Ramona Singer is trying to be supportive of Luann de Lesseps‘ sobriety in the only way she knows how: by questioning it to the press and asserting her own opinions about how Luann should handle recovery. Of course, given how well Luann’s sobriety went after her first stint in rehab, maybe Ramona has a point?
The Real Housewives Of New York star recently revealed that prior to re-entering treatment this July she relapsed with watermelon martinis, 2 whole bottles of rose, followed by a six-pack of beer. By. Her.Self. Luann reveals that being sued by her ex and children over her desire to move upstate for “a fresh start” promulgated her fall off the wagon. “I felt betrayed,” she told Megyn Kelly in an interview. “I had my heart set on that house. … I was devastated, and so I lost it.”
Despite celebrating six months of sobriety earlier this month, Luann de Lesseps has decided to check back into rehab.
Friends and sources say that the lawsuit from her ex-husband and children over a violation of her divorce agreement pushed Luann over the edge. Luann will also miss the Real Housewives Of New York reunion filming to remain in treatment. Priorities, from a housewife? Now I really am shocked!
Elegance is learned, my friend. Obviously, no one is a bigger proponent of this sentiment than Real Housewives of New York’s Luann de Lesseps. The Countess has had quite a lot going on after a drunken arrest and subsequent rehab stint, but she’s also trying to rebuild her life…and her image. Luann has expressed an interest in following in co-star Sonja Morgan’s footsteps with her own cabaret show, and we are all better for this desire.
While we all aren’t lucky enough to be front and center at one of Lu’s slap and tickle performances (slap yourself on the back because you’re laughing at her wittiness while she’s tickling her throat with that deep baritone of hers–get your mind out of the gutter, people!), the San Francisco Pride Parade was graced with the Countess on Sunday.
It was a close one for the former Countess! After she was arrested in Palm Beach over Christmas and charged with drunkenly assaulting an officer, Luann de Lesseps was on the hook for FOUR felonies (and one totally embarrassing arrest video), but upon accepting a guilty plea her charges will convert to misdemeanors.
Initially, the Real Housewives Of New York star was charged with violently resisting arrest, disorderly intoxication, and battery on a law enforcement officer – all felonies which would carry mandatory jail time, however after pleading down Luann will likely get off with probation and a fine. How do you say “Whew!” ala Francaise?
Luann de Lesseps has never shied away from life. Now is no exception. On this season of Real Housewives Of New York, with her life in turmoil and her most embarrassing moment very on display, she’s making some much-needed realizations. “This is my season for change,” declares the former Countess, sitting in her Penthouse on the precipice of rebuilding her life post-divorce, drinking, and jail.
Luann is also joining the Me Too movement, alleging that music mogul Russell Simmons (also the ex of former Real Housewives Of Potomac star Katie Rost) groped her three years ago in Miami. “He grabbed my ass in an elevator, he was just a pig. I haven’t told anybody about that before. I was grossed out. I was like ‘How dare you.’ He invaded me, he took advantage of me, being who he is, thinking he is all ‘it,’ all everything. He thought he could just do that. I looked at him and said, ‘Don’t ever do that again.’”
Having class with the countess means admitting when you’re down for the count – in this case it means Luann de Lesseps checking into rehab following an arrest for drunken and disorderly conduct.
A few months sober, the Real Housewives Of New York star can’t believe how much better her life has become since seeking help. “At this point in my life, I don’t want to drink, nor do I have interest in drinking,” Luann reveals. “Rehab saved my life. It was the best thing that I could do for myself and I’m so glad I did that.”
Luann de Lesseps is a free woman once more! OK, well, kinda. She’s home from rehab at least. After getting arrested in December for drunken and disorderly behavior, Luann checked herself into a 21-day treatment program for alcohol.
Luann celebrated her first day home on social media updating the masses on her progress and expressing her gratitude. “It’s good to be home. I’m doing great. Spending time with friends and family. Thanking everyone for your continued good wishes and support,” she tweeted.
