Season 13 of Real Housewives of Orange County was boring. But an interesting and unconfirmed rumor emerged that “OG” Vicki Gunvalson, if she wanted to save her full-time Housewife position for the next season, had to deliver a big storyline. She needed to get engaged–on camera. No pressure!
It’s not like Vicki didn’t constantly tell her boyfriend, Steve Lodge, that she wanted him to put a ring on it and make it official. Steve finally did propose to Vicki in April of 2019, and it seemed like Vicki’s RHOC position was guaranteed.
Real Housewives of Orange County star Emily Simpson has had her struggles this season. She squabbled with her bestie, co-star Gina Kirschenheiter. While her husband, Shane Simpson, studied for the California Bar exam, she managed to work full-time and handle caring for their three kids. Shane prepped for the test by living at a hotel with no communication with his wife. And he didn’t pass.
In a confessional that Shane filmed for the show, a producer asked him if he missed his wife while he was at the hotel studying. “This is where the sarcasm comes in. Certainly, I missed her! If I tell you the truth, she’s gonna be pissed, and at the same time, I don’t wanna fib. I don’t really cry myself to sleep because I miss my family,” Shane stated. “I just do what I gotta do. And I know that there’s a time where it’ll be done, and I can come back home and I can be with my family and kids.” Viewers were not thrilled with Shane’s brand of “sarcasm.”
Much of Emily Simpson’s story on this season of Real Housewives of Orange County has centered around her marriage to her
little bitch husband Shane Simpson. While Shane studied to take the California Bar exam, Emily worked, took care of the kids, and kept their household going. After all, Shane was studying at a hotel and had little communication with his family in an effort to pass the test. Spoiler alert–he didn’t pass.
But what did Shane pass on? Shane refused to go to Las Vegas with Emily to celebrate their anniversary. Emily even arranged to dance on-stage in a sexy burlesque routine for her husband. Instead, the confident lawyer hit the stage in front of Shane’s parents and RHOC co-stars Kelly Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke. I admire Emily’s confidence.

Real Housewives of Orange County alum Gretchen Rossi and her fiancé, serial housewife-dater Slade Smiley, wanted a family more than anything in the world. After Slade
had dated his way through much of the cast got together with Gretchen, their relationship was viewed with skepticism at best.
During Season 5 of RHOC, they started dating. In Season 8, Gretchen planned an over-the-top marriage proposal to Slade, and he accepted! The franchise cut Gretchen loose after that
tacky stunt grand romantic gesture. Just getting engaged does not serve as a storyline. Ask newly-demoted Vicki Gunvalson.
Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Gretchen Rossi hasn’t been on the show full-time since 2013. How can we ever forget that
cringe-worthy amazing episode when Gretchen popped the question to Slade Smiley, and he said “Yes!”
On July 10, Gretchen and her man finally welcomed their daughter, Skylar Gray. The couple had struggled with infertility for years before becoming pregnant.
All Shannon Beador wanted to do was plan a relaxing and healing trip for her Real Housewives of Orange County co-stars. The Housewives journeyed to Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa to get their zen on. Their trip would include healing time, spa treatments, and much-needed bonding. What could go wrong?
Kelly Dodd is the answer to that question. From the moment that she arrived, RHOC’s resident hot-head was sarcastic and cranky. She was not looking forward to seeing her newly demoted enemy, Vicki Gunvalson, who was scheduled to arrive the next day.
There is a complicated history between Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge and alum Gretchen Rossi. Let’s remember back to a dinner party during Gretchen’s first season. It was at Tamra’s house, and Tamra planned to get an engaged Gretchen “naked wasted.” Mission accomplished. It was weird watching Gretchen flirt with Tamra’s son and then bellow “TAMRAAA!”
Gretchen and her fiancé of 6 years, serial Housewife dater, Slade Smiley, welcomed their daughter Skylar Gray on July 10. The couple had battled infertility for a long time.
Real Housewives of Orange County viewers have watched the marital issues between Emily Simpson and her husband, Shane Simpson, escalate this season. Shane stayed at a hotel
supposedly studying for the California Bar exam, leaving Emily to work full-time and care for their children.
I cannot think of any reason why her husband stayed out of contact for 10 days. I wish that Shane would stay out of contact with RHOC viewers. Can viewers somehow vote to keep him off camera? His alleged sarcasm is wearing thin. And spoiler alert–Shane failed the bar exam in February. Again. So Emily is still the only working attorney in the family.
