Braunwyn Windham-Burke Real Housewives of Orange County

Season 15 of Real Housewives of Orange County started off with Braunwyn Windham-Burke revealing that she was an alcoholic. And the mom of seven kids dealt with a lot of other issues, too.

In December, Braunwyn announced that she is a lesbian. The RHOC star’s husband, Sean Burke, supported her completely. Braunwyn and Sean tried all season to hammer out the details of their “modern marriage.”

Emily Simpson Agrees With Elizabeth Lyn Vargas and Kelly Dodd That Braunwyn Windham-Burke Lives For Social Media Likes And Comments

The finale of Real Housewives of Orange County was last week. It was…odd. On the whole, the season was good in that the women opened up their actual lives on camera. Emily Simpson showed us the anxieties of having a loved one in the hospital with COVID. Gina Kirschenheiter showed us the aftermath of domestic violence and divorce. Kelly Dodd was an all-out idiot and Shannon Beador was exhausting (some things don’t change). Elizabeth Lyn Vargas brought nothing to the table (not even Vince Neil) until she revealed she was raised in a religious cult. And Braunwyn Windham-Burke broke her back carrying the season with the chaos that is her life.

There was no attempt made in the finale to depict these women as actual friends outside the show. The season ended abruptly on the beach with the fakest toast ever seen on a Housewives series. It was super apparent that these women are united only in their mutual disdain for Braunwyn. There is no need to reiterate that she is going through major life changes. Whether it’s all true or for camera time doesn’t even bother me because she’s imploding her own life, not her fellow cast members’. Regardless, her cast mates think everything she’s doing is for likes and camera time. But I think in one case they’re deflecting from their own ignorance.

Y’all we did it. We made it through this season of Real Housewives of Orange County. This season included the co-pandemics of the Coronavirus and the country’s glaring issues of racial inequities. Being filmed during the beginnings of the pandemic shutdowns made this season much different from anything we’ve seen on Bravo before. For instance, it was also our first season without icky Vicki Gunvalson. The cast shake up and current events somehow shifted the focus all the way left to Braunwyn Windham-Burke.

The reunion trailer featured Braunwyn taking a beating from the other women. Not to mention they’ve all been trashing her since the season ended. Above all, it’s pretty obvious she is on the major outs with the cast.

Braunwyn Windham-Burke

As the latest season of Real Housewives of Orange County wrapped, it’s hard to name a bigger turn around than cast member Braunwyn Windham-Burke. She ended last season with what we thought was a hot and heavy marriage. She even had a vow renewal this season. All seemed….good?

But cracks quickly started to show. And some of the bombs she has dropped this season were pretty unexpected, even for the unconventional housewife. She admitted she was an alcoholic and spent the season not only battling it, but defending it to the likes of Gina Kirschenheiter and Kelly Dodd. She also admitted to some pretty heavy stuff within her seemingly perfect marriage. Those things included slapping husband, Sean Burke and just an overall vibe of her not being into him. Cut to her in the last episode coming out as a lesbian. While reports indicated she wanted to stay married, Braunwyn is busy having a full on relationship with her 29-year old girlfriend, Kris.

Real Housewives Of Orange County

All good things must come to an end, and then there’s this season of Real Housewives of Orange County. Because of the Rona, we didn’t have as many episodes produced, so that was a tiny gift to viewers. I doubt anyone will dispute it was Braunwyn Windham-Burke’s season. Not so much because she is a compelling individual, she just pulled every card in the Bravo playbook and laid them all down.

Elizabeth Lyn Vargas was supposed to be a breath of fresh air, but, was she? Elizabeth may or may not be hiding stuff about her marriage, divorce, and relationship with that dude she definitely isn’t banging. Shannon Beador’s new man was supposed to soften her attitude. Unfortunately, that ‘tude is sharper than ever and those edges are jagged – and for Christ’s sake, she asked for EGG WHITES. Our favorite scientist Kelly Dodd’s job might be on the line, because her mouth is it’s own entity. RHOC is finally over and the reunion is coming. Let’s see what we’re in for.

Real Housewives

Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson has been watching the show she is no longer on, and has some opinions. Let’s be clear, one of the ladies could have landed on the moon or cured leprosy and Vicki would still be out here trashing the season in some capacity. Bless her heart, all she can do is comment since she was #firedbybravo.

Vicki was never particularly fond of Braunwyn Windham-Burke, which is fair. But Vicki’s history with cancer scamming leaves her little leeway to pass judgement on others. Are any of these ladies really in the position to call someone out? So let the hypocrisy parade begin! Recently, Elizabeth Lyn Vargas decided to examine Braunwyn and her unconventional marriage on social media. Naturally Vicki saw this as a moment to be relevant and decided to shoot her shot.

If modern-day society has any hope of redeeming itself, we need to get back to basics. We could stop enabling poor behavior, but that’s a Bravo staple. This season on Real Housewives of Orange County, viewers were treated to quite a few examples of how not to act as a human being. That said, it’s what we have sadly come to expect from an ensemble cast that relies heavily on alcohol and warped opinions to provide watchable subject matter.

No one is watching Real Housewives for etiquette lessons. For most it’s a fun, snarky escape from daily lives. But sometimes the episodes are filled with more darkness than shade. That pretty much sums up the entirety of RHOC’s 15th season. Braunwyn Windham-Burke took viewers on a JOURNEY. Not just one journey, it was like 20 different journeys at once. As a result, Braunwyn believes she received a bad edit – and Kelly Dodd is not letting her get away with it.

Shannon Beador Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Hmm. For the penultimate episode of the season, this week’s Real Housewives of Orange County sure felt strange. And honestly, I have to admit it feels quite odd to be recapping tonight given the chaos that’s happened in Washington D.C. today. Over the last 15 years, the Housewives franchise has often provided a much-needed dose of escapism from the horrors and headlines of real life. Tonight in the O.C., however, provided no such relief from the reality of a mob storming the Capitol in an attempt to overthrow the democratic process. But alas, here we are. And the recapping must go on…

I think my biggest issue with this episode of Real Housewives of Orange County is that it really just boiled down to a series of one-on-one conversations. Because of coronavirus restrictions, the women haven’t been able to congregate together since the trip to Lake Arrowhead. And really, they haven’t all been together since before the pandemic shut down production. Right? Since the cast trip to Palm Springs? So basically they’re left to talk in pairs, or film with their kids, siblings and significant others. None of which is particularly interesting on its own without a main storyline driving the narrative.
