After some lunchtime cocktails, Monique Samuels dozed off behind the wheel and got into a car accident. As a result, the Housewives wondered if Monique has a drinking problem during the last episode of Real Housewives of Potomac.
Buckle up friends because this week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac was a wild ride. Monique Samuels may have gone fly fishing instead of clay pigeon shooting, but she spent most of her time dodging verbal bullets. Karen Huger is bringing her “A” game to the show even though she refuses to participate in anything sporty or athletic. Candiace Dillard is still fighting with Charrisse Jordan and Ashley Darby is putting out all her dirty laundry (with the exception of a little something that may or may not allegedly happened in a London hotel). Gizelle Bryant brought her usual snarky commentary which I personally laugh at even though it’s everything I’ve told my children not to do. Finally, Robyn Dixon was… help me out people… she’s… very sporty.
We start back where we left off last week: At the luncheon in Nemacolins Resort where Candiace and Gizelle are having the “you’re dumb no you’re dumb” fight. Thankfully, Ashley hops up from the table and decides that it’s time to show the women their rooms. Monique is still a little toasted from her bottle of wine on the way up, so she doesn’t care what room she gets just as long as it has clean sheets, a soft pillow, and I’m guessing a bottle of aspirin for the next morning. Gizelle and Karen aren’t tired though, and they meet up to gossip. Neither really understands Candiace at all, but they both think her calling Charrisse ‘Geriatric Grandma’ was pretty funny. Sidebar: I really like when Gizelle and Karen talk like this together and was sorry to hear Karen say on WWHL that they are now enemies.
New girl Candiace Dillard isn’t wasting any time making enemies on Real Housewives of Potomac. As expected, Gizelle Bryant couldn’t stand her right from the jump. Gizelle has never warmed up to the new cast members, so that wasn’t shocking.
During the last episode, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan asked if Candiace’s mom bought her engagement ring. Candiace didn’t react to the comment right away but she
acted out for camera time confronted her about it later on- in front of the whole cast.
If you’ve been watching Real Housewives of Potomac since season one, it’s expected that Gizelle Bryant will not like the New Housewife. Instead of assuming Gizelle is difficult, let’s play devil’s advocate here. Are they just intentionally casting people assuming that their personalities will clash with Gizelle’s? It is possible, but it is not likely.
Gizelle spent most of last season feuding with Charrisse Jackson-Jordan. She even accused Charrisse of having an affair with a fireman. Now, she is on Charrisse’s side this year. Maybe it just has something to do with seniority among the cast members. Charrisse was blatantly trying to insult new cast member Candiace Dillard by asking if her mother bought her engagement ring. Candiace referred to it as a “shady bitch comment”- which it was. Nevertheless, Gizelle is going to bat for Charrisse and insists that Candiace owes Charrisse an apology.
Even though this is only the third season of Real Housewives of Potomac, the viewers should expect Gizelle Bryant to take issue with the newest Housewife every single year. It happened with Ashley Darby Season 1, Monique Samuels during Season 2, and now Candiace Dillard is caught in the crossfire during Season 3.
Gizelle wasn’t the only one coming for Candiace though. Charrisse Jackson-Jordan– who isn’t even a full-time cast member this season- asked Candiace if her mother paid for her engagement ring during the last episode. Obviously she was trying to stir shit up and she knew exactly what she was doing, but she wouldn’t own it, and Candiace unleashed on her for what Candiace described as a “shady bitch” comment.
After the Uber comment controversy, NeNe Leakes is back at it with her comedy show. Her latest show went down in Washington, D.C. and she had her Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Cynthia Bailey on hand for support.
Real Housewives of Potomac cast members Karen Huger, Candiace Dilliard, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, and Monique Samuels turned the comedy show into an Atlanta/Potomac crossover by showing up to support NeNe as well. Karen’s husband Ray Huger, Candiace’s fiancé Chris Bassett, and Monique’s husband Chris Samuels were also on hand to check out NeNe doing her thing in the nation’s Capitol.
Sometimes a Housewife has a really bad day. This week’s episode of the Real Housewives of Potomac was Robyn Dixon’s turn. Robyn is like a boxer who comes out swinging and yelling at the opponent “Hit me!” with her chin sticking out. And when they do it, she’s shocked and can’t understand why they came at her.
We start back at last week’s press conference where Karen Huger is deflecting questions and declaring that she is shutting it down. Robyn is still yelling at Karen to tell the truth. Gizelle Bryant takes one last swing at Karen on the way out by showing the back of her t-shirt that says, “#freeuncleben” and “#taxreform”. Karen yells that Gizelle is tacky as hell, and I have to say it wasn’t Gizelle’s finest moment. Monique Samuels decides that Gizelle came to clown around and looked like a clown in her 99 cent shirt…and Robyn follows. Karen and her assistant get in the car to leave, but Robyn has to take one last dig at her. She taps on the window of Karen’s car and asks, “Why are you so mad?” Come on Robyn. We all know you aren’t that dense.
I tuned into the Season 3 premiere episode of Real Housewives of Potomac dying to know what went down behind the scenes with Karen Huger’s financial situation, her husband Ray Huger’s $3 million dollar tax debt, and their sudden move to Great Falls after two seasons of bragging about being the self-proclaimed “Grand Dame of Potomac.”
Karen’s delusions of grandeur- and not knowing what a blog is- gave me the entertainment that I expected, but we were also hit with some raw emotions watching Ashley Darby pack up her apartment to move back in with her estranged husband Michael Darby. The realness of Ashley and Michael trying to salvage their marriage was in stark contrast to the Huger family fakery.
