Travis Kelce Reveals ‘Favorite’ Part of Viral Easter Tweet

In the recent episode of “New Heights,” Jason Kelce brought back his brother Travis Kelce’s old Easter tweet, causing quite a stir. The tweet is more than a decade old, dating back to Easter 2010. Its amusing charm stems from its odd hashtag and the reference to Jesus’s resurrection. Meanwhile, Jason had a fun time riffing about the tweet, joking it was “potentially the greatest tweet ever tweeted on Easter Day.”

Travis Kelce explains old Easter tweet on New Heights podcast

“New Heights” released its latest episode on April 23, marking the podcast’s 136th episode featuring the Kelce brothers. Within two minutes of the episode, Jason Kelce brought up Travis’s old Easter tweet from April 4, 2010. He jested, “We have potentially the greatest tweet ever tweeted on Easter Day,” prompting Travis to immediately call it “dumb.” Travis laughed at the randomness of his old tweet, later explaining the context behind it.

The tweet read, “happy easter to all!!! #shoutout to Jesus for takin one for the team… haha.” As the brothers riffed on the story of Easter, Jason joked about Jesus’ “entrance” after the resurrection. Before calling the tweet “so ridiculous,” Jason read the tweet out loud, to which Travis chimed in with his “favorite part” of the tweet.

Travis joked, “My favorite part of it is the ‘haha’ at the end.” He explained, “I wanted to make sure everybody knew I was having a good time joking about this.” However, he clarified that he “couldn’t take it too serious.” The NFL player continued reflecting on the meaning behind the tweet, saying, “He died for our sins so that we can sin without having any type of ramifications for it.” He cheekily added, “We get school off. It’s a holiday. It’s no school.”

When Jason Kelce demanded more justification from Travis in the episode, the latter replied, “It was just about the free day,” adding, “that’s so good.” Travis’s joy in having a “free day” and “no school day” was visible in his tweet, making it a new beloved internet oddity.
