A writer and producer named Rob Worsoff has conceptualized a series called The American in coordination with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, a member of Donald Trump’s administration. The show would be a competition where immigrants compete “for the honor of fast-tracking their way to U.S. citizenship.”

According to a report from Daily Mail, Rob worked in collaboration with DHS to put together a 35-page pitch. They’d send the competitors across the country by train to compete in various challenges.
Some examples of challenges include log rolling in Wisconsin and building a rocket in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Another idea suggested sending the immigrants into mines in California to see who could collect the most gold. Each week, the contestants would have the opportunity to earn “iconically American” prizes like Starbucks gift cards or free American Airlines points.
The last immigrant standing would win United States citizenship. They proposed filming the live finale on the steps of the United States Capitol so audiences can watch them complete their journey.
“Along the way, we will be reminded what it means to be American – through the eyes of the people who want it most,” Rob explained in his pitch.
Rob, who describes himself as a Canadian-born immigrant, previously worked on A&E’s Duck Dynasty and Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker. Despite partnering with the Trump administration, he claimed he wasn’t trying to promote any specific “political ideology.”
He explained, “As an immigrant myself, I am merely trying to make a show that celebrates the immigration process, celebrate what it means to be American, and have a national conversation about what it means to be American, through the eyes of the people who want it most.”
Supposedly, the Homeland Security Secretary has been prioritizing getting a project like this greenlit. They’re hoping to have it picked up by a streaming service like Netflix or even a cable network. Keep your eyes peeled for updates from the Trump administration.
