Page Six shared Backgrid’s photos of Barack Obama enjoying a dinner with his girls, with Michelle notably missing from the family hangout amid her attempts to shut down divorce rumors.
Michelle Obama previously explained her decision to take a break from the spotlight on Sophia Bush’s “Work in Progress” podcast while dismissing rumors and speculation about problems in her marriage. But her opting to sit out the family dinner on Friday, which seemed the ideal way to kick off the weekend, reignited the talks she willfully tried to silence.
The snaps showed the former president of the United States leaning into a more casual look in a bomber jacket, black shirt, and grey trousers for the outing. On Friday, Obama and their daughters, Malia and Sasha, were spotted heading to dinner at a popular sushi restaurant, Hamasaku, in West Los Angeles.
However, his wife remained noticeably absent from the get-together for unclear reasons. Michelle previously missed other political events, such as President Donald Trump’s inauguration and former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral
Earlier this month, Michelle Obama brushed off divorce rumors on Bush’s podcast as she justified her absence from the spotlight. “I chose to do what was best for me,” said the mom of two, explaining she now has full control of her social life and calendar.
Moreover, Michelle addressed how saying “no” or making choices for herself raised questions about problems in her and Barack Obama’s marriage. She commented that people could not “fathom that I was making a choice for myself, that they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing.”
