Katie Flood Below Deck Mediterranean

Anyone watching the new season of Below Deck Mediterranean knows that a boat romance is on the horizon.  Take that from experience watching the Below Deck franchise, and the powers of hiring a certain mix of attractive people and its inevitable that crew members will be hooking up.  It’s just a matter of who, when, and whether it will be a hookup or something more.

Boat romances are just messy, season after season.  Gary King and Sydney Zaruba didn’t wait past the first episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2.  This rather unfortunate decision prevented Gary from getting the girl he really wanted in the end.  Of course, Alli Dore moved on to greener pastures and is happily awaiting the birth of her first child with boyfriend.  Jessica More and Robert Westergaard got in over their heads with emotions, but there was nothing to keep them together in the end.  Even after a dream vacation in Bali together.  Former chief stew Hannah Ferrier and Bosun Conrad Empson bonded over cigarettes and a mutual distaste for Captain Sandy Yawn before things went sour over an argument about fifty euros.  This small sample of broken hearts is, of course, one reason we keep watching.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Captain Glenn Shephard

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 was a doozy. There was a budding romance between Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux and Dani Soares that lead to a surprise pregnancy, and a whole lot of drama. Gary King found himself in the middle of a love triangle with Alli Dore and Sydney Zaruba, even though he had a girlfriend since he first boarded Parsifal III. There were boat crashes, horrible guests, and more, so it was a textbook example of what makes for a great season of reality TV.

The Below Deck reunion was just as explosive. Alli and Sydney finally went head-to-head over their Gary issues. Even though Alli revealed she’s also a mom-to-be, and thankfully, Gary is not the father. Dani and the crew didn’t hold back on bashing J.L., even though he tried to defend himself in a solo appearance. But one subtle bomb was dropped that went over many viewers’ heads during the reunion, and it involves a suspected (and unexpected) rumored romance for Captain Glenn.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Dani Soares Says She Would Never Prevent Her Child From Seeing Her Father

Oh baby — the most recent season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht has been a doozy. And really, there’s a lot of babies in the mix. What was in the Croatian waters last summer? Alli Dore just announced she’s expecting a baby, but thankfully Gary King is not the father. She’s got a new man in her life and Gary is probably kicking himself for the way he acted. At least Sydney Zaruba won’t have to worry about Alli and Gary in the future. That is, if she still has a shot.

Arguably the biggest drama going on, even bigger than the Parsafail III crashing into the dock, is surrounding Dani Soares and Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux. Dani recently gave birth to a baby girl, but has kept the father’s identity under wraps. But if you do a little math, it’s not hard to see that the baby could belong to J.L.

In the meantime, he’s been getting slammed on Instagram by his former crew for his treatment of Dani. And making himself look like a damn mess by posting about paternity tests on social media. Looks like working hard wasn’t the only thing J.L. couldn’t get a hang of — he seems to have no common sense.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 Reunion Part 2 Recap: JL, You…Are The Father?

Part 1 of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion aired last night. And in the quickest turnaround in Bravo history, we got Part 2 just one day later — in lieu of a new Real Housewives of New York City. And after watching an hour of arguing over pita, this is the episode we’ve all been waiting for. Will questions finally be answered? Will the mystery of Dani Soares‘ surprise pregnancy finally be solved? Is Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux the father? Let’s find out!

But first, we have to endure more relationship drama from Parisfal’s resident throuple. At the end of Part 1, Gary King claimed Alli Dore didn’t have feelings for him, just like he didn’t have feelings for Sydney Zaruba. Huh? Apparently, the math of love triangles is too far out of the first officer’s academic depth. Alli fires back that of course this isn’t true. If she didn’t have feelings for him, she never would’ve dated him on the boat. Furthermore, the third stew also points out that she seemed to be the only one taking anyone else’s feelings into account in this whole mess. Or, like, what’s right and what’s wrong. Then she drops a bombshell: Gary actually had a girlfriend when he hooked up with Sydney on the first night.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 Reunion Part 1 Recap: Let’s Throw a Pita Party

Are you ready for the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 reunion? Because ready or not, it’s happening. The real question I asked myself as I sat down to enjoy Part 1 was, “Did this season really justify a reunion? Let alone two parts?” Frankly, I’m not sure the answer is yes. Sure, there are a number of unanswered questions, mostly revolving around a certain mystery pregnancy. But do we really need to rehash the number of pitas Natasha De Bourg made for breakfast or the love triangle that will just never end? Apparently, the answer is yes. So here we go. Get ready to count the pitas…

We’ve weathered a full year of virtual reunions on Bravo due to the coronavirus pandemic. And while other shows are now getting socially-distanced, in-person sit downs with Andy Cohen, all the Below Deck franchises are still reuniting virtually. Several fans seemed to complain about this fact on Twitter, but honestly, it kind of makes the most sense. At least from a logistical standpoint. The Parsifal crew remains flung across the world, making a physical reunion hosted in New York difficult to organize with global travel not quite back to normal yet.

Below Deck Alli Dore

Ahead of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 reunion, it’s safe to say this season really took it to a new level. There were hookups and steamy hot tub moments galore. There were over-the-top guests that were painfully entitled during their stay. We even saw an instance where Captain Glenn Shephard crashed the boat into the dock. Not even the COVID-19 pandemic could stop the drama coming in at full force all season long.

And in the off-season, things have gotten juicier. Dani Soares gave birth to a baby that may or may not be Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux’s. Not even J.L. knows if he’s the father, even though he’s not doing much to figure it out. The majority of his Below Deck co-stars aren’t having it, slamming for his treatment of Dani. This is coming from a man who told the entire boat he had an STD prior to getting a test. He’s obviously not the sharpest tool in the box.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht

It’s time to hop on the Below Deck Sailing Yacht train, if you haven’t already. Season two of the series just wrapped up, and viewers are eagerly awaiting the reunion episodes to air. There’s going to be a lot of crew dynamics to unpack with this one!

Despite having some light issues with each other, chief stew Daisy Kelliher and chef Natasha De Bourg made their way through this season largely unscathed. Well done ladies! Then there’s the love triangle between Gary KingSydney Zaruba, and Alli Doore. While we saw a slight update on how these three made their way through the boat’s final crossing in the final episode, but we deserve more. Then there’s the cringe-worthy “fairy tale love” between Dani Soares and Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux. We need a follow up on that one ASAP!

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 Finale Recap: An Orgy of Yachties

Well, yachties, this is it. The Season 2 finale of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. We’ve made it through a pandemic. The dreadful Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and his twisted Brady Bunch. One charter cut short by COVID, and another cancelled altogether. A pissing match over pita bread. A broken-down tender. “Ta-tas for Trump.” The least empowering women’s empowerment dinner of all time. A chlamydia scare (that turned out to be just run-of-the-mill chafing). And a messy love triangle that’s still not over. Honestly, what didn’t happen this season? Actually I do have something: it was a rare season where no one got fired.

So, remember last week when I pointed out the potential for the first-ever crossover event in Below Deck history? Yeah…that didn’t happen. Which I also predicted, but it still feels like a missed opportunity. Especially with Season 6 of Below Deck Mediterranean right around the corner. But alas. Instead, we get a completely different crew from the Lady Michelle for the final charter of the season. For reference, that is the boat we’ll be seeing next season on Below Deck Med. So now I’m left wondering about filming schedules and whether the two shows overlapped. Did Sailing Yacht wrapped before Captain Sandy Yawn and co. headed to Croatia? Was it the other way around? I need to know.
