Sheesh was last night’s Real Housewives Of Orange County a big ole snooze. When the most exciting thing that happens is Shannon Beador bending over on national TV (and I don’t think she was attempting the Legally Blonde Bend & Snap!) before wobbling her own self-described gut, you know it’s gonna be a good one!
Look, I feel for Gina Whatserfacernameo, but I am so tired of her talking about her divorce! I KNOW, I KNOW – getting divorced is traumatic, painful, and all-consuming, but we’re not connected to Gina or Mystery Meat Matt who just walked through our door, and yet every episode features Gina crying over how she knows she’s doing the right thing by ending her marriage, but yada, yada, yada…
Moral compasses aside, the ladies are making their best efforts to get along on tonight’s Real Housewives of Orange County. In the wake of Gina Kirschenheiter’s divorce announcement, Vicki Gunvalson is still spewing her “stay married” advice. However, this time it’s poor Steve Lodge who is the captive audience. She really tries to work marriage into about every conversation with this man, doesn’t she? The best part of this story is that her holier than thou conversation happens at a biker bar after an afternoon of riding a motorcycle with her man. Talk about a fish out of water!
Meanwhile in the OC, Emily Simpson admits that she loves living so close to her in-laws. Not only does her pocket MIL provide wonderful insight, but she’s a damn good babysitter, too! Speaking of babies, Emily has a tragic past with pregnancies which is what ultimately led her sister to be a surrogate for her and Shane. With nine viable embryos still on ice with her doctor, she is eager to give her own daughter a sister close in age. The only snag in her plan? Shane isn’t on board for another child…yet.
When I’m wrong, I say I’m wrong (kudos to anyone who remembers who said that movie quote!), and I was wrong. At the beginning of this season of Real Housewives of Orange County, I didn’t have time to invest in the new cast members. The OGs (and then some) have enough drama. Why did Bravo bring in new ladies to interact with the hypocritical harpies who need an orthopedic boot to fit into their mean girls group?
That said, I’m reformed. I now enjoy Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter. They are a refreshing backdrop to Shannon Beador’s insecurities, Kelly Dodd’s tantrums, Vicki Gunvalson’s delusions, and Tamra Judge’s judginess (that’s not technically a word, but work with me). Could this group of many-times divorced ladies relate to or show an ounce of concern for Gina as she navigates a path that most of these broads could walk in the pitch black dark? Why do they want her to stay married when they didn’t? Should she be made to share her soul’s secrets with women who are trying their hardest to force nature’s hand with injections when they are likely the age of her mother? I don’t think so. You know who agrees with me? Newbie Emily. **
As if that was not absurd enough, former Real Housewives of Orange County cast members Gretchen Rossi and her fiance Slade Smileyvolunteered to testify againstTamra and Shannon, even though they have absolutely nothing to do with this case. At all. Although Gretchen now claims they were subpoenaed to do so.
The podcast itself didn’t really make major headlines, but Jim himself keeps dragging this whole thing out and bringing more attention to Tamra and Shannon’s comments than they originally received. Jim isn’t the only former cast member looking for attention. Cue, Slade Smileyand his fiancee, former Orange County Housewife, Gretchen Rossi. They decided to involve themselves in this whole mess. Yes, this does seem random, but it really is not surprising that these two are entangled in this.
Vicki Gunvalson does not like her relationships to be the center of the storylines on The Real Housewives of Orange County. At least not for negative reasons. Yet, Vicki finds herself there once again this season. Her co-stars are now questioning whether Steve Lodge is a good pick for her and Vicki is not happy about it. She also lashes out at Kelly Dodd, pointing out how much Kelly has changed since her divorce.
Vicki started off her latest episode rehash by defending her friendship with Chef Domenico, “I was shocked to hear Tamra say I should be dating him over Steve. First of all, I love Steve and was taken back by that comment. Domenico has been married the entire time I have known him, and to also set the record straight, I have never ever had any indiscretions with him nor would I.”
Production needs to give Emily Simpson’s husband Shane Simpson an orange to hold up during the opening credits. He has contributed more to this season of Real Housewives of Orange County than some of the actual Housewives. Sure, he’s rubbed pretty much every viewer the wrong way, but at least he’s given us something to talk about thanks to his war of words with Kelly Dodd.
