Should Adam Lambert Judge American Idol?

Holy smokes, the American Idol rumors are running rampant! Adam Lambert is reportedly being considered as a judge for season 12 of the reality competition show that made him famous. It would be an easy switch – Jennifer Lopez, who wants to be done with American Idol, moves out and Adam Lambert moves in.

“He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start,” an unnamed source is quoted telling E! News. “He knows what it’s like to be on the receiving end of the judges’ comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can’t go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him.”

After the rumors gone wild yesterday, Adam Lambert gave this statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “Idol has an amazing history of introducing great musical talent, and I was very fortunate to have had the Idol stage play a big part in my career. If Idol wants to talk to me about judging, I’d be more than flattered to have that conversation.”

He doesn’t straight up confirm or deny the rumor.

The same E! News source is claiming all the current judges could be on the chopping block. Losing Steven Tyler would crush this Aerosmith super fan, but it wouldn’t come as a shock.

American Idol could return without Randy Jackson behind the table?  Say it isn’t so! Who would name drop?  Did you know Randy worked with Whitney and Mariah – I bet you didn’t know. (rolling my eyes)  Who would woot, woot to the dog pound?  Who would say stupid stuff like “Adam’s in it to win it” and “for me for you?” Randy is the only original judge left, which might count for something, but he really doesn’t bring anything substantial to the panel.

“Randy is great, but he’s part of the old Idol,” the source explains.”They want to keep the soul of the show but have a new look, and for that reason he may well not be part of the new line up.”

Will American Idol return with three new judges?  Will Adam Lambert be one of them?

It’s really not a bad idea.  Adam returned to the show in season nine, to mentor the contestants, and he did a fantastic job.  He dished out praise and criticism equally.  This is an idea the current judges don’t seem to understand.  Also, Adam is current, wildly popular, and he has been through the Idol process, which would be a judging first.
