Last night was part two of the dramatic Teen Mom 2 reunion. And we have to call it out: really MTV with the dramatic editing? Really? Flashing the fight into black and white (blurry) stills? It was not an iconic fight. And you can just stop trying to make it into something that should be celebrated.
Especially since you built up a bit of dramatic energy just to cut right to Leah Messer’s segment when she had nothing to do with the fight at all. Honestly, the true reality of Ali’s situation and Leah and Corey dealing with a sick child as parents should put the pettiness of everything else into perspective. But it’s MTV so don’t worry, it doesn’t. That is really the only meat of her segment. Corey Simms Skypes in for a couple minutes and shares that he and Miranda are celebrating five years of marriage. His segment was short and a little awkward.
Kail is literally obsessed with Jeremy and Leah getting back together. She loves them as a couple, and thinks there’s a real possibility of them giving their relationship another go. She also wants them to have another baby together! Leah however, insists it’s “never” happening. “I think he knows that,” she teases, although at Kail’s prompting Leah finally admits Jeremy recently asked her out on a date, but she suggested they take Addie out instead. Ouch! Leah and Jeremy did go to some a pottery place together (which was filmed!) and Leah made a dog bowl for her dog.
Tonight is part two of the Teen Mom 2 finale special and since we didn’t get to see Briana DeJesusat all in the first one, the producers make up for it this time around. As Dr. Drew points out, in the last four years since MTV viewers saw Briana, a lot has changed and a lot is still the same. As in, Briana dealt with another pregnancy and another baby daddy to battle with. Briana starts with a heavy sigh and says she needs a vacation. Dr. Drew is quick to remind her that you don’t get one with kids and then moves on to asking how her castmates are treating her. Briana purses her lips, clearly acknowledging an issue exists but hesitant to call someone out. Finally, she tells us how her and her family’s close relationship with Javi Marroquin has made Kailyn Lowry feel some kind of way. Because of this, the rest of the moms have followed suit and haven’t exactly been welcoming.
Briana updates us on baby Stella, who is doing better health wise but has only seen her dad, Luis, two more times and she’s four months now. To his credit, Briana says that he’s out of trucking school, working and paying for Stella’s daycare so while he isn’t exactly involved on an emotional level, he’s at least doing something.
On Teen Mom 2, it’s more of the same and it seems like some issues will never get resolved in the long term. Jenelle Evans is still at war with mom Barb, despite the custody agreement that was supposed to make everything easier. Kailyn Lowry and ex-husband Javi Marroquin are in the same boat but instead of custody, it’s child support that is dragging out. Briana DeJesus doesn’t have a custody or child support issue yet but likely will in the near future since baby daddy Luis is starting to disappear. Chelsea DeBoer has plenty on her plate between wedding planning, possibly modifying custody and changing Aubree’s last name at Aubree’s request. Leah Messer has her hands full as twins Ali and Aleeah’s fighting escalates. That seems like a good place to start so let’s get going.
Leah is driving the twins to see their dad and they are in the backseat, slapping and hitting each other while they argue over sharing beef jerky. Once they are with dad Corey Simms, the fighting doesn’t stop as Aleeah catches a fish and Ali complains that she’s bored and wants to leave since she can’t really partake in catching fish at the lake. Aleeah reels one in and wants to stay, but they opt to leave and Corey has to break up another fight that starts the second they are in the car with one another. Aleeah is in tears and Corey knows she is acting out because she is getting less attention.
Last night’s episode of Teen Mom 2 has given us the long-awaited conclusion of Jenelle Evans’ court battle for Jace. Spoiler alert: Jenelle doesn’t exactly get her way. Speaking of court, Kailyn Lowry thought she could catch a break from it now that her divorce is finalized but her ex, Jo Rivera, has different plans and she finds herself speed dialing a lawyer again. The other Teen Moms have decidedly less drama so let’s start with them.
Life is good for Chelsea DeBoer and husband Cole as they plan for their upcoming wedding reception and settle into life as a family of four. Chelsea meets her Dad downtown at her Stepmom’s shop to pick up the kids after Randy watched them last night. They talk about how Aubree is going to see Adam Lind for Father’s Day but Chelsea isn’t so sure she will actually do anything outside of seeing him. On the drive home, Chelsea asks Aubree if she’s excited to see her Dad and she says he always sleeps when she is there and never plays with him.
Tonight’s episode of Teen Mom 2 left me with more questions than answers when it comes to the state of affairs for Kailyn Lowry, Briana DeJesus and Jenelle Evans. It seems like everything is always up in the air and nothing is ever resolved in their lives.
Starting with Kail, the ups and downs with ex-husband Javi Marroquin continue and ever since he filed for child support, they have been down. Despite the tension, Kail claims she is doing her best to make sure he sees the boys but when he can’t pick them up at the spot she designated, that quickly goes out the window. She decides to meet him in a parking lot that’s convenient for her but after a few texts from him, pulls off angrily and explains in detail to the boys that “Javi” (not Dad) doesn’t have the right car with car seats to pick them up so they have to come to school with her.
On tonight’s episode of Teen Mom 2, life is settling into a nice rhythm – Chelsea DeBoerhas more babies on the brain and Kailyn Lowry seems to have found some harmony with ex Javi Marroquin. Unfortunately, not all in Teen Mom land are settled – Leah Messer is in limbo waiting to find out why Ali has been having breathing problems, Briana DeJesus is still wary of baby daddy Luis’s intentions once the baby is here and Jenelle Evans, well, just brace yourself for another rough episode of her and mom Barb fighting over Jace. Let’s start with the good before the bad and the ugly.
Over at the DeBoer residence, Chelsea and husband Cole are setting up an adorable monthly marker photo shoot for baby Watson while Aubree helps. He is getting so big and he sure is cute, making Chelsea admit that she has an official case of baby fever. Cole is game for more and says he’s ready when Chelsea is ready. Chelsea floats the idea of right now and Cole doesn’t even flinch – he’s fully on board if that’s what Chelsea wants to do.
If you’re a Teen Mom 2 fan (or not), you likely saw the unintended reveal of Kailyn Lowry’s pregnancy news as it happened on Twitter, courtesy of fellow cast mate, Jenelle Evans. Tonight you get to see what happened behind the scenes. Well, whatever Kail is willing to show, that is.
Kail maintains that she didn’t announce her pregnancy on social media because she wanted control of her own story and more importantly, she hadn’t passed the 20 week scan to make sure everything is ok. I can respect that –while she did sign up for a reality show, I do think some things are a given when it comes to privacy and pregnancy is one of them. Too bad Jenelle did not get the memo on that one and tweeted Kail congrats on her third pregnancy, blowing her whole cover. Naturally, Kail was pissed and wanted to get to the bottom of it. Jenelle said the MTV crew told her but when Kail confronted them, she decided that was unlikely she’s right but more on that in a second.
