We all know that Monique Samuels will not be on Real Housewives of Potomac when the show returns for Season 6. It’s been rumored that she’s been replaced by Mia Thornton, but it’s unclear if Mia is a full-time Housewife or a part-time cast member.
We also don’t know if there are any other new additions to the cast, but there is some potentially explosive gossip circulating.
How is everyone doing? Are you all recovered from the Real Housewives of Potomac calamity yet? For anyone who isn’t keeping up with arguably one of the best modern day franchises, this latest season was a stunner. Following some bad behavior (but nothing we haven’t seen before – several times – like so many times), and a whole lot of media bashing, Housewife Monique Samuels made the decision to leave the show.
After her exit from the show, Potomac producers reportedly began looking for TWO new Housewives to join the cast. Before you get too excited, no they’re not replacing Robyn Dixon quite yet. Can you believe she’s squeaked through this long on an ex-husband and condo-living story line?
Monique Samuels had one hell of a season on Real Housewives of Potomac. There were ups, downs, and that one time Monique took Candiace Dillard’s hair for a quick spin around a restaurant. Monique might be rough around the edges, but at least she responds to co-workers when they ask for something. It seemed like our country’s political divide in 2020 had nothing on the debate fans had after the RHOP barn brawl.
One of the biggest concerns was the violence between Mo and Candy and exactly who was responsible. Both were expected to return to the show, but Monique opted out of coming back after the reunion didn’t go in her favor. To be fair, the reunion didn’t go in anyone’s favor, especially Andy Cohen’s. After suggesting Bravo set her up during the season 5 reunion tapings, Monique took her binder, her bird, and peaced out. Now Mo says she will never return to the
scene of the crime show because she was “treated unfairly”.
This past season of Real Housewives of Potomac should go down in the Housewives Hall Of Fame. The entire season surrounded the shocking fight between Candiace Dillard Bassett and Monique Samuels. But, that was enough for me. Everyone taking sides in the aftermath was as study in housewives alliances.
Since filming wrapped and the season came out, things have only gotten more heated. Monique was on an island of her own with her castmates. The poor girl was left to defend herself with a binder full of receipts at the reunion. Then she announced she wouldn’t be coming back for another season, leaving fans shocked.
We’ve entered an era where “unity” is the new buzzword on deck. In theory, we are to work with and accept those who don’t necessarily think the way we do, in an effort to bring people together for the overall betterment of humanity. It’s a nice idea, but apparently that particular message of harmony has yet to reach the Real Housewives of Potomac. Lots of things happened during the 5th season of RHOP and unity wasn’t one of them.
Candiace Dillard’s square tissue became a star. Monique Samuels’ African Grey became an icon. There was… a fight. And longtime friends Karen Huger and Gizelle Bryant found themselves on opposite teams, insulting each other through many of the episodes. The Grand Dame and Giz neither resolved their issues or agreed to disagree, so if you think the insulting stopped just because they aren’t currently filming, you would be wrong. Now we learn Karen hasn’t even spoken to Gizelle since the reunion, but she has spoken about Gizelle since the reunion.
All good things must come to an end, and then there’s this season of Real Housewives of Orange County. Because of the Rona, we didn’t have as many episodes produced, so that was a tiny gift to viewers. I doubt anyone will dispute it was Braunwyn Windham-Burke’s season. Not so much because she is a compelling individual, she just pulled every card in the Bravo playbook and laid them all down.
Elizabeth Lyn Vargas was supposed to be a breath of fresh air, but, was she? Elizabeth may or may not be hiding stuff about her marriage, divorce, and relationship with that dude she definitely isn’t banging. Shannon Beador’s new man was supposed to soften her attitude. Unfortunately, that ‘tude is sharper than ever and those edges are jagged – and for Christ’s sake, she asked for EGG WHITES. Our favorite scientist Kelly Dodd’s job might be on the line, because her mouth is it’s own entity. RHOC is finally over and the reunion is coming. Let’s see what we’re in for.
It was a given that the physical fight between Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard would dominate the Season 5 Real Housewives of Potomac reunion. And Monique came ready to rumble. While many Housewives bring some receipts to the reunion, Monique outdid them all with a binder full of receipts.
There wasn’t any resolution between Candiace and Monique during the RHOP reunion. Monique did apologize, but Candiace declined to accept it.
I think everyone might agree several shows on Bravo could benefit from a cast shake-up. Even after surviving a controversial season, it appeared the cast of Real Housewives of Potomac would remain intact. To say these ladies have some issues is being generous. From hands-on combat to sketchy “men of God” with more illegitimate children than sense, RHOP checked a lot of unusual boxes.
Viewers will say ta ta to Monique Samuels. Despite a physical fight with Candiace Dillard, Mo originally decided to stay on the show until the reunion changed her mind. There have also been rumors that Robyn Dixon, while not generally disliked, some fans feel she adds nothing to the cast and needs to go sit wherever Juan Dixon is. Obviously Monique’s departure leaves a hole to be filled, but word on the street is RHOP is looking to cast two new people. Is someone’s check in jeopardy? Did having four degrees not make DOCTOR Wendy Osefo interesting? Can we offer T’Challa a spot?
