If you watched the trainwreck that was Real Housewives of Orange County last season, you might be scratching your head. Is it the Braunwyn Windham-Burke show now? Braunwyn has numerous issues and pretty much all of them were the focus of last year’s RHOC. Even though Braunie did the most, Gina Kirschenheiter was dealing with her own life. She had a new boyfriend, Travis Mullen, and their blended family turned into blended bliss. Unfortunately, a dark cloud was still hanging over Gina.
Back in 2019, things were quite different. Gina was in the midst of attempting to reconcile with now ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter. RHOC shining a light directly into their lives didn’t do Gina and Matt’s marriage any favors. Matt cheating on Gina didn’t help things either. But Gina was determined to forgive and forget until Matt did something completely unforgivable. In June of that year, Matt lost his shit and his mind. He terrorized Gina, threatened to kill her (while the kids were home), and beat her up. Now it’s time for Matt to face the music.
This is it. The end of Season 15 of The Real Housewives of Orange County. We made it, guys. Now, I for one wouldn’t actually say it’s been the worst season in modern Housewives history. (That distinction still goes, in my opinion, to Season 13…) But it certainly was an odd duck in the show’s fifteen-year canon. And sure, there are plenty of reasons. Blame it on the pandemic. Or in the glaring absence of Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson. Blame it on the new girl. Or on the fact that these women don’t really have authentic friendships anymore.
But really, when you look back at the history of RHOC, the show veered off course after Season 11. And it’s been in a never-ending nose dive ever since. (Though I for one rather enjoyed most of Season 14…) Personally, I have my theories about why that is. (Read: the unforgivable loss of Heather Dubrow, which many fans are just now starting to recognize four seasons after her exit.) But either way, this is where we’ve arrived. So for one last time, let’s dive back into the complicated mire that is Season 15 in the OC.
There is more trouble brewing between Real Housewives of Orange County stars Gina Kirschenheiter and Braunwyn Windham-Burke. During the Season 15 premiere, Braunwyn revealed that she is an alcoholic. It was a shock for RHOC viewers.
She is also redefining her relationship with her husband, Sean Burke. The couple has shared that they had threesomes with other women in the past.
Gina Kirschenheiter is already off to a rough season on Real Housewives of Orange County. Sure, everything seems fine, but is it? She has a new boyfriend, Travis Mullen. He seems great and all but I definitely think there is a co-dependent vibe between the two. Gina moved on very quickly from her divorce. So quickly, that Travis has even been attending her meetings with her attorney on camera.
But aside from Gina fighting with castmates over whether or not her new house is sad, her appearance has become a topic of conversation too. Off the show, fans can’t stop talking about her horrible extensions. On the show, Gina has regularly complained about her “love chub”. That’s code for some weight she has put on while newly in love. We get it. And by we, I mean me. I get it.
Braunwyn Windham-Burke has been doing a lot of interviews lately to promote Real Housewives of Orange County. For the most part, I’m here for it. She’s talking a lot of shit and spilling a lot of tea.
Previously, Emily Simpson revealed that EVERY Real Housewives of Orange County star unfollowed Braunwyn on social media, for her own separate reasons. Braunwyn said she wasn’t talking to anyone in the cast. Recently, Braunwyn revealed that Shannon Beador reached out in addition to theorizing that Kelly Dodd and Emily unfollowed Braunwyn due to their very different political beliefs. Now, Emily is clapping back.
Real Housewives of Orange County star Gina Kirschenheiter hasn’t been lucky in love. When she started appearing on the show, her husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, lived in an apartment three hours away. Gina had never even seen his
bachelor pad apartment. RHOC viewers never caught a glimpse of her husband, but now he is set to make his debut during Season 15. Is this really necessary?
In April of 2018, Gina filed for divorce because Matt had an affair. On June 22, 2019, Matt allegedly physically attacked his wife, and he was charged with felony domestic violence. Even more disturbing was the fact that their children were home at the time.
Welcome back to week three of The Real Housewives of Orange County! Now before we go down the rabbit hole to discuss Shannon Beador‘s revamped food line, Kelly Dodd‘s latest tone deaf behavior or whatever hair nightmare Gina Kirschenheiter will inflict upon us this week, I realize I failed to analyze one very important element of any new Housewives season last week: taglines! Since I started with episode 2, I didn’t think much about it. But in retrospect, Bravo supplanted the taglines in the reveal with Jeana Keough‘s epic Desperate Housewives-inspired intro. So let’s dive into the Season 15 taglines shall we?
For starters, they’re pretty atrocious. I mean, right? Like, all together they might be the weakest batch in RHOC history. Possibly in all of Housewives history. And that’s saying something for a show that started out with Vicki Gunvalson crying, “I don’t wanna get old” way back in Season 1. Kelly telling viewers not to judge her? After everything she’s been doing and saying in the wake of a global pandemic? That’s rich. (And don’t even get me started on that “Drunk Wives Matter” moment.) Braunwyn Windham-Burke‘s makes more sense in the context of her alcoholism than it did before the season premiered, while Shannnon‘s “closed Beador” probably would’ve been more effective if she’d used it back in Season 13 right after her split.
Braunwyn Windham-Burke’s family life is eclipsing the current season of Real Housewives of Orange County. She has been very open about her alcoholism and its effects on her husband Sean Burke and her
manipulative, thirsty, toxic mother Dr. Deb.
Braunwyn has also said that she has another love interest outside of her marriage, which Sean is, apparently cool with. Oh, and she and Sean aren’t even living together these days. There is a lot to unpack there, so it’s interesting how Braunwyn had found the time to diss Gina Kirschenheiter for her love life, specifically Gina’s decision to move in with Travis Mullen six months into their relationship and eight months after her split from Matt Kirschenheiter. As the viewers have seen, Gina, Matt, and all of their kids (six of them) are living in a three-bedroom condo together.
