Brooks Ayers Cancer

The Duggars - Now Canceled 19 Kids & Counting

One thing we can always count on reality TV stars for is drama! As 2015 comes to a close we’re revisiting the year’s most shocking and scandalous headlines. And of course we’re eager to see what 2016 has in store.

Among the craziest stories this year, notorious Real Housewives Of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice self-surrendered to federal prison, and Vicki Gunvalson‘s ex-boyfriend Brooks Ayers admitted to faking cancer documents.

Probably the biggest headline concerned the Duggar family, formerly one of TLC’s most popular attractions until eldest son Josh Duggar undid the family dynasty! The Conservative Family Values advocate found himself embroiled in two extremely salacious sex scandals. TLC ultimately canceled 19 Kids & Counting.

This was just the latest bad press for the network: in 2014 their once-popular Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was canceled when matriarch Mama June was caught dating the man who served time in prison for molesting her eldest daughter Anna. TLC also continues to face controversy over Kate Plus 8, which returned to television following a long hiatus.

Jeff Lewis and Vicki Gunvalson both know a little bit about Flipping Out! They’ve also both been on reality TV since Bravo was a channel people were still trying to find in their expanded cable package. So, they know a thing or two about how this game works, and how to work it when the chips are down. This begs the question: Are Andy Cohen’s OG’s joining forces now that Vicki’s future on the Real Housewives of Orange County has come under scrutiny?

RHOC served up an exhausting season of watching Vicki defend her lying sack o’ shizz boyfriend Brooks Ayers over his claims of “fighting cancer” – followed by Vicki claiming she was “duped! duped, I say!” when the truth (at least about Brooks faking his medical documents) came to light. As a result, Vicki has some serious ground to make up with viewers who claim she is also a liar. But can Vicki’s besmirched reputation ever be restored to its former bed-wetting glory?

Remember that time Brooks Ayers really had cancer and wanted to prove it so badly that he falsified doctor’s reports? While he’s no longer filling the love tank of OG Vicki Gunvalson, Brooks certainly created a great story line for the viewers of Real Housewives of Orange County. Not only is faking cancer the most deplorable tall tale one could create, but why would someone do it while being filmed for a popular reality series? Of course, I am not saying Brooks lied about having cancer, but that’s mainly because, you know…legal stuff.

While all of Vicki’s co-stars doubt Brooks account of his health thanks to a lot of discrepancies, his random treatments (or lack thereof), that damn psychic, and just a basic distrust of Brooks in general, it’s only been recently that Vicki has distanced herself from the man who has been consistently wrecking her reputation. Now, her family wants Brooks punished for also defaming the reputable medical provider who he touted as the producer of his fake reports.

Vicki argues with Jim and Meghan on RHOC

In the world of Reality TV, most “celebrities” are on a constant mission to stay relevant. In the world of Vicki Gunvalson, she seems on a constant mission to shake off the stank that is Brooks Ayers and his ongoing I Have Cancer, For Reals! storyline. But is she going about it in all of the wrong ways?

Last week, Vicki launched a new perfume, V by Vicki, to – err – dubious responses, both on social media and the perfume’s sale sites. This week, Vicki is jumping from Real Housewives of Orange County to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drama to add her two cents to one of the two big storylines this season: the imminent divorce of Yolanda and David Foster

Shannon Beador

Shannon Beador took to Facebook chat to sound off on Vicki Gunvalson‘s one-on-one with Andy Cohen. Because, of course she did, while going on and on about how she’s done talking about Vicki Gunvalson and Brooks Ayers.

Shannon begins, “I’m so freaking done talking about the Vicki/Brooks cancer freaking lie nonsense, but I just watched the Watch What Happens Live special with Vicki and I am absolutely floored. The victim card… the ‘I was Duped‘ speaking engagement that Vicki Gunvalson is on is completely ridiculous to me. I just want to say a few things because I am really angry about what happened.”

Vicki Gunvalson on Watch What Happens Live

Vicki Gunvalson is one-on-one with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. Vicki shares her side of the Brooks Ayers cancer storyline that plagued Real Housewives of Orange County season 10.

About the fact that Brooks was never treated for cancer at City of Hope, Vicki says, “I obviously called him right away and said, ‘What the hell is going on?’ He’s like, ‘It’s a spokesperson from City of Hope. It was not my doctor who said that. My doctor practices out of City of Hope.’ I’m like, ‘You are a liar. This isn’t making sense. You are lying again. Tell the truth.’ I got a whole file here that we can go through that he says he has cancer. He had to orchestrate some crazy ass chain of lies in order for all of this to make sense. He brought work into this. He brought his friends into this. He brought me and the cast into this.”

Heather Dubrow's World

Heather Dubrow now has three episodes of her podcast, Heather Dubrow’s World, under her belt, and I have to admit, I have enjoyed each one of them. She’s a natural. This week, Heather chats with Paul Nasiff and Terry Dubrow, who ironically were not as easy to book as we would expect, about Botched.

But first, because the Real Housewives of Orange County world is all about Brooks Ayers and Vicki Gunvalson these days, Heather shares her thoughts on the latest news, that Brooks was never treated for cancer at City of Hope. “I don’t think it was a shock,” she says, “but the fact that City of Hope released an official statement is incredibly mind blowing.”

About Brooks‘ subsequent statement, Heather adds, “This is what is so crazy about it, he doesn’t admit to faking cancer, he admits to fabricating documents. So, the way he worded his statement was basically saying, ‘I didn’t intend to show my own medical records, so for the story and television purposes, I made up documents. I doctored these documents, to show on the show, because I did not want to show my own medical records.’ Which makes no sense to me at all.”
