After months of speaking it into existence, Cynthia Bailey is engaged! Mike Hill popped the question on July 26. And, yes, Real Housewives of Atlanta is filming Season 12 right now. Of course, this was caught on film.
Aside from that, Mike had some professional photographers on hand to document the moment and a rep for the couple sent some pictures our way!
People have high hopes for Real Housewives of Atlanta, Season 12 is off and running. Most of us are still recovering from the trauma NeNe Leakes put us through. A certain cameraman is still recovering too. Last year, we saw Eva Marcille level up to peach holder, and she definitely wasn’t boring. Fans watched her get married and drop a verbal house on Marlo Hampton in Tokyo. There was also some scandal about her financial state, but most of these ladies
can’t pay their taxes have been down that road.
Eva is currently cooking her third child. This is great news for her
storyline family, as cameras are rolling while she prepares to welcome her new addition. Another new addition is Kenya Moore. She’s back and ready to party. Word on the street is, Eva is none too thrilled with Ms. Kenya. Is there drama looming oh you bet it is on the horizon for Eva? Kenya just might be the one new addition the pregnant Housewife could do without.
Months later, it’s still hard to get over how epic Andy Cohen’s baby shower was. Imagine all of those Real Housewives on a moving float. Plus cast members from Vanderpump Rules, Southern Charm, Below Deck, and Shahs of Sunset. That was the Bravo float for the Pride celebration in New York City this past weekend.
Andy gathered the most enthusiastic group of Bravolebrities. They dressed up in festive rainbow outfits. They danced, sang, and they had a few cocktails, of course.
The new season of Real Housewives of Atlanta is already stirring up the drama. We know
fan favorite Kenya Moore has possibly returned in all of her glory. We know Porsha Williams’ recent break-up with Dennis McKinley will play out. And word on the street was NeNe Leakes, everyone’s favorite ray of sunshine, was being “shut out” of filming. Meaning, she pissed everyone off so much last year, no one will hang out with her.
Amid speculation that NeNe might not return to the show, there were rumors she received a very hefty increase in salary. When production began on Season 12, NeNe was like Dennis’ loyalty, nowhere to be found. But fear not, NeNe made sure to squash those silly rumors when she let everyone know she wasn’t gone, just in the midst of intense contract negotiations. Many viewers hoped this was a sign that NeNe was ultimately let go after her cantankerous attitude did her no favors last year. Well, the mystery has been solved. If you were worried NeNe was going to quietly ride off into the sunset, then worry no more. She’s back.
In addition to being the patriarch, godfather, and ultimate supreme ruler of all things Real Housewives, Andy Cohen is a new dad and the host of Bravo’s late night talk show, Watch What Happens Live. As the first openly gay American late night talk show host, Andy has long been an eloquent and gracious advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.
New York City is currently hosting WorldPride, the world’s largest Pride event, spanning the entire month of June. The Bravo network is known for its support of the LGBTQ+ community. So it is no surprise that Bravo and Andy have a float in the parade this year.
Tanya Sam was a new addition to Real Housewives of Atlanta in Season 11. She appeared as a Friend of the Housewives. Initially, Tanya was brought on as NeNe Leakes’ friend. Oh, how that changed during the season!
NeNe became angry when she thought that Tanya dissed NeNe’s store, Swagg Boutique, during the Housewives talent show in Florida. NeNe later said that Tanya was obsessed with labels. (Hello–have you met your fellow Housewives? And looked in a mirror lately, NeNe?) In Tokyo, the ladies each got a fortune at a temple. NeNe said that Tanya’s fortune meant that she might not marry her fiancé, Paul Judge. NeNe blew up (as she typically does) when Tanya was upset over the way that NeNe shaded her relationship. Later, Bravo officially changed Tanya to Eva Marcille’s friend. Well played, Bravo. Well played.
It looks likes the ladies of Real Housewives of Atlanta know how to keep the drama, and the paychecks, flowing. Season 11 of the show got off to a very slow start, but in the end, the season delivered. Eva Marcille finally tied the knot. NeNe Leakes dealt with her husband Gregg Leakes’ battle with colon cancer and with marital strife. Thankfully, he is cancer-free now. Cynthia Bailey found love again with Mike Hill. Newbie Shamari DeVoe was accused of having a drinking problem by Marlo Hampton. Porsha Williams fell in love with Dennis McKinley, got engaged, and gave birth to daughter Pilar (and a baby spin-off special!)
In a shocking turn of events, NeNe destroyed her longtime friendship with Cynthia because Cynthia did not advise NeNe that former RHOA star Kenya Moore might be at Cynthia’s party. NeNe, never one to be shy, referred to a glowing and pregnant Kenya as a “monster.” As for Cynthia, she looked shady about whether she knew Kenya was going to be at the party.
When storylines or cast members from our favorite shows become redundant and played out, we often call for new people to join the group. Such is the case for Real Housewives of Atlanta. I mean, how many times have we seen NeNe Leakes mad at someone or Kandi Burrus promoting one of her new business ventures? The same folks engaging in the same arguments year after year can wear on our nerves, or GASP, lower the ratings.
One might believe it would be easy to bring new ladies on and incorporate them into an existing reality television show. The programs are, after all, incredibly popular. But it might be more difficult than we think. With repeated drunken arguments and women attempting to see what levels of petty can be reached, some of the more “famous” candidates for shows do not want to participate. Eva Marcille transitioned from successful model to Housewife, but it has come with a personal price tag. While Atlanta is a hot bed of talent and high-level music industry people, they aren’t exactly clamoring to be a part of the overall messiness. Reputations are tainted and friendships are ended. If you already have a “name”, chances are good you have better things to do than argue for six months out of a year.
