Weeks after Blue Origin‘s first all-female crew journeyed to space, Katy Perry seemingly responded to the criticism and online hate. Earlier this month, the singer joined the six-member team, including Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez, broadcaster Gayle King, scientists Amanda Nguyen and Aisha Bowe, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, for a brief but successful mission. However, she found herself in the thick of online negativity shortly after the spacecraft’s safe landing.
Perry’s addressal came in view of the recent backlash surrounding the space trip in an emotional note to fans. In the comment on a fan account’s post, she expressed gratitude to her admirers and assured them she continues to “remain true” to herself and is doing “ok.”

Katy Perry appeared to throw subtle shade at haters and commenters for criticizing her Blue Origin Space trip. In her comment, the pop sensation shared that she has been practicing “grace” and “love” amid the recent criticism, while the “‘online’ world tries to make me a human Piñata.” Perry’s comment came weeks after encountering flak and becoming the face of trolls online following her 11-minute trip to space as part of the aerospace company’s first-ever all-female crew.
She first expressed gratitude toward fans who supported her through the recent controversy. “I’m so grateful for you guys,” she wrote in the comments of a fan account post, assuring them that their “bond” encourages her to “remain true to myself, heart open and honest.” Perry further notified them that she is “ok” and has worked diligently to find her “real” self and “what is important to me” before reflecting on her therapist’s “game changer” advice from years ago.
Katy Perry then seemingly directed her note toward the “‘online’ world” that tried to make her “a human Piñata,” especially with the Blue Origin criticism. “I take it with grace and send them love,” the musician wrote, claiming to know that “people are hurting in so many ways” before describing the internet as a “dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed.”
In one final observation, Perry expressed the feeling of “warmth” she gets performing in front of her fans and how they have been “healing each other in a small way” in doing that. She compared her “human journey” to “playing the game of life,” and despite all her falls, she continues to “back up and go on and continue to play the game.”
