Join the club, Kim Richards. Now she has something in common with 97% of the people currently featured on Bravo! While that isn’t necessarily anything to be proud of, once again, as least she doesn’t have anything to do with stealing from widows and orphans. And if you think I’m going to refer to widows and orphans repeatedly so no one forgets what others are trying so desperately to hide, you would be 100% CORRECT.
Viewers won’t see Kim on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season, but don’t worry, Kyle Richards is required to mention her name whenever the audience begins to find her boring, so basically all the time. Kathy Hilton has taken over as Kyle’s latest
storyline sibling, but Kim is still in the news. After discovering her shelved tell-all book was going to print, things were looking up for Kimbo until more tax woes reared their ugly head. Step aside Kyle because houses aren’t involved, the government is trying to make Kim pay her goddamned taxes.
Season after season the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills falls flat. I’m not referring to their ratings, which are somehow doing fine. No, what I’m referring to is the fact that these women seem to mull over one major issue essentially flattening the drama to one or two conversations. Conversations that take place over, and over, and over, and over, again. Panty-gate. Puppy-gate. Etc.
Currently, we have been semi-spared by Erika Jayne’s legal drama. But, beyond that its….a whole lot of nothing. Besides Lisa Rinna name dropping Scott Disick at every turn, the only other thing we have going on is a debate over the definition of the word “violation.” You know it’s getting juicy when the chyron starts looking like Webster’s Dictionary. Not.
Erika Jayne is mentioning it all! Whether or not you believer what she’s saying doesn’t change how intense this drama is. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is making a major move to return to its former glory. This is classic BH with the juiciest dark and twisty drama possible. Erika’s divorce from Tom Girardi is giving fans bombshells and plot twists left and right. What do you believe? Is Erika telling the truth about the downfall of her love story?
The Erika drama is delicious, but Sutton Stracke & Crystal Kung Minkoff are carrying the season with their feud. Some might think it’s going on for far too long, but it’s the main glue of the season. These women are able to continue this fight at every turn, and it always feels out of nowhere. Every time you think this issue is dead, they find a way to revive it and further the tension. This is a feud that might never end.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newbie Sutton Stracke is doing the most to earn her diamond this season. She’s been in an ongoing feud with fellow newbie Crystal Kung Minkoff that just keeps getting worse. She’s the only one questioning Erika Jayne for her alleged involvement in Tom Girardi’s legal accusations following their
sham divorce. And she’s got her BFF Garcelle Beauvais by her side as the duo we didn’t know we needed on RHOBH. Take that, Lisa Rinna and Erika.
Sutton appeared on Season 10 of RHOBH as a friend-of, but the drama circled around the gang-up involving the Denise Richards and Brandi Glanville hookup allegations. Sutton’s a Southern Belle who loves couture and isn’t afraid to cry in public. And so far, she’s a good addition to a cast full of “great actors” who always don’t keep things 100% authentic, as Garcelle said. But we’re still getting to know about Sutton’s background and personal life. Even though we already know her lips are sealed when it comes to revealing the source of her riches.
Kathy Hilton is the shining star of the current (and her first) season on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She brings out a fun, light-hearted side of her sister Kyle Richards, who she lovingly refers to as Doogie. She can’t sleep without a box fan, doesn’t know what RedBull is and when asked what she would put in a flask, she said mouth wash. I repeat, MOUTH WASH.
While Kyle’s run on the show with a sister by her side hasn’t worked so well in the past, Kathy is the perfect friend-of who brings the laughs, and plenty of pranks, to RHOBH. And it seems like Kathy and Kyle have grown closer in the situation. Considering their rocky past, it’s a pleasant surprise. It’s been a long time coming for Kathy to make an appearance and now I never want her to leave the show. While she’s skeptical, she needs a diamond in her hand full-time so I can see more of her wacky life.
A few episodes of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills focused on a trip to Lake Tahoe where conflict was high and Erika Jayne sat around and pretended like everything was normal. Most people are watching this season because the spotlight is on Erika, but it’s a harsh spotlight aimed at widows and orphans instead of the stage. Obviously other things are going on with the cast in the interim, and we can’t leave anyone out.
Crystal Minkoff joined the show and Sutton Stracke is now a full-time diamond-holder, so the ladies are experiencing some growing pains if “growing pains” translates into high-sensitivity and claims of being violated. When Sutton tried to do a good deed and return Crystal’s coat, she entered her room while Crystal wasn’t dressed. I guess this one would be called #violategate. After watching the show and seeing what really happened, Crystal made a move unfamiliar to most viewers. In what might be the first time in RHOBH history, we are seeing what accountability looks like.
No one would fault at Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newbie for being apprehensive about joining the group. These ladies are a strong bunch of personalities and their reputations for drama and conflict is well documented. Even if you don’t watch the show, there’s enough tabloid fodder on each and every RHOBH cast mate to formulate an opinion.
These ladies are Beverly Hills veterans. Lisa Rinna and Garcelle Beauvais have worked in the entertainment industry for decades. Kyle Richards and Kathy Hilton were in tabloids for years by proxy of Paris Hilton. Erika Jayne has a persona and an alter ego that proceeds her wherever she goes. Dorit Kemsley has been on the show long enough to have some context about her character. Finally, Sutton Stracke. Well, Sutton is certainly making herself known now.
The time finally came during this week’s episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for Erika Jayne to do some talking about her divorce. And in true Erika fashion, she was vague and shady about the whole thing. Erika told a story of feeling alone and sad in her house so she decided to pack up her things and leave Tom Girardi after dropping him off at work. This comes days after she was literally filmed praising the man she had been with for over two decades. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the mounting accusations that Tom embezzled settlement funds from his clients to afford he and EJ’s XXPen$ive lifestyle (not). The episode, to me, looked like Erika’s attempt at putting her own spin on the divorce to continue this scapegoat narrative. But I get people have mixed opinions, so only time will tell.
And her fellow RHOBH ladies, who typically love a good gang-up, were totally fine with their “friend” giving minimal details about her divorce with a stone-cold demeanor. And the whole thing felt icky. Tom literally (and allegedly) stole from victims of horrible accidents to put directly in EJ’s bank account. Yet she’s trying to act tough on Twitter with her subtweets like she’s not totally under investigation for this whole thing as well. Erika has reached real-life Disney villain status and it’s not a good look for her.
