Cardi B’s Met Gala 2025 look reflects her ‘main-character energy’
Cardi B once again proved why she remains the “main character” at every event. The rapper took to the Met Gala 2025 red carpet on Monday in a stunning plunging Burberry suit. The outfit, designed by Daniel Lee, was a modern and feminine interpretation of this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
In a statement to Vogue, Lee said, “For Cardi’s look, we liked the idea of a tailored, feminine dandy. Cardi gives main character energy, and her look reflects this.” For inspiration, the designer reportedly sought ideas from Victorian-era dresses. An “emerald green gown from the 19th century” became the muse for the star’s Met Gala attire.
Cardi B’s Met Gala 2025 outfit featured a green floor-length velvet coat. However, what’s interesting to note in the garment is the inclusion of a plunging neckline and a circular open back. She layered it with a matching velvet shirt with a ruffled collar and cuffs, adding more texture to the monochromatic outfit. The singer paired it with velvet trousers, a cummerbund, and a statement brooch. She completed the look with minimal yet elegant jewelry. The rapper added more depth to her ensemble with her bold glam, which comprised of green eyeshadow and contacts, and a voluminous hairstyle.
Cardi B’s first appearance at the Met Gala was in 2018. Since then, the star has grown to showcase many memorable outfits that have remained crucial to Met’s legacy. More notably, her 2025 look deviated significantly from last year, where the rapper embraced volume in a black gown with a dramatic tulle train.
