Survivor: Winners At War Episode 10 Recap: There Will Be Blood

Tonight was the episode of Survivor that we needed. It was a “loved ones” visit like the show has never seen, followed by a Tribal Council that when the smoke clears may land in the Top 10 Tribal Councils of all-time. It ended with a “secret scene,” unscripted (not that any of this is scripted, but this was a moment clearly created by the players themselves and not producers), that put an emphatic exclamation point on what was hands-down the best episode of what has been a phenomenal season.

Yes, there was blood on the beach and blood on the ground after a messy, complicated Tribal Council, and we’ll try to dissect and get to the bottom of things coming up.

As I do at the beginning of every recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s episode of Survivor: Winners at War. If you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later! It’s important to add that while we WILL hit on all of the important developments of the episode, this is not a linear “blow-by-blow” recap. It is more of a discussion and reaction of what we just witnessed together.

Survivor: Island Of The Idols Episode 10 Recap: And The Game Continues On

This past week was maybe the most brutal in the history of Survivor. The game has a tendency to spill over into real life from time to time, as everybody always is saying how Survivor represents a microcosm of human society. But after last week’s episode, things didn’t just “spill over,” the whole dam broke wide open. The entire controversy surrounding Dan and his inappropriate “touching” of other players, including Kellee, combined with a perfect storm of misinformation regarding all sides, led to an ugly hour of television for millions that were watching.

As millions more expressed their outrage and anger on social media following last week’s airing, things have snowballed to the point that many refused to watch the show at all moving forward, and even two prominent voices in the Survivor community – People‘s Stephen Fishbach and The Hollywood Reporter‘s Josh Wigler – announced that they would no longer even cover the show (to be clear, Fishbach “retired” his blog the week prior, which is pretty coincidental timing, and Wigler  – who was facing issues outside of the game, mixed with his utter disgust over last week’s episode – announced he was done with Survivor…I personally wish the both of them the best moving forward both personally and professionally).

Worst of all: Complete “radio silence” from the official CBS Survivor and Jeff Probst Twitter accounts. It seems they were just hoping this PR nightmare would die down on its own or possibly blow over, as I think it’s quite obvious at this point that the response to last week’s episode was not at all how CBS, Probst and the other producers had expected it to be.

We’ll get to all of the controversy, but with tonight’s newest episode, the game continued on, for better or worse. As I do at the beginning of every recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s episode of Survivor: Island of the Idols. If you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later! Survivor: Edge of Extinction Episode 10 Recap: Out With the Old…

On the heels of one of the most memorable Tribal Councils in history last week, Survivor served up a double-dose of exits tonight as we saw not one, but two players head to the Edge of Extinction. And they weren’t just any two players.

Exclusive Interviews: Survivor: David vs. Goliath’s Alec Merlino and Carl Boudreaux

It was a double-dose of Survivor this week. That means not one but two players were sent to jury. Alec’s exit was fairly straight-forward. In contrast, Carl became the first blindsided member of the beloved David alliance. This set the stage for the rest of the season (just two episodes left before the two-hour Finale on Dec. 19th!).

Survivor: David vs. Goliath Episodes 10 and 11 Recap: Drunk With Power, And Other Things

Well, it couldn’t last forever. Now don’t get me wrong, Survivor: David vs. Goliath continues to be one of the best seasons in several years by all measures. Of course, the show had to come down a bit at some point following what had truly been two back-to-back “Hall of Fame”-worthy Tribal Councils. Tonight’s double-episode extravaganza was solid, but not legendary. It was entertaining, but not all that exciting. But it’s impossible to match what we’ve been given the past two weeks. I urge you – implore you – to go get one of your non-Survivor-watching friends right now, and get them to start binging this season. Because, oh man, this season is still red-hot and far from over. Friends don’t let friends not watch Survivor, right?

As I do at the beginning of every recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s Episode 10 and 11 of Survivor: David vs. Goliath. If you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later! It’s important to add that while we WILL hit on all of the important developments of the episode, this is not a linear “blow-by-blow” recap. It is more of a discussion and reaction of what we just witnessed together.

Exclusive – Survivor: Ghost Island’s Desi Afuye: ‘My True Plan Was To Get The Guys Out’

It was no surprise to learn that the majority Naviti alliance was going to turn on one another, it was more a question of when. Well, we received an answer to that question this week on Survivor, when Desi Afuye took the first shot at trying to dethrone those currently in power.

Survivor: Ghost Island Episode 10 Recap: The Perfect Crime

Post-merge Survivor is always exciting because the closer the players get to the end, the more they realize their position in the game. This usually leads to those who are on the bottom trying to make big moves to shake things up, and for those in control to try to desperately maintain their foothold. What this means for viewers is we get more exciting episodes like we did tonight, where we finally saw the majority Naviti alliance crumble under its own weight, while those on the bottom gained a little more power.

But before we dive in, as I do at the beginning of every Recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s Episode 10 of Survivor: Ghost Island, so if you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later! It’s important to add too that while we WILL hit on all of the important developments of the episode, this is not a linear “blow-by-blow” recap, and is more of a discussion and reaction of what we just witnessed together.
