Once a year, something exciting happens in Utah. As January wraps its icy hand around the state, celebrities descend on Park City for the Sundance Film Festival. For two weeks, the state most known for religion becomes the epicenter of the entertainment industry, with A-list stars and indie up-and-comers converging for an endless parade of premieres, parties and Park City moments. And this week, we get to experience it all through the fabulous lens of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
As a native Utahn, Sundance truly was the most fun I had all year. Every year of college, my friends and I would make a staycation out of it, renting a hotel suite in Park City and spending the weekend strolling Main Street and meeting celebs and Bravolebrities alike. In fact, Sundance was the very first time I ever encountered a Housewife in real life. Over the years, my BFFs and I met everyone from Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley to the Shahs of Sunset and the Vanderpump Rules gang. In fact, my most epic Sundance stories involve both Harry Styles and one particular A-list actor who shall remain nameless. But those are stories for another day. Let’s get into the recap, shall we?
What a wild and crazy ride 2020 has been. This year has been devastating in so many ways. While some positives have come from the recently highlighted Black Lives Matter movement, it’s honestly appalling we’re still having to explain racism to grown ass adults. Then there’s the entire pandemic some people are still pretending doesn’t exist. The audacity.
We’re almost through this torturous year, but not in time for one of Bravo’s most renowned and beloved pets.
For a show that isn’t filming, Vanderpump Rules has been in the news. There has been a loooooong production delay, thanks to that nasty Miss Covid. Cast changes were imminent after the firing of veterans Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute. Much speculation surrounds the fate of Pump Rules, but it has NOT been officially cancelled.
Last week, it was announced that two more core members of the crew were terminated. Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright have been released into the wild to fend for themselves. The couple revealed their departure via social media in clear, concise statements that were nearly identical. Fans began to question the validity of the announcements due to the
lack of spelling errors similarities. Now we find out, maybe Brit and Jax didn’t write their own statements after all.
The Vanderpump Rules reckoning is an ongoing movement. Since OGs Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired this summer for racist behavior (along with newbies Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni), people have been waiting for Jax Taylor to get the boot. Jax and his wife, Brittany Cartwright, made headlines this year when it was revealed that they were totally apathetic about having a homophobe marry them on TV. It was also revealed that Brittany used racial slurs against Faith Stowers.
Jax and Brittany got booted off Pump Rules last week. In spite of the fact that Stassi didn’t want them to get fired. Brittany’s meemaw can’t churn out the beer cheese fast enough to sooth either of them. This was a long time coming for Jax. His absence will shift the show, and even Andy Cohen is ready for the change.
Marriage Boot Camp: The Pregnant and Fired is about to have a whole season of Vanderpump Rules cast members who were terminated for being ignorant. Speculation was running rampant that Pump Rules was on death’s door and the prognosis was grim. But wait, longtime fans of the show might have a glimmer of hope! The first sign of the resurrection would have to be the demise of Jax Taylor who was unceremoniously #firedbybravo.
It’s a real shame Jax will no longer be able to cheat, sweat profusely, or gaslight other cast members going forward. Jax liked to think of himself as above everyone else. One of the best moments from the Season 8 reunion was when newbie Charli Burnett risked Jax’s wrath by implying he is a whole fossil. Jax advised Charli to “know her role” and put her in her place – now Charli wants to return the favor.
The hits just keep on coming for the cast of Vanderpump Rules! Many fans wondered what would happen to the show after the firing of stars Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute for racist behaviors. But that was months ago and aside from a million pregnancy announcements, not much has been said about the show since.
Two people who fans were not happy about sticking around are Jax Taylor and wife, Brittany Cartwright. Jax has long been accused of being problematic, aside from just being a massive a**hole. And Brittany was accused of saying racist things about former castmate, Faith Stowers. But given all the months that went by, it seemed like these two were spared of the mass firings. Too bad for them, we finally got our wish. People rejoice! Jax and Brittany are officially off the show! Now, of course they are making it sound like it was a mutual decision and they weren’t fired. But we know better, don’t we?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ring-a-ding-dong, Karma is dropping off some early holiday gifts. And this one is a DOOZY. Bravo fans got a lesson in what not to do this year. The clock struck 15 minutes for both Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute of Vanderpump Rules fame. Chances are, Vanderpump Rules will be the only fame these two are familiar with due to their little police report stunt involving former SURver Faith Stowers.
Stassi and Kristen were canned amid accusations of racism. Faith took the baton and started running with it. She claimed Pump Rules lacked diversity (duh). She directly attacked Lisa Vanderpump, which was
foolish interesting. It seemed Faith was on a one-woman mission to disparage the show that put her name on the reality television roster. In a shocking turn of events, while Stassi and Kristen work day and night to crawl back to your tv, Faith might be a couple of laps ahead.
