Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. I’ve binged the entire second season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives within six hours. However, I have made this sacrifice so you can watch in your own time. But my efforts were not for nothing. I learned quickly why Demi Engemann always considered herself a sinner. Frankly, I found myself asking how she hid those horns so well.
Demi Engemann might be hiding marital issues on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2
It seems not all is peachy on Demi’s side of Eden. The 30-year-old has been happy to play the dutiful housewife, but it seems she might have more of a Stepford wife situation going on behind closed doors. Bret Engemann and his young bride have always presented a united front. It was a fairytale moment during the Halloween party when he ran after a man who laid hands on her. He was the knight in shining armor coming to his beloved’s defense. But not all is as it seems. While on the trip to Arizona, Demi, who said it herself that she hardly wears clothes, wanted to skinny dip with the girls. But after shooting her hubby a warning text, he called. Bret made it clear with a stern “No” that Demi would not be swimming nude this night.
But what was more surprising was that Demi listened. She has had no problem calling out the other women for being controlled by their spouses, so when she dutifully put on her bathrobe, something felt off. During the same trip, it was also revealed that Mayci Neeley had been tipped off that Bret had slept with another woman while Demi was in Italy.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2: Demi Engemann threw Jessi Ngatikaura under the bus
Spoiler alert: if you are not wearing pearls, get some because this is a pearl-clutching moment. In an attempt to throw the heat off herself, Whitney Leavitt does what a good villain does. She turned the spotlight onto Demi. Now, I don’t remember this hitting the blogs, but evidently, Demi and Jessi Ngatikaura had a massive falling out a few months back. More stunning was that the fight was over money. Demi and Jessi, who could literally be twins, have been best friends from day one.
So when both opened up about their rift, I was shook. How MomTok recovered from this one, I’ll never know. Taylor Frankie Paul, Jessi, and Whitney all confirm that they heard Demi tried to negotiate her BFF out of a second season. In her confessional, Demi admits that she felt Jessi had more than enough money thanks to her hair empire. And it was clear Demi also thought of herself as the fan favorite. Talks broke down as it was revealed Demi told producers that they could kick Jessi to the curb if it meant her paycheck would be bigger. Then, to make matters worse, she implied that Taylor was more of an asset than the hairstylist.
Taylor Frankie Paul drags Demi Engemann for being jealous
Taylor has had enough of Demi’s ego. And rightly so. During a dinner, Taylor blew up at her friend. She states that Demi is jealous and craves the attention. And Taylor makes some valid points. She notes that she was the one who created MomTok. But even more important, she got MomTok on the map because she was honest about the swinging scandal. The conversation takes a turn as Taylor bites Demi’s head off for not being genuine. The influencer is mad because she was the one shedding her soul and fighting depression, yet somehow Demi had the audacity to think she deserved all the brand deals.
In a pivotal moment, Taylor even reveals that Demi wasn’t even going to be originally cast for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Yet here she is trying to kick people out of the group and pretending to be the leader of the pack. Now, I’ve always enjoyed watching Demi, but I might be in the minority after this season. Naturally, the ladies are skeptical of their friend’s motives and question if Demi should even be trusted. All I can do is pray for Demi, cause she is going to need it.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will be available to stream on Hulu on May 15th. The show streams on Disney+ in the UK.
