American Idol has reached the final three portion of the competition, but was was eliminated from last night’s show in the double elimination? Who was cut at Top 5 and who was saved? We’ve got the details of what went down, so keep reading to find out!
Who was sent home on American Idol last night?
Thunderstorm Artis and Slater Nalley were eliminated on American Idol Season 23 at the Top 5.
Slater earned high praise from guest coach Lin-Manuel Miranda. He said Slater “sounds like he could be cousins with Randy Newman.” So, when he sang You’ve Got A Friend In Me, the audience went wild. He also hit the stage for the first time without his guitar, but was that his downfall? In the end, he was sent packing.
After his gorgeous tribute to his wife, Thunderstorm seemed like a lock for Top 3. But, even after an incredible performance of Cinderella song, A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes, he was sent packing. The song was one he sings to his kids as a lullaby. So, it was extra cute to see them catching Zs in the audience.
This means John Foster, Slater Nalley, and Breanna Nix are our American Idol 2025 finalists. During the Top 5 show, John sang The Bare Necessities from The Jungle Book. Meanwhile, Jamal took on Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, along with Beauty and the Beast. Breanna tackled You’ll Be In my Heart, from Tarzan, and This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).
The Season 23 Top 3 will battle it out during Sunday’s three-house finale.
American Idol Season 23 concludes Sunday, May 18, at 8/7c on ABC.
