90 Day Fiance spinoff 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way successfully drew audiences in with a new premise: have the American partner move to a foreign country. Part of the appeal was watching the U.S. citizen reacting to their new culture and navigating the ways of the country.
For Deavan Clegg, it was the adjustment of living in a small space with husband Jihoon Lee and his parents. Since the show ended, Deavan often shares pictures of her life in Korea. And goodness, the food looks amazing! Unfortunately, the learning curve of living in a new country sometimes has negative consequences as well. Especially when it comes to decisions about body and health issues.
We have made it through the first season of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. Like other shows in the franchise, this version lured me in and got me hooked. I might not have learned anything and my IQ might be 10 points lower for having watched, but boy it was fun. Quality television that delivers!
Out of all the couples on the show, Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee were arguably the most likeable and relatable. Sure, they made some bad decisions, like getting pregnant immediately after meeting, but both seemed to have their hearts, if not their decision-making skills in the right place. One thing I could not figure out during the season was why Deavan was moving to South Korea when she had a job and family in the U.S., while Jihoon was struggling to get by. Deavan recently revealed how she came to the decision to move and her purported reasons behind it are both sad and shocking.

I want to know who is actually still together and who was in it for all the wrong reasons. Most of us can ascertain the difference. But don’t we all just want to know if our suspicions were right. The episode promises drama galore between the cast and couples. There is also a surprise guest who drops a bomb on Corey. There is also a mention of divorce. The cast will look back at some of the most intense moments of the season. Let’s discuss all the juicy details in the 90 Day Fiance The Other Way recap!
When we were first introduced to Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, we learned the couple initially connected on an international dating app. Within several months, the two met in person and Deavan immediately became pregnant. Although the couple hardly knew each other, they decided to make a go of it. Jihoon’s amazing parents came to the U.S. to spend more time with Deavan and her daughter Drascilla and the couple became engaged. Unfortunately, Jihoon was not able to arrive in the U.S. in time for the birth of their son, Taeyang.
Deavan and the baby soon moved to South Korea to be with Jihoon, initially leaving her daughter behind while she settled in the country. The couple faced challenges, both financial and cultural, but soon married. That is where we have left off at this point on the show, but it was recently revealed that the couple were expecting another baby. The pregnancy news actually leaked out when Deavan was asking insurance questions on a private Facebook group page and the screen shots went public.
Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance The Other Way left me shaking my head in disbelief on more than one occasion. It’s hard to be empathetic to people who put themselves in questionable predicaments, then only expect positive results. I may be a skeptic, but some things are just obvious. I love the idea of having a happily ever after, but that doesn’t mean you can just defy all logic. Chile, I am SOOOO ready for the 90 Day Fiance The Other Way Tell All! It’s not that I want to say I told you so, but you know I will!!! Sorry, I’m just that petty.
A distraught Jenny Slatten finally leaves India. Deavan Clegg struggles during her traditional Korean wedding ceremony. Evelin is forced to decide if she wants to marry Corey. Tiffany worries about Ronald‘s recovery when she and her son leave South Africa.
It’s been tough watching Deavan Clegg on 90 Day Fiance The Other Way. The 22-year-old single mother got pregnant shortly after meeting Jihoon Lee. They ended up with an instant family and the opportunity to take part in reality TV. While I’m sure they were excited about the other (i.e. the potential Instagram money), the former involves a lot of stress and work.
Fans have watched Deavan and Jihoon struggle with their lack of funds and her move to South Korea. They were supposed to live in their own home, but instead they moved into his parents’ place, where Jihoon has to sleep on the floor. Hopefully, the family of four has moved into their own place by now. Especially since they are about to become a family of five. Life moves fast, huh?
Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance The Other Way teaches us the true power of love. It is so powerful that it will drive people to make some of the stupidest decisions. Each and every person on this cast has thrown caution and their sanity to the wind, just to have an international love story.
