Out of the recent couples from 90 Day The Other Way, Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee were not a favorite of mine. Deavan never seemed to be happy and Jihoon was a bum. I’m not sure what she expected to happen when she moved their young family to South Korea. Especially knowing that Jihoon had an iffy past when it came to money.
And like we all expected, it blew up in her face. Jihoon was paying off debt and giving whatever money he made to his mom. They fought constantly. She also had a miscarriage, which I’m sure caused additional strain. Then she left with the kids to come back to the U.S. to get some space. Which basically turned into her immediately meeting someone new and having her kids call him Dad.
Deavan Clegg has done a complete 180 since we last saw her on 90 Day Fiance The Other Way. On one episode, she was still getting married for the second time to husband, Jihoon Lee and living in Korea. But by the end of the show, she headed back to the states for some space. Since then, they have broken up, allegations of abuse have surfaced, and Deavan has seemingly moved on already.
Since her return to the U.S., she’s stayed in the news thanks to a new relationship with “actor” Topher Park. There is even speculation that they are engaged. She started an Only Fans account and wants a boob job. But on a negative note, she’s locked in a bitter custody battle with Jihoon, which he has been desperately trying to raise money for.
2020 was the year of endless quarantines and lockdowns. It was a year of inertia. And with people’s movement limited, you stayed in one place both literally and figuratively.
But 90 Day Fiance star Deavan Clegg defied it all. Not only did she move back to the USA from Korea, but she also moved on from ex-husband Jihoon Lee. After leaving South Korea in May, Deavan confirmed a relationship with Topher Park in August. A month later, divorce proceedings between Deavan and Jihoon started. Now, Deavan is hinting at one last big announcement to end 2020 with a bang.
Jihoon Lee has been remarkably quiet on social media since he split from Deavan Clegg. Considering the accusations that she made against him, including abusing her daughter, it’s commendable that all Jihoon has said is that he is ashamed of how he was portrayed on the show.
Now that the couple separated and Deavan has moved on with actor Topher Park, their story transitions into an international custody battle. Not that 90 Day Fiance needs to exploit this family further by filming it. But whether you are team Deavan or team Jihoon, the obvious question is what happens next?
Based on her social media posts, there are two key takeaways from Deavan Clegg’s life after filming wrapped for 90 Day Fiance The Other Way. The first is that Deavan is happy in a new relationship with Topher Park. The second is that she and Jihoon Lee had a much more tumultuous relationship than what was shown on screen. One that included alleged abuse of Deavan’s daughter Drascilla.
Deavan moved to South Korea for her second season on the show. Living in a foreign country was a lot more stressful than just navigating culture shocks and living with man that she was unable to communicate with. According to Deavan, she was treated as a “puppet” by the show management. In a recent social media post, Deavan revealed that this mistreatment led her to contemplate taking her own life.
Jihoon Lee was often apologizing to Deavan Clegg on 90 Day Fiance The Other Way. And her mother. She had the kind of aura that brought out the frantic in Jihoon, who was berated for not properly tending to all of Deavan’s shortcomings and disappointments. Granted, he did lie about his job and financial stability multiple times, but that doesn’t mean he is responsible for changing Deavan’s entire negative outlook on life. Also, Drascilla running into the street was so not on him. He was not her disciplinarian for three plus years.
Deavan’s social media indicated that she had already moved on from Jihoon in real time, before their wedding even aired. Maybe we could have hoped, for the children’s sake, that it had worked out between them. However, Deavan’s fight or flight mentality makes one question whether she had ever planned to return to Korea. Jihoon may have been immature and/or got a bad edit, but most viewers feel badly for him in lieu of the fact that he has not seen his son since Deavan returned to the USA.
You guys. It’s almost like finding love on the internet from another hemisphere and then filming it all for clout doesn’t end it happiness! This season of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way has been the hottest mess. Well except for Kenneth Niedermeier and Armando Rubio. But seriously, the number of women who toted their mothers across the globe to yell at their baby daddies is two too many. I’m looking at you, Ariela Weinberg and Deavan Clegg. I’m guessing everyone else watching this show is having flashbacks to *that* relationship. You know, the one where everyone saw the chaos but you.
Deavan and Jihoon Lee are one of the extra tragic couples who have both sets of parents involved. A necessary evil when your job is selling stolen cell phones, I guess. Economic, sure. But sadly for our dear Jihoon, it’s not exactly a marital panty-dropper to constantly ask your mommy for cash. Especially while your wife has to crowd source boob-job money. Yea. That happened.
