Nene Leakes Discusses Her Role On Glee, The RHOBH & Says She’s “Not Done” With Gregg!

In her first interview since snagging a role on FOX hit show Glee, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes is dishing on quite a bit!

In the interview with The Insider, Nene, age 44, opens up about her acting role, her relationship status (hint – hubby Gregg Leakes is still in the picture) and reveals her thoughts on possibly joining the cast of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!

Below are excerpts from Nene’s interview with the Necole Bitchie blog –

On Her New Role On ‘Glee’

I’m on ‘Glee’ and I play a character called Roz Washington. She’s the synchronized swim coach and she’s nemesis to Sue Sylvester, who is Jane. She’s very strong willed; she’s very straight forward; she’s not afraid of Sue Sylvester and she’s there to take somebody’s job.

On Her Acting Career –

A lot of people don’t know that we did a show “Before They Were Housewives” and I would come to Los Angeles for pilot seasons every year. One year I bumped into Robi Reed-Humes, who did a lot of casting for Spike Lee at the time, she got really known from doing that. She was casting a film with Cuba Gooding Jr. called “Fighting Temptations” and she cast me in that film and I was able to get my sag card that way. Then I had a small part in “The Parkers” & “Girlfriends.”

Then it kind of phased out for me. I wasn’t getting any auditions anymore and I really wasn’t coming out here to try. Then I met the producers of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” so I’m saying all that to say I was into acting long before I became a reality star. I would absolutely love to continue to act. Whether or not I leave reality TV, I don’t know. I can say this negativity pulls your energy down.

On Possibly Moving Over To The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills –

[Laughs] Stop it. I don’t know if I would transition and work with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. They’ve never done that before [but] that would be interesting if Bravo pulled that off. Right now, I think they like me in Atlanta. I would give them a run for their money.

On Who She’s Dating –

Myself. You know I will never have a public relationship again I don’t think. That’s one of the regrets I have; is putting my personal relationship out there. Greg and I aren’t totally done. Who knows what the future holds. I don’t know about putting my relationship out there but do I have secret admirers, of course.

Nene also spoke about her business ventures stating that in addition to the Sacramento airport restaurant she just opened called “Famous Famiglia”, she plans to open other restaurants. At the moment she’s working on a wine line called Miss Moscato and hopes “to do clothes, shoes, lashes… make-up and perfume.”

Not surprised to hear Nene admit she is still involved with Gregg. It has been widely reported that the two were never separated and that the whole storyline of The Nene dating business man John Kolaj was all manufactured for the RHOA. In fact, Nene and Gregg were photographed last year during filming, looking pretty cozy and trying to hide from the cameras.

PHOTOS – NeNe Leakes & Husband Gregg Get Cozy! Is Divorce A Publicity Stunt?

One can be assured that wherever NeNe Leakes goes drama is sure to follow. The drama in this case is the possibility that her divorce may be a publicity stunt story line created for the Real Housewives of Atlanta!

If you recall, in a recent interview, NeNe promised that the upcoming season of RHoA will finally reveal what led her to file for divorce from husband Gregg Leakes.

A week after that radio interview, the StraightFromTheA blog published photos of NeNe and husband (or possibly soon to be ex-husband) Gregg out on the town at New Orleans nightclub Belvedere Lounge during the 2011 Essence Festival! Although Gregg was hanging out in the corner and made sure NOT to be photographed with NeNe on the red carpet, they were definitely there together – and the photos prove it!

The story also alleges Gregg has been travelling with NeNe to Miami and LA in secret. Not accompanying the Leakes during these outings? Bravo camera crews!

The gossip around town is that NeNe and Gregg will never break up because they have too much dirt on each other (oh, please break up and write a tell-all Gregg!) but have decided to play the game to remain on Housewives.

Former housewife star Lisa Wu Hartwell was reportedly booted from the show because she refused to create fake drama for the series. A report came out back then alleging Bravo “basically wanted to script elements of Lisa’s life and make her amp up the drama. She wasn’t with that at all. Lisa felt like if her real life alone wasn’t enough for the network, then maybe it was time for her to go.” Things that make you wonder.

And finally, following the arrest of her son Bryson Bryant for stealing razors at a Walmart (yes you read that right), Nene visited Los Angeles over the weekend to attend the wedding of R&B singer Monica.

In fact she met up with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards and her husband Mauricio Umansky for dinner. Mauricio posted a photo of the threesome on his twitter page with the caption, “Fun dinner tonight with bi coastal housewives @neneleakes and @KyleRichards18.” Nene tweeted, “Thanks 4 supporting me & takin me out last nite n LA! Thanks 2 u guys, my stomach hurts LOL.” That pic is below!

Nene Leakes Talks Divorce, Leaving RHOA, Slams Star Jones… Again

With the third season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta winding down, Nene Leakes continues to run her mouth speak her mind.

Appearing on the Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday, Nene discussed her “divorce,” her plans to “quit” the RHOA, while also slamming once again her Celebrity Apprentice costar Star Jones.

When it comes to her divorce with Gregg Leakes, Nene told Wendy: “The divorce is pending. I did file for divorce. My happiness is everything.” Perhaps the divorce is really happening this time as Nene also revealed Gregg “actually just moved out.”

Nene was also asked about wanting to leave the RHOA after the current season, during which Wendy brought up Kim Zolciak’s comments stating Nene can’t leave the Bravo hit show because they’re all under contract. NeNe responded, “Contracts can be broken.”

And finally, when it comes to her upcoming appearance on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice, NeNe denied rumors that stated she was acting like a diva on the set. “Everybody has to be there at a certain time so that’s not possible,” Nene quipped.

When asked about her relationship with fellow Apprentice star Star Jones, Nene did not mince her words! “I’m not feeling Star Jones. I gave her a chance when she got there, but Star is a trip. She’s very special. I wouldn’t spit on Star if she was on fire,” said Nene.

Star’s response? A twitter follower asked her what she thinks of NeNe, Star replied, “I don’t.” Star also made the following tweets within the past 24 hours –

“Lesson learned long ago: “Never get into a PIG fight…because 3 things happen: You get tired, you get dirty and only the pig has fun!”

“Ignorance in pretty clothes and high heeled shoes is still ignorance…“There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.””

Nene Leakes Denies Pregnancy Rumors, Gregg Leakes Speaks Out On Marriage!

Nene Leakes is coming out swinging after a report by the MediaTakeOut website reported her as being pregnant.

Not only did the site state the Real Housewives of Atlanta star was pregnant, but it also stated Nene was uncertain of who the father of her unborn child was. “”NeNe suspects that it’s her husband’s child, but she’s been with that man [NFL BALLER CHALES GRANT] too,” claimed the report.

Well Nene, 42, took to her twitter page to set the record straight. “PREGNANT? I’ve said it b4 & I’ll say it AGAIN…I WON’T B HAVIN A CHILD WIT NO MAN! SHOP IS CLOSED! WRONG HOUSEWIFE,” tweeted Nene before adding, “Did they say Charles? They love saying his name! Problem is we never had sex! For 14 years it’s been all about Greg Leakes!”

The story is even more scandalous due to the fact that several media outlets including Radar Online have confirmed Nene’s 20-year-old son Bryson Bryant is expecting a baby with his girlfriend.

NFL player Charles Grant, who has been leaked to Nene for the past year, also called into an Atlanta radio station and stated the following –

“It’s not true. I don’t know the young lady in that fashion. All I know is that she does a show that’s very popular. For the last year-and-a-half, two years, I’ve wondered why my name has been coming up with this young lady every time something happens, but if you really know me, you know it ain’t that type of party.I don’t know nothing about the lady besides her name and seeing her out and about a couple of times. We don’t even know each other like that.”

And finally, Nene’s husband Gregg Leakes made an appearance on Atlanta station 92Q to talk about his relationship with her. “It’s a TV show, it’s designed for ratings. Unfortunately, in our case, my wife and I are going through a storm. We elected to tell people we are going through a real storm… None of that is made up, it’s real,” said Gregg about their marital problems.

“I don’t know where our situation will go but I am confident that we both know how to be good parents. I am confident that we will always remain friends. I don’t know where we’ll end up. We’re good. We’re okay with it,” said Gregg on the future of his marriage.  The full interview is below –

Atlanta Housewife NeNe Leakes Talks Divorce, DWTS, & Fall Out With Kim

While her supposed “divorce” from husband Gregg Leakes remains up in the air, Nene Leakes seems more than content with milking the story for all it’s worth.

And why not? After all, Bravo has spent a good portion of the Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s third season focusing on her “divorce” storyline. In a new interview with Access Hollywood, Nene, 42, touches on the divorce drama and had some choice words for her co-star/frenemy Kim Zolciak.

When asked about her current status with Gregg, Nene shared, “Obviously it’s hard, I’ve been with Greg for 14 years. So, its hard, he’s my friend, we have a family, we have a son.”

But don’t you dare think for one second that this marriage might actually have a fighting chance as Nene makes it very clear it could come crashing down at any second. “We’re legally married. We’re in the same home. We’re legally married and that can mean whatever you want it to mean,” she continued. “We’re legally married today, it does not mean I’m [going to be] legally married next week or next month.”

When it came to her costar Kim, Nene didn’t mince her words. “I’m done with Kim. I never have to see her again,” she snapped. “It really doesn’t matter, I’m totally done with Kim, like done.”

Perhaps Nene’s words might have to do with Kim’s comments in her latest Bravo blog. An excerpt is below –

“The next day I called NeNe over to my house for some wine and girl talk. NeNe always keeps me laughing, but it made me furious to hear that, “The jury is still out” as to how my girls will end up when they’re older. Hasn’t her son been to prison? Sorry, Boo, but the JURY HAS SPOKEN! My girls will be fine. “

Moving right along. Nene also appeared on Lopez Tonight during which she revealed she would love to appear on Dancing With The Stars. “Absolutely. They need a black girl like me. They really do,” Nene said. “They need a black girl like me to keep it real on the show.” Nene will be appearing on the next season of Celebrity Apprentice, currently slated to air in March.

Atlanta Housewife Nene Leakes: Gregg and I “Are Still Together”

Following the last episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, many fans of the show have been wondering about the marital status of Nene Leakes.

On the episode which was filmed months ago, Nene was shown visiting a divorce attorney and threatening to file for divorce from her husband of 13 years, Gregg Leakes. However, as written in our recent recap, there have been zero reports of a divorce filing in the press. So did she really file? Is she still with Gregg? Well, Nene answers all those questions in an exclusive interview with Essence.com.

Excerpts are below –

ESSENCE.com: There’s been so much scrutiny on your marriage lately. What has that been like?

LEAKES: I was having a really rough time because I wanted to speak out on that and I wanted people to understand that Gregg didn’t take me out of a strip club, let’s be very clear about that. We got together when he didn’t have a thing so I don’t know who the heck these people are out here saying this stuff because when we got together I was the breadwinner. I started a business and I brought Gregg on board and we became a couple later. And when we were able to live a comfortable life, it wasn’t because of what Gregg had done, it was because of what we had done together.

ESSENCE.com: When did you see the divorce lawyer?

LEAKES: You guys saw me sitting in the parking lot outside the attorney’s office which Bravo played backwards. In real life it didn’t happen that way. I filed months ago, before that audio even came out. When the audio did come out it just reassured me that I was doing the right thing. It bothered me because I had filed, but I was trying to work it out and he and I had just come back from a trip we had taken. Like two days after we came back, the audio came out.

ESSENCE.com: Are you scared of being on your own?

LEAKES: I am scared, but I’m taking baby steps. I’ve been with Gregg since I was 28, and I’m now 42. I thought I was a woman when I got with him, but I’m really a grown woman now. I’ve been with him for some of the best years of my life so it is scary for me to be like, ‘I’m gonna be on my own.’

ESSENCE.com: So are you and Gregg still together?

LEAKES: We are still together. We are in the same house and we are still legally married. But that’s not to say we won’t be unmarried.

ESSENCE.com: How is your relationship? Are you cordial?

LEAKES: We are cordial, and it is very much of an up and down thing. One day is good, the next day is bad. That’s what I’m really tired of. And I’m very aware that the 40s for me, are the new 30s and that I need to be happy because life is very short.

ESSENCE.com: What do you think Gregg is going through right now?

LEAKES: He’s going through a lot because he doesn’t want a divorce. He says he’s very much in love and he wants to stay married.

Must say Nene’s interview doesn’t help quiet the rumors that she might have played up her marital problems at the request of Bravo. Though she does state that she filed for divorce in the interview, nothing about a filing has been reported in the press. Perhaps the press just missed the news. Lisa Wu Hartwell has also claimed that she quit the show because Bravo “basically wanted to script elements of [her] life and make her amp up the drama.”
