Olivia Munn’s mom ‘never met’ husband John Mulaney till their 1st kid’s birth
Olivia Munn recently revealed that her husband, John Mulaney, met her mother, Kim Munn, after the birth of their first child. While appearing on the May 13 episode of the “Late Night with Seth Meyers” show, the 44-year-old actor recalled the hilarious interaction, which even ended up birthing a new “tradition.” The conversation came up when the talk show’s host, Seth Meyers, brought up a photo of a newborn Malcolm, Munn and Mulaney’s first child, holding a turkey leg.
Munn then shared the story behind the funny yet adorable photo of her son. The Marvel star said, “Malcolm was born the day before Thanksgiving, and my mom comes, first of all, never met John by this point.” She recalled that her mother arrived “with a suitcase from Oklahoma.” Moreover, Kim, without even greeting Mulaney, started unzipping the bag and taking out “frozen turkeys.”
Later, Kim told Mulaney, “You know, it’s so exciting in my family with all of our kids — the tradition — we put a drumstick in their hand for their first Thanksgiving when they’re baby.” Munn continued, “John was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool,'” and added, “He says to me, ‘Hey, your mom’s gonna do this thing.'” She recalled responding to him: “That is not a tradition. What is she talking about?”
Munn even remembered calling her siblings to double-check because her mother stayed adamant that they had the “tradition.” The actor then asked her siblings if they had any photos of the other kids, but they confirmed that their mother was not telling the truth. Munn then explained the picture of Malcolm and said, “My mom gets her turkey leg. She puts it there. She pats his hand and goes, ‘Okay, a new tradition.'”
