Well, well, what do we have here? Have we lost another Bravo show? This is the time of year Southern Charm is in production, yet word on the street is no one is filming. The Charleston show was knee-deep in the swamps last season. We had Austen Kroll thinking he was Lady Chatterley’s Lover. Then there was the STD scandal, courtesy of Austen’s then-girlfriend, Madison LeCroy. And of course, Kathryn Dennis did not disappoint in her continued struggle to navigate motherhood and sobriety.
So what gives? We haven’t heard any rumblings about the show being axed and there is seemingly no reason why cameras shouldn’t be rolling. Unless Bravo and Haymaker are too involved with active lawsuits brought on by former cast members. Is it possible we have seen the end of Craig Conover’s pillow making empire? Will viewers be left hanging on the threads of Shep Rose’s non-existent love life? In a new interview, Shep gives an update on the future of Southern Charm. If there is a future.
Can you believe it has been over a month since the finale of Southern Charm? Although it might not have been the most exciting season, it was still enjoyable spending time with the Charleston gang. We watched Cameran Eubanks grow into motherhood. Kathryn Dennis mostly laid low, in the midst of an ugly custody battle with ex Thomas Ravenel. Austen Kroll spent the season in relationship drama with Madison Lecroy. And Shep Rose, well, he somehow morphed into the world’s oldest, angriest frat boy.
Craig Conover had his share of ups and downs during Season 6. He began to move on from ex Naomie Olindo, but later revealed during the reunion that he had been battling a problem with Adderall. Despite Craig’s issues, he finally started to move forward with his pillow business, Sewing Down South. It was great to see him start to come into his own. Craig also just announced another venture into business, Mesu, a Mexican-sushi fusion restaurant in Charleston.
Southern Charm’s Craig Conover has always been a little slow to follow up with his goals. Viewers watched for several seasons while Craig procrastinated about taking the bar exam. His girlfriend at the time, Naomie Olindo, frequently expressed frustration with his easy-going approach to life. Co-star Shep Rose made fun of Craig for his lack of direction. When Craig had an opportunity to partner with Patricia Altschul on a pillow project, he failed to follow through with deadlines and she was forced to put the project on hold.
This year, however, Craig seems to be more ambitious. He has started an online pillow business, Sewing Down South, even selling out in an hour at his first in-store appearance. Now, Craig is expending his horizons even further, with his announcement that he has ventured into the restaurant business.
As much as Shep Rose can’t stand being around Madison LeCroy, his adamant objections have pretty much guaranteed that he will be around her even more. His very vocal opinions have not done much to sway her on-again-off-again boyfriend Austen Kroll.
However, the tension between Shep and Madison means that it is very likely that she will be around for another season of Southern Charm. She contributed a lot more to the last season than most of the full-time cast members. If Shep managed to ignore her or just rein in his emotions, Madison would not have made as big of a splash that she did. Since Shep and Madison will (probably) have to hang out in the near future, Madison weighed in on what he would have to do for her to enjoy the experience.
Labor Day means a long weekend, which usually translates to some fun times with family and friends. Some of the Vanderpump Rules cast members headed down to Cabo to celebrate Lala Kent’s twenty-ninth birthday. Lala posted a photo in her birthday suit. Stassi Schroeder posed with a sombrero on. Katie Maloney showed off her assets for the camera as well.
Meanwhile, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright went out of the way to make sure that their social media followers knew that they missed their flights to Cabo just in case anyone wondered if they weren’t invited. And I can’t blame them given Jax’s other cast feuds.
Our summer with the folks of Southern Charm has come to a bittersweet end. Sweet because it’s over, and bitter because the story line centered around a withering bromance and toxic romance of an Austen Kroll triangle. The wayward beer enthusiast spent the season entangled in a twisted web, pulled between his snobby, elitist wing man and shrill, roid-raging girlfriend. It wasn’t the stuff of Bravo dreams…that’s for sure!
Andy Cohen welcomes Danni Baird to the sofa before Austen continues to lecture Kathryn Dennis about her admittedly odd Watch What Happens Live appearance. Naomie Olindo interjects to state that a friend of hers witnessed Kathryn drinking before her evening in the clubhouse. Cameran Eubanks had the same snitch friend texting her this intel as well. Kathryn maintains that she didn’t have a sip of alcohol before WWHL, and she’d admit it if she did.
In fact, Kathryn has already shared that she is back to drinking in moderation…whatever that means. Craig Conover reveals that often times the cast has lied about seeing Kathryn drink because they didn’t think she was allowed to drink. Shep Rose agrees that they have all defended Kathryn’s reputation more than she knows.
Nothing spells love like dating, breaking up, and ultimately breaking…again. Oh, and throw some adultery in the mix as well and you must have true love!
This disaster of a relationship recipe is why Southern Charm’s Madison LeCroy holds out hope that she will end up with Austen Kroll. Someone needs to tell this girl to move on!
Southern Charm’s most recent dysfunctional couple, Madison LeCroy and Austen Kroll, have had many ups and downs. They have broken up and gotten back together numerous times. They have also cheated on each other. But the heart wants what the heart wants.
However, Austen’s two best frenemies, Shep Rose and Craig Conover, have been more than clear where they stand when it comes to his relationship with Madison.
