It's nothing but drama with a capital NeNe "D" as NeNe and Gregg Leakes attempt to make it down the aisle yet again on the Bravo wedding spin-offI Dream Of NeNe. Last night's episode focused on mayjah issues with an obstinate wedding planner, but Gregg's jokes made the whole hour bearable. Pass the Lawry's, won't you?
After instigating the fight to end all fights among her bride-maidzillas in Los Angeles, NeNe has brought Diana, Lexis, and Marlo Hampton together back in Atlanta to work through their issues. Above everything else, these ladies need to know that above all, they are supposed to be supporting the Neenster. It's going really well, I tell ya! NeNe is tired of playing referee between Team Neenster Diana and Team Gregg Lexis.
Marlo then compares Diana's looks to that of a security guard, but quickly covers by saying that Diana has been a security guard for NeNe's friendship. Nice save! NeNe feels badly for her old pal, but she can't help but laugh. Marlo forces Diana to hug it out, and here's hoping the bride-maids can be drama free for at least an episode.
If any of y'all are watching I Dream of NeNe (and I don't get the feeling that many of you are), you know that NeNe Leakes' ego takes center stage and is second to not much else. Now, I like the Neenster, but Bravo may have put too many eggs in one basket by making this a season-long series. There's just not that much to it.
So, leave it to NeNe (another potential spin-off title?) to start drumming up the press for the sixth season of Real Housewives of Atlanta. NeNe is a promoter at heart, and she knows who butters her bread. She's no doubt happy to generate some Bravo buzz about the next RHOA go-round, which, by the way, starts a month from today on November 3rd!
Last night NeNe Leakes dealt with "bridesmaid-zillas" (which have previously only been seen on Say Yes To The Dress: Bridesmaids!). Without Randy to steer her in the right direction and keep these maids in line, full-scale mayhem erupted as only could happen on a reality show. Bless you Bravo!
The I Dream Of NeNe star confessed keeping all her ladies controlled and choosing who would be there with her on the big day was a definite challenge!
"It's really hard for me to step in between them because we are all friends," NeNe told OK! Magazine. "If I say something to one, the other one says I’m taking sides. So that was really hard for me."
Of course, NeNe didn't expect any aspect of wedding planning to be easy. But everything from choosing bridesmaids gowns to dealing with wedding planners was a challenge!
Last night'sI Dream of NeNe shifted the drama and cattiness from Gregg Leakes' kids and plops it right on top of NeNe Leakes' bridesmaids. The only constant throughout it all? The Neenster's larger than life ego stays totally intact! Also, if I wanted to make this a drinking game, I'd have you chug your vino every time NeNe talked about her bride-maids. Am I crazy for thinking there should be an "s" in there?
Gregg is running interference with son Damien while NeNe schools her remaining adult step-children. Dr. Jeff is hoping he can help the family move forward, and all of Gregg's kids (sans Damien) seem just plain confused by the situation. Look at NeNe's flowing locks in her interview sessions! Work! Dr. Jeff thinks that the major issue is between Gregg and the kids instead of NeNe and the kids. Oh, Bravo editing…now NeNe's interview session hair is in sort of an Adam Lambert-esque bob.
NeNe is hoping that Gregg's only daughter Katrina will be the voice of reason. She feels that Katrina's feelings get lost among her boisterous brothers. Katrina reveals that she doesn't have much of a relationship with her father because he only responded to her when she asked for money. She wanted a more emotional and supportive role in her dad's life. NeNe bonds with Katrina over her own absent father. Katrina seems to have gotten through to Gregg and he promises to rectify their relationship.
As we gear up for NeNe Leakes' second wedding to Gregg on I Dream of NeNe, the couple has a lot of issues to resolve before they walk back down the aisle. Between prenups and drama with Gregg's grown children, the couple certainly have some work to do with Dr. Jeff. Thankfully, NeNe and Gregg have a strong support group in their wedding party…or do they?
Both the Neenster and Gregg discuss their friends in their respective Bravo blogs, and Gregg expresses his appreciation to his "basement ballers" for standing by him as he works to get his family back together. NeNe writes, "My lunch date with some of my Atlanta Bridesmaids: This was supposed to be a Sex in the City lunch with my girls to celebrate my getting married again. Diana Gowins is a longtime girlfriend of mine with whom I've shared a lot. We have been really close over the years. I love her like a sister! We like to call her the protective one, the security, the gate keeper, and Miss Territorial because Diana always questions when someone new is around. She has an uncomfortable attitude when new people are introduced into our circle."
Last night'sI Dream of NeNe was more therapy, drama, and famous friends ofNeNe Leakes. When it begins, the Neenster is reuniting with the Donald, and I'll be damned. They have the same hairstyle. Trump wants NeNe to judge the Miss USA pageant. After their mutual admiration club, Donald shares with NeNe that he's read that she's getting remarried to her ex-husband. She reveals that her first divorce from Greggwasn't amicable…in fact, it was hostile. Basically, Donald advises NeNe to get Gregg to sign the pre-nup or he's fired. She also tries to get Donald's advice on blending families, but of course, it all boils down to her getting an extra nice wedding gift from the Donald.
Cynthia Bailey's husband Peter Thomas has bonded with Gregg, and Gregg is looking to his new biffle for guidance as to how to blend his family. Luckily for Gregg, Peter has a lot of opinions given the fact he has five children that aren't with his current wife. Peter urges his friend to make sure that everyone gets along.
I know a lot of you thought that NeNe's spinoff premiere was boring, but I enjoyed it, in all of its mellow glory! Maybe I'm just burned out on rehashed drama this week, but I felt it was a nice change of pace. I may be in the minority, but NeNe cracks me up and I'm not ashamed to admit it (and I love her blonde hair, dammit, no matter what y'all say!). And who knew Gregg had so many neurotic little issues?
Also doing well with its debut last night was The New Atlanta, scoring just a hair over 1 million viewers. I tuned in for this one and liked the first half, but was turned off that they leapt right into dinner drama (a favorite formula for Bravo) way too soon! Let us get to know the cast before we're weave pullin' and table flippin', okay?
TELL US – WILL YOU TUNE IN FOR I DREAM OF NENE AND THE NEW ATLANTA NEXT WEEK?
Sorry, Tamra Barney, but Andy Cohen has a favorite housewife! Of course, it's Lisa Vanderpump, but I digress. NeNeLeakes is a close second, and she's remarrying ex-husband Gregg which is a story line made in Bravo heaven. It shouldn't come as a surprise that NeNe's wedding spin-off, I Dream Of NeNe, gets nearly a full season of episodes as opposed to a measly three.
To bring everyone up to speed as to why NeNe is re-marrying Gregg, NeNe must spend the first part of the show explaining why she "divorced his ass." Their fifteen year marriage, split, and rekindled romance is described in less than a minute. NeNe is getting adjusted to being back in Atlanta after an extended period of time in Los Angeles. She finds her original wedding program and dress, and NeNe and Gregg reminisce over their first walk down the aisle with their wedding video.
NeNe shares that forgiving Gregg's past behavior is a lot easier than forgetting it. She assures viewers that she wants everything to be different from the first go-round, and she isn't looking at this as a new wedding, but a new marriage. That's a plus! The couple spends time in Athens on their journey down memory lane, and they meet NeNe's aunt and godmother for lunch. NeNe's godmother reminds Gregg of a talk they had a year ago when he promised he'd get his family back.
