothing at all to do with mob ties, mafia families, or sleeping with the fishes, and my Godfather reference was purely random… Let’s talk about Real Housewives of New Jersey and how all the action is happening not only offscreen, but between people who are no longer on the show.
Bravo gave us RHONJ and introduced viewers to sisters Caroline Manzo and Dina Manzo with a very subtle nod to previous dealings in the organized crime industry. Under the umbrella of denials and “I didn’t see a thing“, the crew always laughed off rumors of a family connection. Sadly, no one is currently laughing because there is evidence of hired hits, bad blood, dueling sisters, and now… the children are involved. Caroline’s oldest son, Albie Manzo would like a word.
Even though it’s been several seasons since a member of the Manzo family made an appearance on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, that doesn’t mean that they’re done with the drama. Caroline Manzo and Dina Manzo, the sisters who married brothers, are still going head-to-head as part of a years-long feud that’s never slowed down. And while Dina has moved to Malibu and found her inner zen, Caroline’s recent actions are trying to take away her namaste.
Dina’s had quite a tumultuous couple of years after she split from her ex Tommy Manzo. Tommy allegedly hired a member of the Lucchese crime family, who pleaded guilty, to attack her new husband, David Cantin. But, of course, if you ask the Manzos, they claim to have never even heard of the mob, let alone admit having any ties to it. Two years later, Dina and David were victims of a violent home invasion where they were beaten up, zip-tied together and the thieves stole money and jewelry. It’s alleged that Tommy was involved in that home invasion, but he and his lawyer are proclaiming his innocence in both cases. Even though there’s a court order requiring him to stay far away from his ex-wife and her new man.
And Caroline fits into this as she’s taken the side of Albert Manzo’s brother, Tommy. Yes, the one being accused of attacking her own sister. She wrote a letter to advocate for Tommy’s character to help his case. If you thought Ashley Darby was sleazy for writing a statement about Candiace Dillard Bassett to help out Monique Samuels on Real Housewives of Potomac, this is a whole other level of betrayal.
Even though family has been a central theme to the Real H0usewives of New Jersey since Season 1, that doesn’t mean cast members old and new always have their kin’s back. Teresa Giudice, Joe Gorga and Melissa Gorga have sure gone through their fair share of arguments before getting to the positive and relatively peaceful place they are today. Prior to that, Caroline Manzo, Dina Manzo and Jacqueline Laurita’s relationships were tested on the show, despite their proclamations that they’re “thick as thieves.”
Even though it’s been several seasons since Dina, and Caroline for that matter, have appeared on RHONJ, their life has been filled with more drama than when they were on the show. Dina has a new husband, David Cantin, and is living a namaste lifestyle in Malibu. However, her revengeful ex-husband, Tommy Manzo, apparently doesn’t want to see her live her happily ever after.
As the seasonal turnover of Housewife franchises takes place, fans are left wondering what exactly goes into casting the newest women in their favorite cities. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, for example, is welcoming a couple new faces after adding some last season as well. Fans of RHOBH have added Crystal Minkoff and Kathy Hilton to their rosters with the start of season 11. Meanwhile, Real Housewives of New York has added Eboni K. Williams and lost both Tinsley Mortimer and Dorinda Medley this year.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Andy Cohen has been answering for his casting decisions left and right since the recent seasons of RHOBH and RHONY have aired. In fact, we owe Garcelle Beauvais, a season 10 addition to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, for getting to the bottom of things.
Before the Real Housewives of New Jersey was totally the Teresa Giudice and family show, it was all about the Manzos. Estranged sisters Dina Manzo and Caroline Manzo are OGs. They talked about bubbies, hosted family dinners with Tre and Jaqueline Laurita and they were so “thick as thieves” that they were married to brothers, Albert Manzo and Tommy Manzo. But like Tommy and Dina’s marriage, the sisters’ relationship has been on the rocks for years. While Tre is the queen of RHONJ. No matter what “fans” like Jackie Goldschneider have to say, the Manzo/Laurita family drama did make the old days of the show.
Even though Dina left the sho (aka was frightened off by Danielle Staub) after the first season, her life has become a TV show all its own. Maybe more like The Sopranos this time. Despite Albie’s denial, Tommy seemingly has been using his mob ties to attack Dina and her newest husband David Cantin. Dina’s life is so peace and love if you follow her on Instagram, so it’s shocking and disturbing to see the turn this has taken.
