I’m still reeling from the awesome premiere of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. It had everything a Housewives series should have, and then some! Money, insane fashion looks, a vow renewal, a marriage contract based in seeming incest, diversity, Mormons, party crashers and strippers, Botox. The. List. Goes. On.
Bravo has had a stupidly hard time understanding how diversity and inclusion works on their shows. From the beginning series have been segregated by race. Finally, they are casting women of varied racial and ethnic backgrounds to coexist on the same show! I guess the reckoning from Vanderpump Rules made them re-direct positively. Either way, RHOSLC is what Real Housewives should look like in 2020. Lisa Barlow, Mary Cosby, Heather Gay, Whitney Rose, and Meredith Marks all left me wanting more. But Jen Shah is the one who truly impressed me by speaking so openly about real life social issues right out of the gate.
There was a large voter turnout for the 2020 presidential election and that wasn’t a coincidence. People, both famous and not, were very vocal about the importance of voting and encouraging others to partake in the election.
That should all be a good thing, but some people don’t seem to feel that way. Vanderpump Rules cast member Ariana Madix had been encouraging people to vote, sending out reminders for election deadlines, and sharing other pertinent information throughout 2020. Apparently, that turned off a few thousand people because they decided to click “unfollow” on Ariana’s Instagram page.
This summer, Scheana Shay revealed that she went through a miscarriage. This was around the time that the news broke that Stassi Schroeder is pregnant. Soon after, Lala Kent and Brittany Cartwright shared their pregnancy announcements, which wasn’t surprising since they made an actual pregnancy pact with Katie Maloney.
After experiencing her miscarriage, Scheana announced that she and her boyfriend Brock Davies are expecting their first child together. He has a son and daughter from a previous marriage who live in Australia.
The Vanderpump Rules cast has grown up a lot. Not in terms of maturity or developing a social conscious. They’ve matured in the sense that they can buy two-million-dollar houses in Valley Village and fulfill a pregnancy pact, just like that Lifetime movie. That pact included Lala Kent, fired bigot Stassi Schroeder, and Brittany Cartwright. Outside of that pact is Scheana Shay, who is also pregnant! This is great news considering she suffered a miscarriage earlier this year.
During that awful time in Scheana’s life, Stassi was very supportive, along with Ariana Madix and Brittany. Now, for inexplicable reasons, Scheana and Stassi are on the outs again, and so are Scheana and Lala. Apparently, Stassi didn’t like Scheana sharing the one good story about Stassi this year that Stassi was supportive of her in the aftermath of her miscarriage. Now that Scheana has good news again, she’s sharing who in the cast has reached out with congratulations.
The Vanderpump Rules off-season has been full of drama. Unfortunately, for the cast members who didn’t get fired, it’s unclear when/if the show will come back. Thanks to the pandemic and the false narrative that this show is actually about the restaurants when most of them actually pretend to work there, the cast members are just sitting ducks, hoping to get the green light, filling up their free time with sponsored Instagram content (and pregnancies, for some of them anyway).
So, what does Andy Cohen think about the show carrying on without Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute?
Some of the cast members of Vanderpump Rules that were not fired for being racist have a lot to celebrate these days. Scheana Shay is newly pregnant. Her boyfriend might have a name like a criminal doctor on All My Children, but she seems happy and we certainly wish her the best. Lala Kent’s rags to riches story also continues to improve. Thankfully Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix have not fallen victim to breeding
publicity stunts because it’s on-trend at the moment.
Once hailed as the resident whore (because Katie calls it like she sees it) of SUR, now Lala is a mom-to-be. Currently still with her fiancé, Randall Emmett, hopefully Rand will pay all of his bills before the little bundle of joy arrives. These days Lala is observing another milestone in her life. Sadly, she has not repaired her relationship with Schee Shoo, but she has stayed on the wagon.
Even though we are in the midst of a pandemic, that didn’t stop reality TV stars from thirsting it up for Halloween on Instagram.
Vanderpump Rules newbie Dayna Kathan decided dress up as the late Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg… but “sexy.” Yes, you read that correctly. Ugh. As expected, Dayna got ripped apart by Instagram users who saw the costume.
This summer, Scheana Shay opened up about the miscarriage she experienced with Brock Davies. She shared that pregnant Stassi Schroeder was super supportive during that time, which apparently bothered Stassi even though it’s the only genuinely positive publicity she’s shared in a while. Now, Stassi and Scheana aren’t friends… again.
Scheana and Lala Kent publicly feuded when Scheana wasn’t invited to Lala and Randall Emmett’s gender reveal event. Then, Scheana crossed paths with Stassi and Lala at Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s gender reveal, which had to be awkward.
