Sabrina Carpenter Reveals Why She Went Pantless at Met Gala 2025

In a dream-come-true moment, Sabrina Carpenter attended the Met Gala 2025 in a pantless Pharrell Williams-designed outfit from Louis Vuitton. Carpenter, who debuted at the annual event in 2022, wore a burgundy-colored bodysuit with a dramatic train, adhering to this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” She unquestionably sent the temperature soaring, pulling off a leggy display and also revealing her reason for opting for an ensemble without pants for her third MET as a global sensation.

Sabrina Carpenter was told not to wear pants because of her height

As it would seem, Sabrina Carpenter had a reasonable explanation for her pantless Met Gala 2025 outfit, and it had everything to do with her height. Talking to La La Anthony about her Louis Vuitton attire, the singer revealed that Pharrell Williams, who is the current Men’s Creative Director for the luxury fashion house, advised her to opt out of adding pants to her look. She told Anthony, “He [Williams] was like, ‘You’re quite short, so no pants for you.’ So here we are.”

Williams, who co-chaired the annual event, often considered “fashion’s biggest night out,” is Carpenter’s dream designer. Additionally, she ensured to disclose this bit of information during her interview with the TV personality, while calling herself a fan of the singer and fashion designer. “This is Pharrell and this is Louis Vuitton,” the Grammy winner told Anthony as she described the gorgeous look, revealing she’s “a massive fan of Pharrell’s” and has also attended the show.

There’s no doubt that Sabrina Carpenter’s pantless bodysuit for the Met Gala 2024 stood out in a crowd of tailored suits. But it meant a great deal more to her to be able to work with her dream designer for a highly anticipated red carpet appearance. “I was just like, ‘If I could go this year with him [Pharrell Williams], that would be my dream,” Carpenter noted before claiming that “it came true.” The “Espresso” singer further delved into a couple of other details, including her super high shoes, a “staple” in her life.

The pop star separately spoke to Vogue, explaining more details about her look being a “dramatic take on a dandy tailcoat with an elongated train.” She added that it was a mix of Savile Row tailoring and Parisian corsetry.
