Keeping up with the Kardashains

13th Annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational Day 3

Like confetti on your clothes after a Lady Gaga concert, Bruce Jenner is in every crack and cranny you look in these days. Jenner has been all over news and gossip websites lately in the wake of his Diane Sawyer interview about gender identity, but now the February Malibu car crash Bruce refused to comment on during that interview is bubbling back up to the surface.

Kim Howe, who died in the crash, is survived by two adult stepchildren who are seeking restitution (Kim had no other living relatives). They are jointly filing a wrongful death lawsuit “claiming Bruce was ‘careless and negligent’ when he slammed into Howe’s Lexus on PCH  back in February, causing it to careen into oncoming traffic where it collided head on with a Hummer,” according to TMZ. The crash itself is still being investigated by the LA County Sheriff’s Department who will send their findings to the LA county DA for possible prosecution, but sources say “it’s unlikely prosecutors will file.”

'Bruce Jenner: The Interview' with Diane Sawyer on ABC

Although both sides of Bruce Jenner’s family showed public support (tweets, interviews, soundbites) in the wake of his Diane Sawyer interview last week, things aren’t as hunky-dory as they may seem. (Are they ever!?) In the new issue of US Weekly, an “inside source” reveals, “It’s still Camp Jenner and Camp Kardashian, in a major way.” (On the Kardashian side are Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Rob, Kendall, Kylie, and Kris; on the Jenner side are Burt, Casey, Brandon, and Brody, Bruce’s kids from his marriages to Chrystie Scott and Linda Thompson.) Evidence of this divide may lie in the fact that the two camps have not come together in a joint statement, joint interview, or – US is told – even in a joint viewing of the original interview on TV last Friday. US reports, “In order to keep the peace, Bruce scheduled two separate viewing sessions for the 20/20 interview, one with his Keeping Up With the Kardashians family, and one with Scott and his four eldest kids, who appeared on the ABC special in a show of solidarity with their father.”

Kylie and Kendall Jenner, the youngest of the Jenner children, and the “link” between the Jenner/Kardashian tribes in many ways, are reported to be struggling the most with Bruce’s public revelation. “The whole transition was much harder for the Kardashian kids and Kylie and Kendall,” a source tells PEOPLE. “It was hard to grasp. And there was a lot of lying to the kids over the years on Bruce’s part, even as close as they were. It’s going to take some time for the kids to get used to it all.” But one more clue of the disrupt between the families came in the form of a tweet from Burt Jenner, 36, who wrote, “Having a hard time not putting a few people on blast who were not supporters beforehand, but want to act like they were all along.” Hinting at the tension between the Jenners and Kardashians, one source tells us, “He [Burt] feels they’re [the Kardashians] only supportive now for publicity.” Burt has since deleted the tweet.

Bruce Jenner’s still untitled 8-part docuseries to be aired on E! this July will chronicle his journey transitioning from a male to female. The series will reveal not only how Bruce is handling the transition, but will also include reactions from his family along the way. But it’s not all heavy-handed, serious stuff, says Bruce. He insists there will be plenty of lighthearted, “fun” moments too, like how he’ll have to adapt his golf game when he’s walking around with new breasts. TMZ’s production sources say “Bruce’s golf game will be front and center. Bruce is a great golfer, and apparently it’s not an easy transition to swing with breasts.” The show, intended to educate the public and provide hope for those going through gender transitioning, also seeks to entertain. Sources tell TMZ that “If all you have is a downer, you don’t have a show.” Having been a staple on Keeping Up with the Kardashians for eons now, one would guess Bruce is somewhat of an expert on what makes good reality TV.

Since the show  intends to balance “the dark moments, the lighthearted moments and moments that are just plain hilarious,” it’s anyone’s guess what scenes may be included. We’re promised a glimpse into the cosmetic procedures Bruce will undergo in gender reassignment as well as the social aspects of his life, such as the wine and cheese parties Bruce likes to host with his “girlfriends.” Nothing is cemented in terms of “must haves” yet, but a production source said, “There will be a happy medium. Bruce has a great sense of humor and it will be showcased. But the show will deal with the very serious issues Bruce is committed to showing.”

Bruce Jenner 20/20 Gender Transition Interview With Diane Sawyer

Bruce Jenner’s candid and powerful interview with Diane Sawyer last Friday night provided a lot of insight into just how long he’s been struggling with gender identity, and how much this struggle has affected his kids through the years. Bruce’s eldest kids, Burt, Casey, Brandon, and Brody, his children from his first two marriages to Chrystie Crownover and Linda Thompson, were heavily featured on the interview showing their unwavering support for their dad’s now public journey in transitioning to a woman. In a previously unaired clip, the former Olympic Medalist and Keeping Up with the Kardashians star goes into more detail about his absence as a father in his young kids’ lives during the 1980s: “The big, formative years for them, I was really struggling with these issues,” Bruce, 65, told Sawyer. “I talked to all of the boys about this after the fact, that, yeah, I didn’t do a good job. And I apologized to my kids for that.”

Despite his previous absence from their lives, Bruce’s eldest kids are speaking out now about their renewed hopes for the future.  Daughter Casey, 34, says, “We have a very complex relationship. He’s disappeared out of our lives, especially out of my life. So I’m looking forward to this next chapter.” And son Brandon, 33, told Sawyer, “Us missing, you know, a time of our lives is still probably the hardest thing for us to deal with. We’re trying not to look back. We’re just looking forward.” He added, “In seeing him come out to me, and explain his true self, I was more proud right then to carry the last name Jenner and to be a part of the family than at any time before.” Burt, 36, echoed his siblings’ loving and positive outlook: “The one thing I think that we have gained that means more to us than anything is the honesty.”

Variety’s Power of Women

In the wake of Bruce Jenner’s ground breaking interview with Diane Sawyer, the rest of the Kardashians are scrambling to revamp their images as kind, authentic, rigorously honest people too. Juuuuuuust kidding! In an effort to remain the Queen of All Things Shallow and Vapid, Kim Kardashian shared at Variety’s Power of Women luncheon in New York that her selfie obsession is rubbing off on daughter North West (22 months). And she couldn’t be a prouder mommy. “She [North] has a computer of mine with all of these movies and music on it, and I was just using it, and I noticed the Photo Booth, there were all these selfies of her, that she doesn’t realize she’s taking, but she presses it, and it’s so funny,” says the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star. “So we do take lots of pictures together.”

Adding her wisdom on the “power of the selfie,” Kim explains, “I think it’s really cute when you go and the girls, they ask for a selfie, and they say, ‘Will you post this on your Instagram? It’s so funny to see the power of a selfie… As silly as that may seem, it really makes their day.” Can’t you just picture Kim in a Skeletor pose wielding an iPhone? By the Power of Butt-Naked Instagrams! I have the SELFIE! Erghh.

khloe kardashian blue workout

Like too much Axe Body spray in a middle school boys’ bathroom, the stench of desperation is thick this week as it wafts off of the Kardashian family. Yesterday, we hear Kim Kardashian is “producing” a mental health awareness documentary, #RedFlag. Now today, Khloe Kardashian announces she’s writing an advice book. ‘What advice does she have to offer?’ asks every human being on the earth, in unison. Well, it seems Khloe is going to share her wisdom on topics such as healthy body image and inner beauty. Cause that’s what the Kardashians are known for, ya’ll! Right?

More specifically (sorta), Khloe plans to offer advice on how women can develop “strength and true beauty” in a “culture that worships skinny,” Khloe’s publisher, Regan Arts, says. Khloe comments, “I am so excited about sharing my philosophy on how I live and the power of strength. I hope to be an inspiration to readers everywhere on how they can create their own true strength and beauty inside and out.” The currently untitled advice book will hit shelves November 3 of this year. Just in time to fill those Christmas stockings! The book launch itself, occurring on May 31 at BookCon, will of course be filmed on this season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in Paris

Kim Kardashian is the undisputed(?) queen of social media, naked selfies, and spinning-sextapes-into-goldmines, but now she’s using her power – and her bazillions of social media followers – to bring a little positive change into the world. (Did I wake up in an alternate reality?) According to Fish Wrapper, “Kim’s teamed up with Dr. Drew Pinsky for a documentary called ‘#RedFlag,’ which highlights the correlation between depression and social media today.”

Kim will serve as executive producer on the new show and says, “I am blessed to be surrounded by family and friends that are loving and nurturing, but not everyone has that kind of support. Twenty-five percent of adults in America will suffer from a mental illness in their lifetime, and many of them turn to social media to vent their depression, loneliness and isolation.”

kris jenner

Momager Kris Jenner, who’s got her finger on the “SEND” button of every single headline pumped out of the Kardashian empire is now claiming complete ignorance when it comes to some pretty big insights into her ex-husband, Bruce Jenner, over the course of their 20+ year marriage.

TMZ reports: “Kris Jenner was in the dark about Bruce’s desire to become a woman during their entire marriage according to sources directly and closely connected to Kris.” These sources also add that “Kris insists the subject never came up again during their entire marriage. She also says she never saw Bruce dressed as a woman during their entire relationship.”
