Survivor: Winners At War Episode 9 Recap: A 50/50 Chance

Somebody famous once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” On tonight’s wild episode of Survivor: Winners At War, several players took some big shots, risking their games in the process, because really, why not? You win, or you lose, right? In the end, it really is that black-and-white. Sometimes, it just comes down to the flip of a coin.

As I do at the beginning of every recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s episode of Survivor: Winners at War. If you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later! It’s important to add that while we WILL hit on all of the important developments of the episode, this is not a linear “blow-by-blow” recap. It is more of a discussion and reaction of what we just witnessed together.

Survivor: Island of the Idols Episode 7 and 8 Recap: Much, Much More Than A Vote

Well wow. What an incredible, emotional and – a word I don’t use lightly – important two-hours of Reality TV, the likes of which only a show such as Survivor can manage. Those that watch the show religiously know that the merge episode is consistently one of the best, most explosive hours of each season, and it was again…but not nearly in the way it normally is. As it has over the years – and as it has more than a few times already this season – Survivor became about much more than the game tonight, a microcosm of real-life issues that we as a society are confronting and will continue to confront into the future.

Such complexities are simply not found on other TV programs. And a two-hour episode of Survivor couldn’t have come at a better time, as the additional time was appropriately used to make sure that they didn’t rush or brush over these systemic problems that face us all.

As I do at the beginning of every recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s episode of Survivor: Island of the Idols. If you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later! Survivor: Edge of Extinction Episode 9 Recap: One For The Ages

Seriously, people, Survivor is firing on all cylinders right now. It would be a crying shame if there were folks out there that gave up on this season. Because think what you will about the actual Edge of Extinction twist: The game-play – specifically post-merge – has bordered on stellar. Tonight’s Tribal was one for the ages, and with the straightest-face imaginable I tell you this: It’s already included as one of the Top 5 best, most memorable Tribal Councils of all-time.

Survivor: David vs. Goliath Episodes 10 and 11 Recap: Drunk With Power, And Other Things

Well, it couldn’t last forever. Now don’t get me wrong, Survivor: David vs. Goliath continues to be one of the best seasons in several years by all measures. Of course, the show had to come down a bit at some point following what had truly been two back-to-back “Hall of Fame”-worthy Tribal Councils. Tonight’s double-episode extravaganza was solid, but not legendary. It was entertaining, but not all that exciting. But it’s impossible to match what we’ve been given the past two weeks. I urge you – implore you – to go get one of your non-Survivor-watching friends right now, and get them to start binging this season. Because, oh man, this season is still red-hot and far from over. Friends don’t let friends not watch Survivor, right?

As I do at the beginning of every recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s Episode 10 and 11 of Survivor: David vs. Goliath. Exclusive Interview: Survivor: David vs. Goliath’s Dan:

As we all still manage to digest the turkey, pumpkin pie and leftovers from this past week, we’re also trying to digest the crazy-epic blindside we witnessed on Thanksgiving Eve. Of course, I’m talking about last Wednesday’s episode of Survivor: David vs. Goliath. This season, by all accounts, has been amazing. It begs many of us to ask the question the non-Survivor-watchers. What the heck are you doing if not watching Survivor this season? Do you not like great television? Or in the words of Russell Crowe: Are you not entertained???

It was a Thanksgiving treat that came early, maybe for all but Dan Rengering, the Goliath who seemed to be in the absolute best position…until he wasn’t. It was one for the ages and included a second-straight “Hall of Fame” caliber Tribal Council the likes of which we have – literally – never seen.  And if you missed any of the action? Exclusive – Survivor: Ghost Island’s Libby Vincek: ‘I Knew I Was A Goner’

For those wondering if Libby Vincek will be OK after getting voted off of Survivor: Ghost Island, please rest assured that she’s fine. Billed as a “social media strategist” in the cast release this season, it may come as no surprise to you that Libby is also a model, and was not one of the “super-fans” picked for the show this season. She wasn’t available for the normal round of press phone interviews this past week due to being on a modeling shoot in London, but Libby was kind enough to reply to some of my questions via email even while overseas.

Survivor: Ghost Island Episode 9 Recap: Casualties Of War

Sadly, there was no rapping on Survivor this week, but that didn’t mean there weren’t battles to be had. Entering Wednesday’s episode, we were down to just 12 contestants left this season, and at last count I believe roughly 286 hidden Idols…give or take. For the newest member of this season’s Survivor jury, it had to be a frustrating end, since the person just couldn’t quite figure out what was making him/her a target. The larva grubs (or whatever the hell they were) weren’t the only things that were tough to swallow this week.

But before we dive in, as I do at the beginning of every Recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s Episode 9 of Survivor: Ghost Island, so if you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later!
