Mattie Pruitt and Gabby Samone were sent home on American Idol Season 23 at the Top 7.
The episode saw Lin-Manuel Miranda step in as a guest coach. He helped everyone vocalize on some incredible songs from the world of Disney and Pixar. There were also some emotional Mother’s Day tributes, which really got to Carrie Underwood.
Thunderstorm Artis serenaded his wife Faith with an original song that she inspired. That was a gorgeous moment, and left host Ryan Seacrest open to deliver a hilarious deadpan. “I’ve never been more depressed to be single than in this moment,” he said.
Judges Carrie, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan no longer have the opportunity to save contestants from elimination. So, in the next episode, we’ll be cut down to just three contestants. Then there’s the all-important finale.
