Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift might have been maintaining their decades-long friendship with “six-hour catchups” now, but his favorite memory centers on those six months they spent together during the 2013 Red Tour. Sheeran recently made an appearance on Alexandra Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast when he recalled the truly special time he and Swift experienced together nearly a decade ago. All these years later, the singer revealed that they get together a handful of times throughout the year for hours-long catch-ups.
Ed Sheeran’s ‘favorite memory’ with Taylor Swift is doing ‘gigs together’
A big Swiftie herself, Alex Cooper jumped on the opportunity to get Ed Sheeran to dish details about his close friendship with Taylor Swift when he appeared on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. Knowing that the singers have been friends for decades, Cooper asked Sheeran about his “favorite memory” with Swift when he recalled their time together in Nashville during the Red Tour. Sharing the backstory with the host, he remembered going through old text messages during past court cases when he looked back on their “gigs together” and felt “nostalgic.”
“I was in these court cases for like two years, I mean it was a lot longer than two years,” Sheeran narrated. He then revealed that at the time, he had to go through his “old devices” to provide lawyers with digital tracks such as “voicenotes.” The Grammy winner remembered feeling “nostalgic” while going through his “old texts with people I’ve known for that long,” including those with Swift and the recollection of the “period of time” when he joined her for the 2013 Red Tour.
It’s no secret that Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift have worked together, given that their hit song “Everything Has Changed” was a part of her 2012 album, “Red.” Sheeran, who served at Swift’s opening act during the tour, told Copper that they both lived in Nashville and “used to fly to and from the gigs together.” Back then, they spent “every single day” with each other for about six months.
While things might not look the same in their friendship, they do see each other from time to time. Swift and Sheeran’s meetups are not quite as frequent, with limited meetings, like “four times a year,” when they have “proper sit down six-hour catchups” instead of getting together the whole time.
