As the seasonal turnover of Housewife franchises takes place, fans are left wondering what exactly goes into casting the newest women in their favorite cities. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, for example, is welcoming a couple new faces after adding some last season as well. Fans of RHOBH have added Crystal Minkoff and Kathy Hilton to their rosters with the start of season 11. Meanwhile, Real Housewives of New York has added Eboni K. Williams and lost both Tinsley Mortimer and Dorinda Medley this year.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Andy Cohen has been answering for his casting decisions left and right since the recent seasons of RHOBH and RHONY have aired. In fact, we owe Garcelle Beauvais, a season 10 addition to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, for getting to the bottom of things.
Before the Real Housewives of New Jersey was totally the Teresa Giudice and family show, it was all about the Manzos. Estranged sisters Dina Manzo and Caroline Manzo are OGs. They talked about bubbies, hosted family dinners with Tre and Jaqueline Laurita and they were so “thick as thieves” that they were married to brothers, Albert Manzo and Tommy Manzo. But like Tommy and Dina’s marriage, the sisters’ relationship has been on the rocks for years. While Tre is the queen of RHONJ. No matter what “fans” like Jackie Goldschneider have to say, the Manzo/Laurita family drama did make the old days of the show.
Even though Dina left the sho (aka was frightened off by Danielle Staub) after the first season, her life has become a TV show all its own. Maybe more like The Sopranos this time. Despite Albie’s denial, Tommy seemingly has been using his mob ties to attack Dina and her newest husband David Cantin. Dina’s life is so peace and love if you follow her on Instagram, so it’s shocking and disturbing to see the turn this has taken.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey has been the Teresa Giudice show since her table flip heard around the world. Eleven seasons later and she’s still feuding with the Gorgas, mixing up her words and centering her world around her four dortors. A lot has changed from the good old days when she’d drink wine with Jacqueline Laurita and Caroline Manzo during girls’ nights and massive family dinners. They were truly like one big blended family until things took a nasty turn.
Jacqueline and Caroline’s days on RHONJ are long gone. And maybe it’s best that way — as Dolores Catania said, these three together could be World War III. While Caroline never says never about a return, it seems like Jacqueline is past this phase in her life. If only her daughter Ashlee Holmes took a lesson from her, as she’s still feuding with Danielle Staub several years and hair-pulls later.
Love her or hate her, Teresa Giudice is undoubtedly the OG of OGs when it comes to real housewives. Her family drama is a major reason that Real Housewives of New Jersey delivers season after season. Whether she’s throwing away Melissa Gorga’s sprinkle cookies, igniting a fight between her ex Joe Giudice and brother Joe Gorga or going to bat for her four dortors, her family is always center stage.
And it even goes back to the early days when Melissa and Tre’s cousin Kathy Wakile joined RHONJ behind her back, which Tre says is the “worst thing to ever happen to her.” Nope, not jail. Not her ex being deported. It was her family trying to take her crown.
The most recent episode of the Real Housewives Of New Jersey brought us back to the good old days. Teresa Giudice got into a fight with Joe Gorga and Melissa Gorga because she was defending her ex Joe Giudice. Yeah, the one who got her thrown in jail, “allegedly” cheated on her and put her down time and time again. Tre’s logic has never really made sense, as she always expects twice the amount of loyalty from her brother than she gives to them.
The episode brought us back to the Lake George family retreat days. Joe Gorga screamed and banged his fists on the table, blaming Juicy Joe for putting his mother in an early grave. Melissa threw a cheese plate out of anger towards Teresa, which she immediately cleaned up mid-fight. And Tre just sat there in shock. Except unlike the old days, they all were able to quickly make up. Thankfully, because we all know Joey would hate to see his sister fight with his wife to get back to the sprinkle cookies level ever again.
It could have been really interesting to have Dolores Catania and Dina Manzo on Real Housewives of New Jersey at the same time. They’re both close with Teresa Giudice. Dolores is close with Dina’s estranged sister Caroline Manzo, who Teresa can’t stand.
The Manzo ladies in the mix with Dolores could have blessed us all with some fiery arguments, especially since Dolores is not a fan of Dina’s.
Jackie Goldschneider delivered the analogy heard around the world during last night’s Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 11 premiere episode. Or at least the Bravo world. In response to Teresa Giudice refusing to take back the cheating accusations against Evan Goldschneider, Jackie said “Gia [Giudice] does cocaine in the bathroom at parties.” She wanted Teresa to understand the pain that she felt. However, Teresa just saw red and said the “C” word several times before storming out of Margaret Josephs‘ house.
Many people wondered why Jackie just didn’t bring up the cheating claims against Teresa to create a better analogy. Or even the cheating claims against Joe Giudice. Others are just confused by Teresa’s confusion. Dorinda Medley called out Jackie for being “the lowest of the lowest.” Margaret, Melissa Gorga, and Jennifer Aydin condemned Jackie for mentioning Gia. Jackie maintained that she had zero regrets. And, ironically, she said that “children and husbands are off-limits.” There’s a ton to unpack and many Housewives are speaking out, even a former New Jersey Housewife.
Teresa Giudice is the OG of Real Housewives of New Jersey. That’s a fact. Way back during Season 1 Tre was more of a RHONJ side character because it centered on the Manzo family. Caroline Manzo, Dina Manzo, and Jacqueline Laurita are related through blood or marriage. Teresa was their just their kooky, over-the-top friend in need of new bubbies.
That all changed during (one of) the most iconic dinner scenes ever filmed for Housewives. You know the one where Tre flipped the table on “prostitution whore,” Danielle Staub,“engaged 19 times,” and mentioned in Jersey’s favorite doorstop, Cop Without a Badge. After that, Housewives changed forever and Tre became the center of the show. Since then she’s shown the ugliest parts of her entire life on camera. She’s afraid of no one, has no boundaries, and brought all the drama in the first ten minutes of last night’s premier. Could we say Tre is the GOAT?
