Ever since her exit from Real Housewives of New York, Bethenny Frankel has made it very clear that she wants nothing do with the show
that made her famous and helped her become a millionaire. She even pretends that she is too busy to watch it. No, I don’t think she’s necessarily tuning in every Thursday night or setting her DVR to record it, but I do think she’s keeping up with what’s going on.
She even sounded off on Dorinda Medley’s exit from the show, soon after Dorinda confirmed the news. Most likely, Dorinda was fired, but we all know this song and dance. Every Real Housewife acts like she just decided to move on to a new chapter when she was actually fired. Well, Bethenny actually did quit the show, but she’s one of the very few.
When Dorinda Medley joined Real Housewives of New York City for season 7, she was an instant fan favorite. She already had a backstory with the rest of the cast members. She had some funny one-liners. Overall, she was very entertaining and very easy to like. So, what happened?
The woman we looked forward to seeing every week just became so miserable. Or at the very least she just projected misery. She went after Tinsley Mortimer this season, taking some very low jabs; i.e. when she offered up a turkey baster for Tinsley to conceive a child. Once Tins exited the show, Dorinda had some enjoyable moments, but she still brought the mood at some point during every episode. She just became so frustrating to watch. Soon enough we will be in the post-Dorinda era on Real Housewives of New York. That’s right: she’s out after this season.
The Mexico trip is almost over, but the Real Housewives of New York are probably happy about that. The trip has seen so much chaos and turbulence in the group. From the initial issue between Ramona Singer and Leah McSweeney to the renewed focus on Dorinda Medley’s anger, it’s been a journey. On last week’s Real Housewives of New York episode, Ramona tried confronting Dorinda, and it went horribly wrong.
Ramona might be one of the worst possible people to be dishing out life advice. She treats people just as badly most of the time. Another thing coming up soon is Sonja Morgan’s big fashion event at Century 21. After so many years of claiming to be working on so many things, this might actually happen. Cross your fingers folks, and hope Sonja pulls through. If she has another failed business, her friends might lose hope for her forever.
The Real Housewives of New York cast members are still partying in Cancun, Mexico during tonight’s upcoming episode.
On the very last night of the vacation Ramona Singer decides to address Dorinda Medley’s anger issues in a group text. I don’t know why she doesn’t just do this in person since the whole cast is on the trip though. Oh, wait. We all saw how that went last week when Dorinda refused to listen to anyone else and threw a temper tantrum at lunch. On second thought, I don’t blame Ramona for turning to a group text. It just seems like too much of a headache to deal with in person.
You know a Real Housewives conflict matters when cast members from a different series have an opinion on the situation. Take the accusations of infidelity and intimidation that Brandi Glanville lobbed at Denise Richards. Not only did Brandi claim that she and Denise had an affair, but that Denise demanded her discretion and silence about what allegedly happened between them.
Denise was grilled about it multiple times by the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast and had a hard time defending herself. Though Brandi claimed Denise and husband Aaron Phypers had an open marriage, Denise’s level of hurt and humiliation over the rumors would contradict that claim. Co-star Garcelle Beauvais questioned how Denise handled the situation, suggesting that she needed to stand up for herself. Now, another housewife is suggesting how Denise could have handled the rumors differently.
This season of Real Housewives of New York has been a journey in more ways than one. To start, there’s the whole pandemic that’s altered filming. We’ve also known for a long time that former favorite, Tinsley Mortimer was going to leave us. What I don’t think anyone expected was the love that Leah McSweeney would garner. She’s been touted as one of the best new housewives ever. Not an easy feat!
Of course, Ramona Singer hasn’t made Leah’s entry easy. This week’s episode we watched her call Leah an “untamed horse” because she’s single and made out with a man. Yea, I don’t get it. I guess that’s a light offense, though. Don’t forget she also outed Leah’s bipolar disorder this season. Then there’s the time she implied Leah has a drinking problem on par with the rest of the cast. Through all of that, Leah still has some respect for the Ramona-coaster.
We all saw Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan object when Leah McSweeney wanted to bring her sister Sarah McSweeney on the cast trip to Rhode Island. Ramona initially said yes, and then backtracked, most likely when she realized Leah’s sister would be getting some screentime on Real Housewives of New York.
We didn’t get to see this on camera, but Sarah claimed on social media that Ramona was flirting with guys at the bar while she had a poop stain on her pants. Just imagine if we got to see both McSweeney sisters going toe to toe with Ramona. The Ramonster would be so uncomfortable by the inevitable mentions of body parts and curse words.
More drunken Mexico antics can be expected on this new episode of The Real Housewives of New York. SO. MUCH. DRINKING. All season has felt like the longest bender ever. Did Bethenny Frankel really keep these women in check that much? However, maybe things will change for Sonja Morgan now that she stopped taking her “water pills”. That excuse seems a little weak, but maybe it will actually work.
Leah McSweeney and
Corona Ramona Singer have been at odds for weeks, and it might be a lost cause. They’re fundamentally different. Everything they stand for is so opposite. One actually cares about people. The other does whatever she can to make people look and feel lesser than they are. You do the math to figure out who is who. Ramona has no clue how to handle someone like Leah, and it’s the perfect match made in hell for her.
