Whenever you have a group of friends, especially a group that is making money, there will always be a Queen Bee. Such is the case with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Now, there can be no denying that Taylor Frankie Paul was the mastermind of MomTok. However, after two fulfilling seasons, there are some ladies who feel they could do a better job. But who will wear the crown in the end? Here’s what we know.

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2, don’t read on. But if you have, then you know Demi Engemann tried her best to make a power move against the queen. While Taylor was sobbing over her CMA post, Demi was making it her mission to turn the girls against her. However, it all backfired. Taylor came to the MomTok meeting prepared for war; basically, Demi brought a knife to a gun fight and was ill-prepared for Taylor’s mind games. Demi also didn’t count on the rest of MomTok sticking by Taylor.

While in New Orleans and at her Christmas party, Demi ran quite a campaign to topple Taylor. But her altercation with Taylor’s mom turned the tide. The ladies watched as Demi cursed and yelled at Liann, which is simply unheard of in the church. Many felt Demi was disrespectful. It also didn’t help that Demi had been called out for trying to throw her friend under the bus all for some extra money. The 30-year-old was on thin ice. And it left viewers noting that she did not deserve to be the leader of MomTok, especially after calling Taylor a “disgusting human being.”

Taylor Frankie Paul has her mother fighting her battles on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives

With that being said, I’m not sure Taylor deserves to be the leader either. While I think she should always be a member, her actions also don’t align with what the social media group claims to represent. On more than one occasion, Taylor acted out. First, there was the Halloween party where she threw down with her ex, Dakota Mortensen, and her former swinging partner. She caused quite a scene and embarrassed herself.  Next was her undeserved reaction to none of the ladies commenting on her CMA Instagram post.

It was the week leading up to Thanksgiving, and it turns out MomTok has other plans than just sitting idly by and waiting for Taylor to walk the red carpet. But the mother of three thought otherwise. And when she didn’t get the reaction she felt she deserved, she acted petty. She threw her friends to the lions, aka the online trolls, and smiled while doing it. The cattiness continued as she then regifted a PR hair kit to Demi after their falling out. The worst part was that  Liann delivered it on her behalf. I’ll never know why Taylor thought sending her mom to fight her battles was a good idea. But a leader doesn’t need their mommy to go to war on their behalf.

Mayci Neeley is the leader MomTok deserves

In my humble opinion, Mayci Neeley is the MVP of the series. Read that again. She is the MVP of the series, not the season. From day one, Mayci has been a girl’s girl. While it can be argued she often plays both sides of a fight, I don’t think she has malicious intent like some of her co-stars. But I have deep respect for the amount of trauma she has been through. On her website, she shared her experiences with sexual assault, noting she was groomed by a college-aged man when she was in high school, who abused her and stole her virginity. Viewers also learned that while in college, she became pregnant, but her boyfriend cheated. As he tried to text a reply, he was hit by a semi truck and died.

Compared to the other Secret Lives of Mormon ladies, Mayci shows regular emotional maturity. She seems to be navigating the difficult world of being a Mormon with intelligence and empathy. Mayci seems to have found her voice and is unwilling to pack it away at the first sign of a challenge. Therefore, I’d argue that Mayci should be the leader of the pack. Let’s hope that if this happens, the power doesn’t go to her head.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is available to stream on Hulu. The show streams on Disney+ in the UK.
