The Ratings For The Premiere Of Duck Dynasty Season Three Are Record Breaking!

My faith in humanity has been totally restored.  Not only did the powers that be here at Reality Tea have me start recapping Duck Dynasty (score!), but apparently the rest of the world is finally catching on to reality's best kept secret.  The world loves the Robertsons, and that makes me love the world.

As if my love of Si, Willie, Jase, Phil, and their families isn't enough to keep me warm at night, now I am so excited to report that viewers everywhere are following suit.  Last night's ratings for Duck Dynasty were through the roof, and A&E can just sit back and pat itself on the back for a job well done.  The Duck Commander crew has arrived, and I hope they aren't going anywhere.

I don't think that anyone will be surprised to learn that Wednesday's season three two-episode premiere was the highest rated showing to date for the network.  It broke records for A&E in every demographic, scoring more than 8.6 million viewers.  Well deserved, I say.

According to Deadline, the numbers for the premiere were up 132% from that of season two.  One hundred and thirty-two percent!  Holy cow!  That is unheard of, people.  I couldn't be more thrilled for my favorite camo wearing crew.

If that was the extent of the ratings news, it would be huge.  But it's not.  I know, right?  What could top being the highest rated show in a network's history with an increase of over 100% from the last season premiere?  Not much…unless you're beating out the beloved comedy Modern Family and the long running reality competition American Idol to become the number one show in its time slot on Wednesday for adults 18-49.  Duck. Dynasty. Beat. Phil. Dunphy.  No words!

A&E became the top network in the 10PM time slot for all of Wednesday night television.  If you'd asked me to name an A&E show eighteen months ago, I could have maybe said Intervention (does that come on A&E?), and now the network is playing with the big boys.  Who doesn't love a great underdog story?
