Real Housewives of New York fans have had to accept that Season 12 is going to be very different than last season. Bethenny Frankel, one of the “OG” Housewives, left RHONY abruptly before filming for Season 12 began. But don’t worry, people. Luann de Lesseps isn’t singing sad songs about Bethenny leaving.
It turns out that Luann is pleased that Bethenny left, so that Bethenny would stop hogging all the attention. Of course she is! Now we can even more time devoted to cabaret and Luann’s glitzy life as a star of the stage.
When I heard that Bethenny Frankel was leaving the Real Housewives of New York, I was a little sad. Bethenny can be audacious, self-absorbed and always seems to be surrounded by chaos, but she was also a good fit for the show. She was often spot-on in her assessments of her castmates and wasn’t afraid to address issues like Luann de Lesseps’ cabaret obsession or Ramona Singer’s rudeness.
One of Bethenny’s most admirable traits is her business acumen. Within a few years of joining RHONY, Bethenny started her Skinny Girl brand and later sold off the cocktail division of her business, reportedly for big bucks. Last season, Bethenny admitted that her life was overwhelming her and that she was considering simplifying things by selling a part of her company. Over the summer, Bethenny announced she was leaving the show to focus on her daughter, philanthropy and a production partnership with Mark Burnett. And with a more recent announcement, Bethenny continues to focus on her Skinny Girl brand.
There has been a lot of buzz about the Real Housewives of New York since the end of last season. Bethenny Frankel’s announcement that she was leaving RHONY left fans wondering what would happen to the show. Part of the answer came in the form of Leah McSweeney joining the cast.
Recently, there has been even more chatter surrounding the New York ladies. Sonja Morgan was a BravoCon no-show the very same weekend she was allegedly kicked out of a Philadelphia gay bar for bad behavior. Tinsley Mortimer became engaged to on-again-off-again boyfriend Scott Kluth and took a break from filming. And now Luann de Lesseps is weighing in on what the new season will be like–and she is throwing a little shade at Bethenny in the process.
This has been a busy 2019 for Bravo host Andy Cohen. In December of 2018, the Watch What Happens Live host made a very special announcement. Andy shared that he was going to become a father while several “OG” Housewives, including Ramona Singer, Teresa Giudice, Kyle Richards, Vicki Gunvalson, and NeNe Leakes, were chatting in the WWHL clubhouse. I just loved that reveal!
In fact, Andy even moved Watch What Happens Live from New York City to Los Angeles for four weeks while he prepared for the birth of his son via surrogate. This was only the third time that the talk show had filmed in Los Angeles.
Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd went to visit her friend, RHONY’s Ramona Singer, in the Hamptons in August. Kelly had just split from her plastic surgeon boyfriend, Brian Reagan. What better way to mend a broken heart than hanging out with your friends and chilling?
Ramona introduced Kelly to Rick Leventhal, who is a Fox News correspondent, at a BBQ in the Hamptons. In November, Rick put a ring on it after a few months of dating. He proposed to Kelly on the rooftop terrace of his home in New York City.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Yes, we’ve seen the Real Housewives of New York cast travel to Mexico a million times at this point, but to quote Sonja Morgan, “We always have the best time.” Seriously though. The viewers enjoy it, the cast goes all out, and in all honesty, the other Real Housewives shows should take notes. This cast always delivers.
Yes, it would be great to switch up the RHONY cast trip locations, but the ladies always pull through in Mexico. Who could forget Luann de Lesseps drunkenly falling into that bush? What about Bethenny Frankel and Ramona Singer’s naked heart to heart in the pool? There have been so many classic RHONY moments south of the border. I am sure there will be even more iconic scenes from the Season 12 Mexico trip.
Real Housewives of New York star Tinsley Mortimer has been off-and on-again
a million many times with Coupon King Scott Kluth. After spending about a year apart, the duo once again decided to give it another try in October. Again.
RHONY viewers know that all Tinsley wants is a wealthy husband who is ready to fertilize her frozen eggs. Tinsley really wants to be a mom. But given all the drama in this relationship, who would have bet that Scott would commit to Tinsley? Complicating matters is the fact that Scott lives in Chicago, and Tinsley is a New York Housewife.
Sonja Morgan is always the life of the party. The Real Housewives of New York star makes sure fun follows wherever she goes. Sometimes a little too much fun. Last season, Sonja had a scary fall from a chair on the cast Miami trip while drinking. Fortunately, she was alright. Last month, she was reportedly booted from a Philadelphia gay bar for bad behavior. You know the behavior must be terrible if an iconic Housewife is booted from a gay bar!
One area of Sonja’s life that hasn’t always been a carefree party is her New York City townhouse. It was apparent from past seasons that the place had seen better days. Dated decor, plumbing issues, water damage and more have bedeviled our Sonja for years. Not to mention the bathroom sink that came off the wall during one of her amorous adventures! Oh–and the brown ice that was dispensed from her refrigerator–another townhouse highlight. Now, Sonja has decided to sell her beloved Morgan Gardens.
